  1. Week 4 Recap: Well, I can't say I wrapped this challenge up as I would like following my Spartan Sprint success. I've been recovering from a nagging pain in my neck and shoulder from the Sprint, and decided to not push it for the sake of challenge stats. Admittedly, I could have fit more runs in but wasn't able to get it done. I did end the challenge on a high note as I completed my last module of my Leadership Coaching for Organizational Well-Being program. It's tough to close the door on such an impactful period in my life, however it creates an exciting new beginning to explore. Looking forward healing up my aches and pains so I can get back after it. 2. Week 3 Recap: This past weekend I embarked on some fun and adventure and conquered the 2nd of 3 races towards my 2018 Spartan Trifecta. The entire race was a blast, and I would have to say my favorite moment was successfully completing the rope climb and ringing that bell for the first time in my life and during a Spartan Race. I am sore as hell right not and loving it. Looking forward to recovering and getting back to the gym and getting after it. AROO! Complete the Spartan Sprint VICTORY! 3. Week 2 Recap: Woof... this past week feels like a blur. Definitely not in the position I wanted to be in leading up to my Spartan Sprint at the end of this week. My fitness is definitely out of whack as of late, as I'm not able to balance work and family time to sneak in the runs and weight training sessions that I've been targeting. Regardless, I'm still getting myself fired up for this weekend's race. I'm ready for some adventure while pushing my limits. AROO! 4. Week 1 Recap: Off a strong start - made most of my progress over the weekend, but I'll take it! Felt strong on my 4 mile run with about 1.5 weeks left to train. Getting excited for the Sprint with high hopes of beating my time from last year. Also time to get focused on my Mastering Leadership book - long way to go there before class on the 20th! 6. Week 4 Recap: Overall, successful challenge, especially given the victory over the Beast! I wasn't able to play catchup on my weight training, but am happy overall. 7. I definitely would recommend the book! Tons of great nuggets and an easy read. Had actionable steps on building your personal resilience over time.
  8. Week 3 Recap: Off and running into week 4. I’m in the middle of my coaching program and getting fueled up from that. On track with my foam rolling, but struggling a bit on my workouts. Hoping to get after it over the weekend and load up on some workouts. Already starting to get excited about the next challenge which will focus on ramping up my training for the Washington DC Spartan Sprint. 9. Sure did! Now I just need to find time for my next workout so I can wear it End of the challenge is going well - struggling a bit to find time to fit in my workouts during week 4.
  10. Thanks - I appreciate it! I ended up ordering one of those Groove Life rings for when I work out and train. They have a partnership with Spartan Race so they have a Beast one! Looking forward to when it arrives!
  11. Week 2 Recap: Feeling great coming off the race minus the blisters on my heels. By mid-week I was craving another workout but due to some work requirements I wasn't able to get after it as quickly as I wanted. I did get back to the home gym yesterday and loved every second. I have several opportunities to fit in more weight training sessions and can't wait to get after it. 12. Thanks! I took on the Tri-State New Jersey Beast. It was at the Mountain Creek Ski Resort in Vernon, NJ. They definitely made the most of the ski paths!
  13. Thanks!! Recovery is going well - my main focus was on letting my legs recover and hitting the foam roller at least once a day. It's made a huge difference. The only residual pain from the race are the blisters on my heels! ARGH! Once those are healed up I'm looking forward to getting back into my normal weight training and running routine. Need to keep my endurance up to prepare for the Spartan Sprint in June.
  14. Week 1 Recap: What a week - finishing the Beast, apart from all the cramping, was an incredible feeling and rush. I'm focused primarily on rest and recovery this week, and am itching to get back into the gym and back to training. The Beast was a great reminder to never stop pushing past what we think we can do and accomplish. Complete the Spartan Beast VICTORY Average 2 Weight Training Workouts / Week Completed 1/2 Workouts Cumulative Completion: 50% Foam Roll Daily Completed 6/7 Cumulative Completion: 86% Read "The Resiliency Advantage: Master Change, Thrive Under Pressure, and Bounce Back from Setbacks" Completed Pages 40/202 Cumulative Completion: 20% Complete Module 4 of the Leadership Coaching for Organizational Well-Being Program (May 16 - 18) Completed Classes 0/3 of Module 4 Cumulative Completion: 0%
  15. Hey all! While grueling and painful, it was a successful battle with the beast! The event was at a ski resort, so there was a TON of uphill climbs and downhill portions that usually ended with an obstacle or two before going back up hill. It was honestly an awesome experience and pushed my physical and mental limits just like I had hoped. Here are my stats for the day: Distance: 13.78 Miles Duration: 5 hours 15 minutes Calorie Burn: 1677 Peak Heart Rate: 181 Average Hearts Rate: 148 The Washington DC Sprint is coming up next in June, and I'm looking forward to getting back to my training (just waiting on these heel blisters to heal up - ouch!)
