  1. Wednesday Just did olympic lifting today. We planned on going to this American Ninja Warrior gym and then we didn't so I felt kinda crappy for not getting a full workout in but at least I did something. 3 position clean progression High hang-mid thigh-floor 3 @ 95# 2 @ 110# 1 @ 115# 1 @ 100# 3RM front squat Ended up getting 125#. Probably could've gone heavier but it's hard to know if you've reached your limit or a 3 rep max. I also finished Take10 on headspace!! I can't wait to start the second level of the foundations course. That much closer to unlocking all the courses!
  2. This week's WODs so far: Monday Metcon 400m run 21 front squats 65# 21 lateral bar burpees 400m run 15 front squats 15 lateral bar burpees 400m run 9 front squats 9 lateral bar burpees Score: 15:50 Rx I was actually pretty proud of this one because I suck at front squats and burpees and everyone knows I hate running, but I felt super good doing this! Olympic lifting Clean pull-squat clean-split jerk 2 @ 100# 2 @ 110# 1 @ 115# 1 @ 105# Squats 3x3 @ 145# Tuesday Challenge 5 attempts at max rep double unders Score: 32 SO annoyed at this. I can usually crush DUs but I just wasn't on today. My hands kept getting sweaty and my forearms were tired. Metcon 12 min AMRAP 8 DB push press ® 25# 8 DB push press (L) 32 DUs Score: 7rds Rx
  3. Oh my God I've been so bad about posting and I can't believe it. I decided not to participate in the current challenge because I forgot about it until it was already a week in and there's a lot of stuff that's going to be happening for me during the challenge so I don't think I have the mental energy available to put my full effort into it. Does that make sense or is that just dumb? Anyways, everything's been going pretty well lately! I hit 3 new maxes: 205# on deadlift (which was super easy and my boyfriend says that I should be able to hit 220# but I quit after 205# because we were out of time and I had already done a ton of deadlifts), 105# on bench (probably should've been 115#, but I'll get it next time!) and 135# clean and jerk (which will be at least 145# soon, I swear). So basically I've been improving but I'm a little bit frustrated because I know I should be doing better..or at least I think I should. I think the problem is that my focus just hasn't been where it needs to be for the past week or so. I'm not sure what the problem is, but I just zone out and don't think about what I'm doing until I realize I haven't been pacing myself properly and/or pushing myself hard enough. I'm going to be moving into my new apartment in about a week and classes start in about 2 weeks. Eeeeeeeeeeek! Let's hope this year is better than last. Everyone says freshman year sucks but it seems like everyone I know had a great year. Anyone know how to make college awesome if you don't party? Lololol. I am going to start working out at a new (bigger) box, so hopefully I'll make friends that way. And I'm hopefully gonna get a job to take up more of my time. Sooooooo that's where I'm at right now! And I've started meditating regularly again with the Headspace app/website and LOVINGGGGGG it. I think you can add friends on there (maybe? still a little unclear on that) so if anyone else uses it let me know and maybe we can figure it out together!
  4. Does anyone else use the Headspace app? I just started Take 10 and I'm seriously into it!

It's what got me into meditation. Great app

I think I'm currently on day 8. It certainly helps a lot! I'm glad to know more people are using it, too.

  5. Ok first of all, can't believe the challenge ended 2 weeks ago!!!! I actually did finish successfully, I've just been insanely busy and haven't had a chance to update this. I was in California and everything has just been crazy. But I'm glad I finished and I can't wait for the next challenge. Also, I just hit a 135# clean and jerk max! I was actually super frustrated because I can power clean 145, but for some reason I couldn't even clean 140. My back was kind of tight so I'm guessing that's why. Apparently I wasn't getting my elbows through fast enough either. But if I could've gotten that up in the front rack I feel like I probably could've split jerked it up.
  6. Short update: currently all quests are going beautifully. I've actually kinda been crushing WODs lately (not trying to be cocky, just feeling really good). I've also started eating a bit better. Haven't had much soda lately, plus I finally tried avocado and liked it and got a power smoothie at Panera instead of a cinnamon crunch bagel. And I'd like to brag about the fact that there's Dr. Pepper in our refrigerator and I had milk with my dinner instead, which is like a super big deal for me. And we went to a Cardinals game and I didn't even get Ben & Jerry's, which I basically always do. ANDDDDDDD we went and got frozen custard and I got a small plain chocolate instead of my usual which is vanilla and hot fudge and brownie and it's delicious. So yeah basically I'm just bragging on myself for doing things that aren't even a big deal.
  7. Panera's super fruit power smoothie is amazing and I'm not even a huge smoothie person

  8. I can definitely relate. I'm eating ice cream as I write this actually! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. Mostly working on shifting everything back by 15 minutes every week. My problem isn't that I can't sleep or anything (anymore,) it's mostly just that I'm in the habit of going to bed late/waking up late just because my summer schedule is nonexistent.
  11. Goal 1: Drink 2L of water everyday Had a bit of trouble with this this week. I haven't been paying attention to my H2O consumption during the day, so I find myself chugging a water bottle right before bed. Grade: A Goal 2: Get 8 hours of sleep Main problem here isn't getting 8 hours, it's going to bed earlier and waking up earlier. I'm still in the habit of staying up way too late. Grade: A Goal 3: Strength train 3 days a week The one goal that wasn't a problem at all this week. Grade: A Goal 4 (life quest): meditate or do yoga 5+ minutes everyday Problem with his one is that my boyfriend just got home after being gone a month (too long) and we've been hanging out like all day so I'm always too busy to do this until late and then God knows I don't feel like it. But I'm trying to force it. Grade: A Overall: Ok, so this week was the worst so far. Not because I didn't meet my goals or anything, just because I wasn't focused at all and I didn't check in and update everything at all, which makes me feel like totally out of the loop and makes it way harder to make progress. I'm going to try to refocus next week. But on the bright side, I'm halfway done with my first challenge! I believe I get some points now? But I think that's a mini quest for the recruits so I guess I'll just chill and wait to see the deal with that. I also got to see the Rolling Stones this weekend!!!! Mick Jagger might look like a zombie but wow he can move. Is it terrible that I was a little worried he might break a hip? But he's in better shape than most people I know who aren't 71. Maybe drugs aren't all that bad (totally kidding) And next week the spartan program starts at my box which is like all strength stuff and I'm sooooooo excited! Yay!
  12. Mini challenge #3 The third mini-quest of this challenge was to decide which of your goals is giving you the most trouble and find a post on nerd fitness (either the blog or the forums) to help you achieve that goal. My main problem has been my sleep goal. This is mostly because, while I've been getting enough sleep, I still go to bed wayyyyyy too late (for example, I'm posting this at 1:20am (don't tell my mom (even though she'll see this))). SO, I found this article and plan on applying it to my sleeping patterns this coming week! I should've been doing it this week, but I've had trouble focusing this week.
  13. I love my nano 4.0s!! I just got them at a reebok outlet and they were on sale because the 5.0s are coming out so I got two pairs which I sooooo didn't need but now they always match! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Oh really?! Maybe I'll look into those! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I meant to add that the reason I didn't wanna do it is because I got a rip Sunday from pull-ups that still hurt pretty bad so I didn't wanna risk it! I love rope climbs though! Except that no matter how much shin protection I try to wear I end up with shredded up shins..and OneNote is working out nicely!! It's super easy to keep all my workouts and PRs and anything else all together. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
