  1. I was pretty good about a year ago, I was planning on moving together with my 2-years boyfriend, I had a job and was planning a trip through Europe with one of my friends... so I decided I wanted to FINALLY start taking exercise seriously. I joined a gym, started aikido classes and it felt great. I even joined one 6-week challenge and was ready to SLAY IT. And then, 2 weeks later, everything started to crumble. I was taking a weekend off with my boyfriend at the coast, and after a great day at the beach I took a shower. And when I came out of the bathroom, I discovered that he were trying to check the conversations in my phone. This is a big no-no for me. Long before we even were dating, we talked about how that exact thing happened to me in a previous relationship. Also, it wasn't the first time either, he knew that I wouldn't be happy at all. So I broke up with him. A week later, cleaning at home, I twisted my hand and my chronic tendinitis hit back HARD. Almost a year later I am still recovering. So I quitted aikido, because martial arts with one hand are basically martial arts without half your body. Now, I know I should have gone to the gym and done other activities, but I thought I would recover in a few weeks, so I just waited. I could still be waiting for all that matters haha With that landscape I already was demotivated. I was lucky because I still had a few friends and went out once per week or so, but I started to fall slowly in any other aspects in my life. I was pretty happy because I quickly realized that breaking up with that guy were totally for the best (I'm omitting a lot of s**t here, take my word), but I still felt like a chair with a broken leg. So my job went down too. Now, the good thing is I started using twitter more. This may sound as a terrible thing because it's a productivity killer, but actually I met a group of great people that reaaally aligned with my values, my interests and my vision of life. Thanks to that, we became good friends and we can actually discuss the things that really matter to us, and it made us grow (intelectually and emotionally) a lot. I started a masters degree and started to work again. Nowadays I am finally taking my business seriously. I am also (slowly) changing my diet towards a vegan diet and so far it has been a success. I'm starting to feel like a phoenix (sorry European constitution obligates me to insert here Conchita Wurst's song) and I want to exercise again! I want to feel strong and fit and (of course) sexy again. So I will start really slow with easy bodyweight and aerobic exercises. TL;DR: I went from: - job, boyfriend, almost moving together, exercising, to - no job, no boyfriend, severe injury and therefore no exercise... and then back to - better job, studying again, still single but better than ever, major diet changes and injury almost recovered. Ready to slowly start exercising again and RISE LIKE A PHOENIX
  2. Hey, I didn't drop the challenge, I am just too busy to get around here. I am going to do a small trip from Saturday to Tuesday and I need to work ahead so I can fully relax
  3. Oops, I forgot to update here! Day 4 was a pretty normal day. Day 5: I was supposed to go to Aikido, but everyone else wanted to see the football match (Spain - Netherlands) so the class was cancelled Anyway, I will count that as "done" because it was entirely out of my control. I ate a banana! Yay fruit! I don't know why I don't eat fruit more often, I really like it. I think it's the mess they create... But bananas have that convenient peel. I will buy more Unless I get up at 9am tomorrow (Sunday) I won't reach my goal of "at least once per week". I was planning on going out today... I don't know what I'm going to do. I feel pretty tired today and I have a LOT of work to do. I will have a second breakfast (the first one was a black coffee that is not doing its work) and see how the day goes. I feel pretty down today
  4. You should take pictures of yourself without shirt, front and side (you know, like those in the miracle products ads). You can't see the difference looking at the mirror by yourself, but comparing pictures of 2 different months can give some perspective. Tips aside: great work
  5. It seems you are doing great! Have a good night
  6. Thanks! We have to push that trip forward, I really want to do it. My advise: pick a thing and plan it (for example: your stops, number of days...). Then pick the next one... and so on. Eventually it will look doable
  7. Okay, yesterday wasn't bad. I struggled A LOT because I didn't want to go to Aikido (it was really hot and I wasn't feeling great), but I pushed myself and went. YES! I ended up sweating like a pig... The smell of victory! I didn't make it out of bed before 9am today, I was extremely tired after yesterday's Aikido class so I didn't even set up the alarm clock. I am grateful now for those extra hours of sleep. Also, I feel pain everywhere. I am the newbie in my class so I have to make an extra effort to manage to throw my classmates to the floor, and then I have to make an extra effort learning to fall when they throw me. But I like to think that I am exercising a lot so my muscles will get in shape pretty fast I am definitely using a lot of willpower on this challenge, but it's difficult anyway. So far I feel really proud of myself!
  8. Yeah, you are right. What I wanted to say is, you can't say "this behavior works better than that" because everything can work if correctly applied. Your post reminded me an article I read a while ago about birds that "mate for their lives", they actually cheat as hell. Not that monogamous haha As others said before, polygamy is pretty common in our species if you take things into perspective. Same thing goes for homo/bisexuality (going back to the original topic haha), if you go back into pre-christian history you will find a lot of non-heterosexual behaviors. We all know about Greece. Celts were very open-minded and had sex with both partners and strangers, also homo/bisexual behaviors are well documented among men and women. There are lots of examples.
  9. Now I can't wait to see you in cosplay
  10. I was totally going to take jrickards post and change polygamous to homosexual and monogamous to heterosexual. I think that saying to someone "yeah, I respect you, but you are acting against your genes" is plain stupid. Everyone is different and saying "being monogamous is ingrained in our genes" is exactly like saying "being heterosexual is ingrained in our genes". So, poly people are just trying to be different because it's cool or what? Related to this: Fun fact: I think it's a common misbelief this thing about "monogamous partners are better because they guarantee providing for offsprings". Many mammals use the exact opposite technique. Males mate with all females within their pack to get their sperm in as many females as possible (so they preserve their genes) and females mate with as many males as possible too because that way all males will protect and provide for the babies, and they won't kill them (they won't see them as "rival's offspring"). About the rejection: I can't tell what went wrong or why he called you a sexist jerk. It's possible you said something rude, but it's also possible that the guy weren't ready for your rejection and just had a terrible reaction. I always handle rejections the same way: avoiding any kind of discussion about gender/sex/personal preferences. I say "I'm sorry, I just don't feel attracted to you". You don't need to explain further, seriously. If the person asks why I say "I don't know, it's just the way I feel". That way people don't get hurt and understand that nothing can be done.
  11. Well, I kinda messed up yesterday because stuff happened (not valid excuse, but still true haha). What I did: - Getting into bed before 1AM. I almost missed it because I was watching the last episode of Game of Thrones, gotta be careful! D: - Avoiding fries and dairies. I had a moment of hesitation at dinner BUT I got over it - Choosing a frog to eat. What I messed: - Eating the frog. I lost track of time dealing with secondary tasks and I forgot about it. Anyway, I knew it was going to be extremely difficult to do everything everyday, so no big deal. I still can get Perfects in all 3 side quests. I tried today to get up at 9am, but I overslept a bit. I was pretty close though, maybe I'll do it tomorrow!
  12. I think that it depends on the person, because actual people don't fit in boxes but they tend to use one word or the other depending on what they feel more comfortable with. I think that, practically speaking, pansexual is the romantic, idyllic term used in LGBT contexts for bisexual, because most people understand if you say "I am a bisexual" but saying "I am a pansexual" leads to a lot of questions and awkward conversations. For example, I call myself a bisexual but I don't care if you are male, female or something in between as long as you are hot (being straightforward).
  13. Yep, I don't relate at all to those fears (walking alone/taking the bus at night) because my country and specially my city are pretty safe, but you should be careful. For the bungee jumping, I did it with a non-elastical cord because someone told me that the elastical cord gives you the feeling of having your guts trying to go through your mouth. It's scary, it's fun, it's exciting and I loved it, but I'll never do it again haha
  14. No, I left it blank because I was still up. I did go to bed in time! Success! By the way, I had the weirdest dream this night. I dreamt I had fries for dinner and I was desperate because I didn't want to mess up the challenge, but I couldn't help but eating them. It was horrible haha Edited: I totally misread your message, oops!
  15. Well, first day was a success! I just came back from Aikido, avoided fries at lunch and dinner, and hopefully I'll get to bed in the next 45 minutes (it's 12:15am). I even ate a fruit! We'll see tomorrow!
  16. I saw other people's posts and I think this is a great idea. I have a million things in my bucket list (and growing), so I'll write things as they come to my mind. I usually look like a lazy person because I am really calm and I don't talk much about my accomplishments, but the reality is I did (and do) a lot of things in my life. I am kind of organized, but not as much as I should be, given all these things that are going on. So the Dragon would be my inner self and, obviously, I don't want to kill myself, because I'm fantastic and, y'know, very modest too. Health Exercise regularly as a normal habit (no effort needed, no whining, no excuses)Have enough sleep at normal hoursHave a healthy and balanced dietCareer Earn a master's degreeHave a steady income that allows me to live comfortablyBe more disciplined (this is subjective, I need to narrow this down)Write regularlyRelationships n'stuff Move with my partnerHave kidsVolunteer / mentor regularlyTame my temperLearning C1 level of PortugueseB1 level of JapaneseSpeak English as a nativeLearn JavaLearn to knitLearn to use a regular sewing machine (I'm left-handed, this has been chasing me for years)Travel / Fun Interrail with a friend: Travel from Germany to Turkey by train - to be completed before NovemberGo to Bhutan (very long-term goal)
  17. Edited, it should work now. The warning was for other people stepping by, you never know By the way, congrats on your progress! Keep it up!
  18. Yes! I used to eat a lot of processed donuts, bread rolls, buns, etc. but I stopped eating them for no reason (just stopped buying them). A few weeks ago I saw fresh donuts in my kitchen and I didn't even think of eating them. I just lost that habit
  19. Hey, you've got a lot there! I am from Spain so feel free to come and practice Spanish talking to me
  20. Hi! If you have time, you can read this article, it's pretty neat. If not, the frogs thing is actually pretty simple: it says "if you eat a living frog first thing in the morning, nothing worse can happen for the rest of the day", which means, if you do your most important task first thing in the morning, every other task is going to be easier, so you already have the day rolling. And even if you feel like not doing anything it doesn't matter anymore, because you already did that thing you had to do. It's an easy concept but you'll be surprised by how well it works Aikido is about self-defense, so we don't really fight each other. Of course, you need someone to attack you so you can defend yourself, but we do it so the other person can learn, not trying to hurt him/her. I can't explain much more because I only went to 3 classes haha
  21. It's both, but prepackaged are even worse. Actually, I should avoid potatoes in general, but this is the first baby step. I am from Spain so quitting Spanish omelette will be reeeeaaaally hard! One thing at a time
  22. Well, I LOVE fries but my stomach has a different opinion on the matter, so it's more about not feeling awful after eating than avoiding greasy foods. I will also cut on dairy products, but that is much easier (they kill my digestive system). Seems like the monkeys are working properly today
  23. Hi! Another bi here. I tend to identify myself as female because I am physically a woman, but I don't really have a defined gender. Sometimes I say I'm neuter. You can call me whatever you want I am currently in an open relationship with a guy (not poly, just sex) and I can't imagine going back to exclusive relationships. Sometimes I just get up in the morning and think "I really need a woman right now" haha I think I'm kind of weird because somehow I avoid the hetero-normativity in my mind. I honestly assume that everyone is bi until proven otherwise. I have some funny stories about that, I'll tell some in the future
  24. I had 2 servings of fries today, hopefully the last ones until the end of the challenge (well, hopefully until forever!). SAY NO TO FRIES
  25. Hey, your 1st and 3rd quests look a lot like my 2nd and 3rd quests haha (you can find my post in the signature). I will be by your side avoiding fries (argh why do they have to taste so good?). I don't need to avoid snacks like you do, but I will be trying to eat some fruit. I hope that we both succeed I've never heard that brain damage rumor, and honestly it sounds like the paranoiac side of the Internet. BUT sleep deprivation does affect physical and mental health. I had some serious problems caused by sleep deprivation in the past... Sleep deprivation led to stress, stress to insomnia, insomnia to more stress, more stress to anxiety... You don't want to reach that, believe me. Trying to get better sleep is a really good decision I will be around, cheers!
