  1. Haha if I can make it to Winterfell by Winter I will definitely be happy, I worked it out to be 1055.6km from Castle Black to Winterfell based on a rudimentary measuring system I've used with the knowledge of the wall being 100 leagues. If I manage half of it this challenge that'd be epic I think Thanks so much sweetie, I'm going to start trying to get back on here daily as well and take a look at how you've been getting on, but in the mean time, how have you been?
  2. Day 6-12: Body Fat % - 23.1 Westeros Journey - 55.2km/420km +21.4km Upper Body - 2/12 +1 Core - 4/30 +3 Unfortunately all my medical tests and being made to feel worse by having to eat gluten again for a celiac disease test meant I wasn't able to exercise much and most of what I've accomplished in the last week has been today, but I'm confident I can get back to my usual pace
  3. Thanks, all but one test done with now thank god Haha that's so awesome! I'm just about to properly update with how the biking is going, it hasn't been easy as in the last week or two all the medical stuff has slowed me down substantially
  4. Day 1-5: Body Fat % - 23.1 Westeros Journey - 33.8km/420km Upper Body - 1/12 Core - 1/30 Unfortunately I can't stick to my paleo diet at the moment as I've been asked to eat gluten again so that I can be tested for Celiac disease, but I can get right back to it after the test on Tuesday
  5. Me too!!! I've printed out a map of the north of Westeros so I can mark out my progress. Yeh sorry it took so long I had A LOT of medical tests done over the past couple weeks so coming on here has been low priority.
  6. Hello Everyone, and welcome to the much awaited journey through Westeros. Main Quest: Lower Body Fat % - currently 23.1% on my body analyser scales, I know that won't be 100% accurate but from what I've read I should be able to use it to measure fat loss Quest 1: Start Tyrion's trip from Castle Black to Winterfell, aiming for 10km per day Measurement: A = > 420km, B = >400km, C = >380km Reward: A = +3 STA, +2 DEX, B = +2 STA, +1 DEX, C = +1 STA Quest 2: Weight train twice a week, I will need to do this seated due to my condition but I've found some seated exercises that seem doable Measurement: A = 12, B = 10, C = 8 Reward: A = +3 STR, +2 CHA, B = +2 STR, +1 CHA, C = +1 STR Quest 3: Work on core muscles 5x a week (this could just be situps before bed, etc but that's a lot for me) Measurement: A = 30, B = 28, C = 26 Reward: A = +3 CON, B = +2 CON, C = +1 CON Life Quest: Nearly complete Mum's birthday present, I'm making my Mum's present this year and it's going to take a lot of work to have it done by her birthday, so the aim is to have it 90% complete by 7th September. Measurement: A = 90%, B = 80%, C = 70% Reward: A = +3 WIS, B = +2 WIS, C = +1 WIS I will update with my day 1-4 progress later on today
  7. Day 41: Weight - 133.8 100% Paleo - 41/42 +1 Upper Body Workout - 10/10 Core Workout - >10/10 Wall Journey - Cycled/Walked 13.2km today, 717.7/833.4km so far Chapters of Ice and Fire - >42/42 Day 42: Weight - 133.8 100% Paleo - 42/42 +1 Upper Body Workout - 10/10 Core Workout - >10/10 Wall Journey - Walked 6km today, 723.7/833.4km so far Chapters of Ice and Fire - >42/42 I've walked and cycled further so far and I'm currently at 759.1km, the plan is to reach 833.4km by the next challenge when I'll officially start Tyrion's journey through Westeros, starting at Castle Black. Challenge review and stats distribution: 100% Paleo for 42 days: A +3 CON Explore the wall 555.6km: A +3 STA, +2 DEX Core and Upper body exercises: A +3 STR, +2 CHA Read 42 chapters of Ice and Fire: A +3 WIS Level: 2 STR: 4 DEX: 3 STA: 5 CON: 4 WIS: 6 CHA: 4 Does this look right to people? It feels like they were big increases, is that normal? I also think I'm more of a Ranger since understanding the guilds more, I'm definitely trying my best to work on endurance and muscle tone at the same time and I'm going to increase my weight training, however I have to find ways to do this sitting down to avoid feeling faint, any opinions?
  8. Thanks! It went quite well, turns out I have about as much energy for walking about as I do which is helpful Thanks a lot! The weekend went much better than expected It was great thanks. And I can't wait to start Tyrion's Journey, I'm going to print out the westeros maps and mark off the journey Good plan, challenge wrap up soon to come
  9. Day 40: Weight - 133.8 -0.6 100% Paleo - 40/42 +1 Upper Body Workout - 10/10 Core Workout - >10/10 Wall Journey - Cycled 8.2km today, 704.5/833.4km so far Chapters of Ice and Fire - >42/42 This weekend is going to be so difficult, we have guests over from tomorrow morning until Tuesday and at the moment I'm struggling just to feed myself and get the washing up done daily without feeling faint and falling over. Don't get me wrong it'll be nice to have company and be more active but I already know I'm going to struggle
  10. Thanks a lot, I hope so too, it feels very doable and effortless at the moment. Hope so, never seen this doctor before though so who knows how helpful he'll be yet. I'm having an MRI as well which will at least rule out some other possible causes. Thanks, I've definitely realised now that as little as one day without my morning exercise can ruin the rest of my day until it gets done, I think with my condition the exercise is helping my circulation which helps for the whole day.
  11. Day 39: Weight - 134.4 -0.4 100% Paleo - 39/42 +1 Upper Body Workout - 10/10 +1 Core Workout - >10/10 Wall Journey - Cycled 14.6km today, 696.3/833.4km so far Chapters of Ice and Fire - >42/42 WOOOOOO!!!! All done except for keeping up with paleo for the next three days but it really is easy, I'm just not willing to eat anything non paleo because I know my illness has improved since eating this way
  12. Thanks! I hope so too, I've managed to exercise on my stationary bike yesterday and today at least and I've been looking up exercises I can do whilst seated and it looks like I can get away with doing a full body workout without having to stand up and fall over
  13. Day 38: Weight - 134.8 -0.6 100% Paleo - 38/42 +5 Upper Body Workout - 9/10 +1 Core Workout - >10/10 Wall Journey - Cycled 8km today, 681.7/833.4km so far Chapters of Ice and Fire - >42/42 Had a bad few days with no exercise and feeling unwell, I've found the cause of my faint feelings though, my heart rate goes up too high when I stand up, I think it's a syndrome called Orthostatic Tachycardia, I'm seeing a cardiologist soon to get properly diagnosed and hopefully some treatment. Getting fed up of the day to day struggle but I definitely feel worse on days I don't exercise.
  14. Day 31: Weight - 135.4 100% Paleo - 31/42 +1 Upper Body Workout - 7/10 Core Workout - >10/10 Wall Journey - Cycled/Walked 13.1km today, 628.3/833.4km so far Chapters of Ice and Fire - >42/42 Day 32: Weight - 135.4 100% Paleo - 32/42 +1 Upper Body Workout - 7/10 Core Workout - >10/10 Wall Journey - Cycled 21.9km today, 650.2/833.4km so far Chapters of Ice and Fire - >42/42 Day 33: Weight - 135.4 100% Paleo - 33/42 +1 Upper Body Workout - 8/10 +1 Core Workout - >10/10 Wall Journey - Cycled 23.5km today, 673.7/833.4km so far Chapters of Ice and Fire - >42/42
  15. Thanks! I do need to keep reminding myself to feel good about myself though somehow Thankies Will definitely look at Gaiman next since everyone seems so keen. Thanks a lot! I'm going to start trying to cut back on the cycling and do more toning exercises like kettlebells though, I'll still be doing a fair amount just not a couple of hours on certain days hehe Haha thanks a lot! It's a lot more than I was expecting to achieve
  16. Day 30: Weight - 135.4 100% Paleo - 30/42 +1 Upper Body Workout - 7/10 Core Workout - >10/10 Wall Journey - Cycled 16.2km today, 615.2/833.4km so far Chapters of Ice and Fire - >42/42
  17. Week 4 looks awesome and a strong start to week 5, go you! It sounds like you have a great personal trainer too
  18. Wow that's awesome doing 5 dips when you wondered if you could ever do one!!! Immense! You must be so proud!
  19. Yeh they're pretty good books, can't believe how quickly I'm getting through them at the moment as I'm not a quick reader by any means. It feels great, I've made so much more progress than I thought I would and already have a good idea of what my next focus will be in the next challenge Hehe thankies, I haven't had much time to sit on here and read through people's threads for a long time, think I'd best pop by and see how you're doing
  20. Day 29: Weight - 135.4 100% Paleo - 29/42 +1 Upper Body Workout - 7/10 Core Workout - >10/10 Wall Journey - Cycled 37.4km today, 599/833.4km so far Chapters of Ice and Fire - >42/42 Really enjoying reading the Joe Abercrombie books, think I've nearly finished the first one already, might alternate between them and Discworld books, if I'm not too hooked by the end of the first hehe
  21. Thanks! Me too, I'm trying to focus a bit on calories burned now to keep me going Thanks! Oh Wow it's week 5 already? where did the time go? :-O Thanks so much! It means a lot to hear that, definitely will be in a position to start Tyrion's journey by the beginning of the next challenge, I may have already set off by then. It won't be as eventful as journeying the wall as there won't be many landmarks to pass so I think I'm going to print out a map and plot where I am and make up some stories about what happens on my journey hehe. Thanks!
  22. Day 27: Weight - 135.4 100% Paleo - 27/42 +1 Upper Body Workout - 7/10 +1 Core Workout - >10/10 Wall Journey - Cycled/walked 20.3km today, 552.7km so far – Nearly at Westwatch-by-the-bridge Chapters of Ice and Fire - >42/42 Day 28: Weight - 135.4 100% Paleo - 28/42 +1 Upper Body Workout - 7/10 Core Workout - >10/10 Wall Journey - Cycled 8.9km today, 561.6km so far – Reached Westwatch-by-the-bridge Challenge goal DONE!!!! Now I'm doubling back to Castle Black where I plan to begin for the next challenge Chapters of Ice and Fire - >42/42 Wow the only thing left to do is keep up with the diet and 3 more upper body sessions. I actually had a bad dream last night that someone gave me crumpets and without thinking about it I ate them and then was really angry with myself and the person who gave them to me lol!!!
  23. Fine, just got back on the bike the next morning and did another 56 minutes. I couldn't manage it without sitting reading my book, occasionally I tune into how my body is feeling and I know it'd be near impossible without escaping to a fantastical world within a book. But I really do feel fine the next day, and days that I don't start by getting on the bike I feel a lot worse for the day, I have M.E/CFS so unless I do something in the day I don't feel like I can do anything in the day... I don't know if that really makes sense but it's the truth somehow Haha thanks, well I'm not happy that we're all somehow unwell but at least we all have companions to moan at haha
  24. Day 25: Weight - 135.4 -0.6 100% Paleo - 25/42 +1 Upper Body Workout - 6/10 Core Workout - >10/10 Wall Journey - Nothing today Chapters of Ice and Fire - >42/42 Day 26: Weight - 135.4 100% Paleo - 26/42 +1 Upper Body Workout - 6/10 Core Workout - >10/10 Wall Journey - Cycled 38.3km today, 532.4km so far – Today I passed the Shadow Tower Chapters of Ice and Fire - >42/42 No exercise yesterday as I felt awful all day, however I think I more than made up for it today with 2 hours 12 minutes on the bike, covering 38.3km and burning 811 calories
  25. That's awesome, I've been working towards burning as close to 3500 a week as possible so I at least know I've done what it takes to burn off a lb of fat, and then following paleo means my protein levels are quite high anyways
