  1. For now I'm going to lurk around and see if inspiration strikes.
  2. Step one is getting my fitness on track. Step two is figuring out what else I should be working on. I'm on my way to making my outside match my vision of myself, now I have to decide what the inside of this new person will be.
  3. ... and now I don't remember what any of the buttons do. It's been a while since I've been here. I've got diet and beverages under control, for the most part, and I created a character ( https://www.nerdfitness.com/character/70042 ) to start working on my fitness goals. I've made some good progress since the beginning of the year on my body fat goals, but now it's time to start working on the rest of my life. You guys seem to be all about personal development, and I think that's a good place for me to be now. EDIT: Ha, ha, when the post popped up I say that I have progress bars in my signature, and I don't remember what they are for at all.
  4. Here is an update: PLP is on track, I can already see progress in my shoulders. I missed two cardio workouts, but I have done my plyo workouts. Corn I super hard, it's in everything, it's just like giving up wheat again.
  5. ...three special steps and I'll succeed... (Assassins with preschoolers and cable are lining up to kill me now) Step 1) PLP everyday of the six week challenge, started with 10 yesterday. Step 2) 3x cardio per week, run, bike, or swim, plus plyo day. Step 3) Remove corn from my diet, I'm doing one additional food each challenge, last time was wheat. THREEEEE SPECIAAAAAL STEEEEEPS! My ultimate goal is to fit into a specific pair of pants that I have, this way I don't have to worry about what the scale says. Bonus life enhancement goal, 30 min every other day of GuitarBots to learn to play the guitar.
  6. Whew, I guess this is all wrapped up now. I don't think I made much progress on my long term goal this time around, but my short term goals went well. I don't know what guild I'll be in for next time around, but I have a few days to figure it out. I think it's down to assassins or adventurers. We'll see in a week or so. Thanks for all the support guys!
  7. So much DOMS today. Everything hurts. A little gentle walking and a lot of lying around watching sports anime for recovery today. Sent from my Motorola RAZR MAXX using Tapatalk
  8. Updates! On Thursday I got through 25 pull ups and 50 pushups! I'm behind on my sprints because of my foot issues, but still pretty happy. I ran the 5k this morning, it was mostly sunny, 70 F, 80% humidity, and no wind. I finished in 28:43. I'm happy with this, considering I haven't been able to train. The Rocky theme (Getting Stronger) came on with about 400 meters left, so I pulled ahead of a woman that had been staying just ahead of me for, like, a mile, then with about 75 meters to go she pulled ahead again. It was an all-out sprint to the finish (Rocky still playing), I pulled ahead at the end, but I may have died briefly. They had cantaloupe and trail mix without any grains at the end. It was a good race.
  9. The race is tomorrow morning. I got a couple of runs in, and I feel pretty good about it. Sent from my Motorola RAZR MAXX using Tapatalk
  10. Urg, so full. We made the paleo shepherds pie posted on NF a few days ago. I love shepherd's pie under any circumstances, but this was sooooo good. Anyone reading this should make it and stuff as much into their faces as they can.
  11. It's OK Arya, we like weird. Good job on the runs and great leg day workout. Sorry you punched yourself in the face; it's probably not constructive. Sent from my Motorola RAZR MAXX using Tapatalk
  12. Holy crap, guys, I just remembered that I signed up for a 5k next weekend. That I haven't been able to train for at all. Oh well, I guess I'll try to get in a couple of runs this week and hope I can finish. Fitness base don't fail me now. I think my digital scale is broken, it says that I have gained a little over 15 lbs. Since yesterday.
  13. Hi all, I am still on track for all of my goals, and I have even recovered enough to lift some weights and get in a swim! So far the gluten thing hasn't been too hard, mostly due to my wife having already made that transition. I have had a few sorely tempting days regarding lunches, though. Everyone at work going out for Thai food is always tempting, but I have been saving my 1 meal out for doing social things. Alcohol free-ness hasn't been too bad except weekend afternoons, which are usually sports/cookout + beer time.
  14. All right, time to check in. I am doing well on all of my goals, except that I had some malt vinegar without thinking about it, and according to Mrs. Genewich, that is not gluten free. Whoops.
  15. Hey, look at that, one workout down, and diet goals are moving along, and people are conversing with you. That looks like a good start to me!
  16. Welcome to the rebellion! Be sure to let us know how it goes.
  17. Hi Juudar, looks like you are leaving a swath of chickens wherever you go. I saw your post about looking longingly at the spaghetti. We frequently have our meat and sauce over green beans or broccoli slaw, it's very good. Keep up the good work!
  18. All right, guys, it's been a few days since I've updated. I have kept on track with my gluten free goal, and I have eaten packed lunches every day but one, so I'm on track there. Things have not been going so well on the exercise front. I've had an attack of gout all week, and it will probably be 7-10 days before I can do push-ups or swim (it's in my big toe) and another week after that before I can run. Since my workout goals for this challenge are shot, I am going to sub in an additional diet goal to prevent any additional gout attacks (if that sort of thing is allowed). For the rest of the challenge I will be 100% alcohol free, continuing with packing lunches and being gluten-free.
  19. Still gluten free, still no eating out. I played some disk golf today. Push-pull-sprint tomorrow.
  20. I'm pressing the keys verrry softly, so that the enemy won't hear me. Good luck, and keep at it.
  21. Good luck, sounds like you have your goals nailed down. No chicken is safe. Sent from my Motorola RAZR MAXX using Tapatalk
  22. I do the vast majority of meal planning and grocery shopping, so if I decide I want a baugette to go with dinner, or toast for breakfast I just get it (while being sure to supply her with appropriate options). Also, beer. I've been eating less already, but this will cut out the remnants. I did my workout today, ate my packed lunch, and didn't have any gluten. 3/3 on day one.
