  1. Thanks, man, for being here. I'm getting familiar with my ups and downs and am trying to create habits and routines so I don't think about stuff and just do it. On to the next challenge!
  2. I totally checked out. Stupid brain chemicals. I could sit here and whine about it but I won't..... Just that I'm feeling sad and lonley for absolutly no reason. I'm still going to my trainer and gettign in a few runs but that's about it.
  3. Normally I'd say that I run to keep a step ahead of the Blerg but right now, It's out of spite. I hate my current running group/class/program and there is no way in hell I'm quitting now. I'll let you know when that change in September.
  4. I'm the s-l-o-w runner who hears the encouragement and I gotta tell you, I love it. I live in a very active and encouraging running community so even when I am out hauling my fat a$$ down the road at my snail's pace, I NEVER hear a single discouraging comment. And that is exactly what is keeping my shoes on the road and making me (more) awesome.....
  5. Color runs are meant to be fun! Whatever you are able to do by the time of the run will be awesome. There'll be walkers on up to super fast runners. I would advise to wear a bandanna over your nose and mouth. I was blowing rainbows out of my nose for weeks.
  6. Lazy weekend. I had a weekend all to myself and I got a lot of rest and sleep. I didn't actively pursue any of my quest (with the exception of a 3-miler on the dreadmill) but there has to be something to catching up on rest!
  7. Baronvaile, Thanks for the info! How goes your quest?
  8. Better late than never. I'm poking around trying to make some connections. I'll check out the accountabilibuddies.
  9. Day one - 8/7/14: No foods logged. Boo. Attended training and, holy cow, did she work us this week! We did 5 minute pushes of 5 reps of 3 rotating exercises. (I know I'm forgetting stuff here.) pushups, burpees, front and back lunges with bicep curls"YTA" Supermans, hops back and forth over mat, curtsey lunges, deadlifts with hand weights, side lunges with over head pressesbicycle crunches, hip lifts, windshield wiperscool down stretches
  10. I don't know if I'm supposed to post it here but I gotta say that I'm going to be sore tomorrow! I just got home from my training session and did I ever get a hard workout tonight!
  11. I like SparkPeople (I'm hecksyeah over there, too). The foods may not always be exact but I can usually figure it out. Sometimes I have to put individual ingredients in but it works. I like doing the little tasks and getting points.
  12. I use SMART to set goals. I know that unless I follow it I will make wishy-washy goals that don't get done because they can't be done
  13. I am intrigued with your SCA.... I wonder if I can find anything around where I live???? I love when I move up to the next size weights. When I go to my trainer, I remember I was struggling with 5 pound weights! Good luck with your goals.
  14. OK, so I started late so Week One (7/28-8/3): Quest 1: D - I ran twice: one speed work run training thingie and one short easy run with my house guests. I missed training to hang out with the same guests. Quest 2: D - I've done a handful of entries but nowhere near what I intended to. Quest 3: A - I had a party at my house. I went to my run training although, at this point, I'm just attending out of spite. I think it's aimed to more hard-core runners than I am right now. I'm not getting many positive vibes from going but I feel like I need to prove them wrong somehow. Life Quest: B - I finished up a knitting project and started another. That's something, right?
  15. I kind of feel like I could have written a lot of your post! I'm having a hard time finding "my people" and support, too. I'm trying to put myself out there.... I'll check in to see how you're doing!
  16. Starting over. I'm cutting and pasting from last month: Introduction: I'm HecksYeah and I am finally interested in getting fit and view this challenge as a way to stay on track. I started running about a year and a half ago and I love it! I try to run 3 times per week and I also take a weekly Tabata-style fitness class with a personal trainer. I'm really finding it hard to lose any weight (even with the exercise I do) because I "eat my feelings" and have anxiety and stress. I really would like to be more fit in general and be able to keep up with the big boys and decrease my race times. Main Quest: Lose 20lbs by the end of the year, be able to do full, real push ups and at least one full pull up Quest 1: Participate in 3 separate activities per week. I hurt my hip this spring from adding too many miles to my running training too fast. I need to mix it up. Measurement: A = run 3 days, bike to work 5 days, attend class on Thursdays; B = Run 2 days, bike at least once and do at least one other activity, attend class C = Run 2 days, bike no days, attend class Quest 2: Keep a food journal. Eating is my hardest challenge. If I'm writing it down, I will have a better handle on exactly what's going in my mouth. Measurement: A = all meals and snacks; B = at least write down largest meal of the day, every day; C = 12 sodas Quest 3: Connect with others. I need to be around people. I have a great run group to run with, I hope to stick around here. Measurement: A = 1 interaction/day, 42 days; B = 1 interaction/day, 36 days, C = 1 interaction/day, 30 days Life Quest: Be more creative! I miss drawing and want to learn to play guitar! Measurement: A = 42 days, B = 36 days, C = 30 days Motivation: I currently weigh what I weighed right before my son was born. I weigh as much as two people! My cholesterol has been high enough that I should be taking Lipitor. My grandfather, dad and sister all have type II diabetes and I worry that I, too, will have to live my life taking medicines that I could have avoided.
  17. Thanks, guys, for replying. It's been a month and I have done almost NOTHING.... I have attented my run group and trainig sessions but I'm still doing the same old habits. I'm calling a do-over. Same rules apply..... Alienjen: I went to school for industrial design and, at that time, was a very mediocre artist but I loved it. It's been many, many years so at this point, I'm trying to make circles round and re-learn how to make my hand do what I want it to. No pics for now. Teros: Thanks for the encouragement! I always worry and make assumptions and get so wrapped up in the minutia that I freeze. I don't look to see that everyone has their own journey and it's my job to make my own.
