  1. I haven't thoroughly examined it, but it does sound like there is research supporting fasting exercise and taking BCAAs or HMB (or whatever it's called that the main bcaa is metabolized in to) to reduce muscle burned while doing it. I was going to try it, but just couldn't get up early enough consistently because Monday was just too long. For a while, I had a breakfast protein shake before and I would have to have some Gatorade or something before lifting when I lifted in the morning or my muscles would sometimes seem to just refuse to fire on heavier weights, but now I don't have to have the Gatorade. Until recently, when lifting in the evening, I would just eat after and maybe have a protein shake before, but I started getting really hungry after or even during (it takes like 1.5-2.5 hours), so I've started eating before and after and bringing some extra protein in case I get hungry during. 2. The bad thing about soda and juice is supposed to really be the fructose without the normal fiber naturally in like a fruit, so, in theory, honey and probably agave nectar might not be that great either, not that I'm saying that is definitely your problem or anything, but personally, it seems like the littlest bit of sugar can sometimes cause a problem for me, so cutting them out is something that could be worth trying. I've also heard that some people have trouble loosing weight if they eat a lot of nuts. I, personally, have about 15-20 almonds (a small or medium handful) if I'm feeling extra hungry. 3. 3 sets of 225 down; 2 to go. They are challenging. Little defects in technique can cause them to be dramatically more difficult, but when I succeed, it feels really satisfying.Typed with some words possibly being replaced with "words I must have meant" without my knowledge.
  4. What you described for resting is basically what I do. The tempo, I do sometimes have issues with. With the heavier weights, sometimes it's difficult to keep technique/tempo good which can cause me to miss the rep.In other news, I'm about to squat all 4 45s at my school's gym. It seems like in theory, I should start failing on squats every other time soon. If I don't my squats will pass my deadlift because of how sl5x5 says to only add 5 each time after 225. 5. While at the gym right now, I realized that if I don't fail squat right now or Tuesday , I will be squatting all 4 45s as well Thursday. Typed with some words possibly being replaced with "words I must have meant" without my knowledge.
  6. Okay, I got a little distracted by the Warhammer PvP challenge and haven't updated in a while. XD Tuesday (9/30): Squat: 45x5x2 95x3 135x3 175x3 Press: 45x5x2 75x3 105x5/3/5/1/3 Deadlift: 135x5 185x5 205x5 230x5 Thursday (10/2): Squat: 45x5x2 95x3 135x3 175x3 210x5x5 Bench: 45x5x2 75x3 95x3 120x5/5/5/4/5 Row: 95x5 115x5 135x5x5 There were also some random kettlebell things because it seems everyone in the warhammer pvp challenge is a ranger and does all the high rep things. I still ended up outnumbered in the first battle and lost, but my vikings still took down more enemy units than we had units.
  7. A raven flew overhead. Axel thought of the troops he had assembled as he saw the enemy's undead horde. His troops' number was meager, but all of them fierce fighters who would fight well in the face of even overwhelming odds, which was good because the enemy horde had them clearly outnumbered. Numbers themselves did not mean victory, though, and Axel's Norsemen would fight well. Fierceness in fighting and good tactics could still bring them victory. What Axel was uncertain about was the single Yhetee guarding each flank. Axel had needed strong troops on his hird's flank. The Yhetees could be key to their victory, but first they had to react, but if they did, and they regenerated when injured, they could take out the enemy's entire flanks, maybe more. A voice echoed in his mind, "You will lead them to victory, or you will lead them to Valhalla." Victory or defeat didn't matter. Axel knew that all of his troops were worthy to go to Valhalla. The raven cawed above the battlefield as Axel's hird and the undead horde charged eachother... exept for the yhetees. Axel and his Norsemen were too absorbed in the clash to come to worry about that now though. They would fight well no matter what. The hunters would still do their best to beat back the enemy flanks, and with any luck the dumb snow trolls would move to attack eventually, and might have an easier time breaking through the enemy flanks if the hunters could reduce their numbers some first. As the opposing forces got nearer to each other, the hell bats on the enemy flanks come in range of the hunters and they loose a volley of arrows, but are only able to kill one of the beasts. The yhetees still stand with a blank, dull look on their faces, not moving. Due to their speed, the enemy's wolves meet the marauders of Axel's personal guard in the middle, and lunged sending two Marauders to Valhalla, but not before those marauders slayed two of the beasts and six others were slain as well. Finally, one of the snow trolls moves forward while a sinister light takes one of the fallen dire wolves and it gets back up. The hunters loose another volley of arrows, but none of them strike true. The dire wolves on the right flank swarm the one snow troll to move and wound it terribly, but that doesn't stop the fearsome beast from striking wildly at the pack slaughtering them all as it falls. In the middle of the field, the rest of Axel's marauders met the enemy's terrible crypt horrors on either side of the clash between Axel's personal guard and the enemy wolves. On the left, the crypt horror kills all but one of the marauders, but the remaining marauder, fighting back against the fear threatening to grip him, determined to slay the horror, not willing to back down. On the right, the marauders let forth a great cry as they clash with their crypt horror, flying in to a frenzy. They slay the horror, while it returns the favor to 4 of their number. In the middle, Axel's guard take down another seven of the wolves without any marauders falling to the wolves. The remaining snow troll remains completely oblivious to the battle taking place as the enemy commander once again raises one of the fallen dire wolves. The hunters try to hold back the enemy on the flank where the yhetee fell and shoot down six hell bats. Dire wolves finally reach the oblivious troll ripping in to it. It smashes at them, "khuu! khuu! khuu! khuu!" and kills the pack as it falls. In the middle of the field, on the right, skeletons move up to take the place of the slain crypt horror, and attack the marauders killing the other 6 of them, but they destroy 4 of them before falling. On the left, the lone remaining marauder in an incredible display of determination, single-handedly dispatches the remaining crypt horror, but not before it wounds him fatally the raven caws overhead as he goes on to Valhalla. In the middle, Axel's guard dispatches seven more dire wolves without any of their number falling. There is another sinister light from Albretch Von Carstein, but none of the enemy horde is brought back. The hunters, still working to hold the flanks, shoot down five of the nine Fell bats on one of the flanks leaving only four on each flank. A blood knight from the enemy's rear tramples corpses to charge the hunters while the fell bats move in to flank them the hunters try to lash back at the blood knight as they fall, but are unable to kill him. With Axel and his guard as the only Norse troops remaining, they kill five dire wolves as the wolves attack futilely and they are flanked by skeletons which down 3 marauders while the marauders destroy one skeleton. This time, Albretch raises four skeletons to fight the remaining Norsemen. The marauders slay five more dire wolves before they are swarmed. Axel and his men let out a fearsome battle cry, determined to fight fiercely until their last breath. As the last of Axel's men fall around him, a voice echos around him saying, "It's not your time yet," he feels a pull and disappears in a swarm of feathers. When the feathers clear, the Valkyrie Rán Kavik stands before him. He had met her once before during his rite of passage to become a warrior or dreamt he had met her, he hadn't been sure. When she speaks she tels him, "You and your men fought fiercely today. You were not meant to win, but neither were you meant to die. If you work hard enough, you can assemble a mighty hird, and some of the men who fell today may even come back to fight by your side again," and with that she disappeared.
  8. I've been thinking about my flanks, and now think i would like to add 1 yhetee to each, if it's not too late (I haven't seen my opponent's troops posted yet), even though it seems like squads of less than 10 will just explode instantly once in battle. I'll edit my troops post to include them with a note that I edited it in case it is to late. Typed with some words possibly being replaced with "words I must have meant" without my knowledge.
  9. Marauder squad Size: 30 Position: Front Ability: sword and board Norse Hunter squad Size: 14 Position: rear Ability: dual melee weapons I'm a little confused about when Norse would retreat (seems like they wouldn't unless by morale mechanic). Also, you'll notice I changed my mind about the squad layout. -----edit----- Also 1 yhetee on each flank since we don't have to follow the minimum squad size even if they may just explode instantly. Yhetee Size: 1 Position: Left Flank Yhetee Size: 1 Position: Right Flank
  10. My 2 workouts would normally only net me 20 marauders and 8 norse hunters, but seeing how many points other people are getting and what other people are doing, and minorly joining in on the silliness would give me: 30 marauders (3 squads of 10) 14 norse hunters (2 squads of 7) (I think it's kind of silly though) Typed with some words possibly being replaced with "words I must have meant" without my knowledge.
  11. Naturally, any expertise anyone can provide in the matter would be appreciated if anyone has any, but I assume that it's only fair that by suggesting it I'm volunteering myself to do a major part if not all of the work in the statistical analysis. Typed with some words possibly being replaced with "words I must have meant" without my knowledge.
  12. A solution that might be better later on is possibly doing some sort of statistical analysis based on program to make a point correction factor based on type of program once we have more data (especially if more people get involved), but until that data exists, the easiest way is probably just the army matching. 13. Or... if we all just hook electrodes up to our muscles while we work out and then integrate the response, we can probably get highly accurate completely unfeasible results to base our points on... Typed with some words possibly being replaced with "words I must have meant" without my knowledge.
  14. Another idea I was toying with was something like half seconds per rep or comparing to normal rep time or something (I guessed normal rep time to be like a half second, but, now that I think about it, I probably wasn't thinking about both concentric and eccentric phases) but that could get complicated. Matching armies later would probably be easier. Typed with some words possibly being replaced with "words I must have meant" without my knowledge.
  15. I'm lifting weights that are heavy for me. I initially wondered if warmup sets counted, but then I saw what kinds of points other people would be getting and even including warmup sets is less... >.>;It would probably actually be easier if heavy for me was heavier because there would be more warmup sets. 16. Sunday (9/28): Squat: 45x5x2 95x3 135x3 175x3 200x5x5 Bench: 45x5x2 75x3 95x3 115x5x5 Row: 75x5 95x5 130x5x5 I also tried out power clean a little just to try it with just the bar from the rack. I just did 3. I also, at some point last week, noticed my kettlebell sitting in the corner neglected, and went to do some kettlebell swings, but they were more difficult than I would have thought they should have been, so I was going to do some at the gym with a lighter kettlebell and then with one closer to mine to get back in to it, but I got a cramp on the 7th rep of the heavier one. Also, I'm not sure whether the ones at the gym are supposed to be kg or lb... the heavier one seemed to be kg because it said 20 kg and 44 lbs, but the smaller one said like 12 kg and 26 lbs, so it wasn't a nice number on either. KB Swings: in lbs 26x42 44x7
  17. Yeah, I was thinking it was cool how I was going to get units for all the time consuming driving I do... Then I noticed norsca doesn't have any driving units. XD Typed with some words possibly being replaced with "words I must have meant" without my knowledge.
  18. That is what I gathered. We will have 7 days before the first fight that way instead of 6.Typed with some words possibly being replaced with "words I must have meant" without my knowledge.
  19. I'm guessing that we should probably have our armies decided on before Sunday if we're battling on Sunday, so Sunday would really contribute to the next week, so should we really start tracking Sunday (today/tomorrow depending on time zone)? I ask because I normally lift on Sundays. I suppose I could just do Monday Wednesday Friday Sunday Tuesday Thursday this week and next week to fit the workout in, but that seems kinda silly. >.>; Typed with some words possibly being replaced with "words I must have meant" without my knowledge.
  20. I was distracted and didn't post a summery for last week, so I'm going to do that now while I have time. Diet: D. I let myself get stressed out and ate some things I shouldn't have when I shouldn't have and also didn't track protein like I should have. >_< Lifting: A. Even if I've had trouble with other things, lifting is the thing that I've made sure to keep up with. Sleep: A-. I got close to an average of 7 hours of sleep a night, but it could have been better. Time Management: C. Time management was lacking, but it wasn't terrible. It didn't get to the point of interfering with sleep or lifting too much. On a side note, I'm joining a PvP challenge for the first time that is starting this week. I don't know why, but it randomly popped up on tapatalk and looked really cool. It's There is only war: A Warhammer Fantasy Mass PvP. One makes up a general, and the exercises one does allows one to recruit different units to one's army, and the armies fight each other on Sundays.
  21. That is along the lines of what I was trying to say as well. When I first found NF a few months ago and saw stuff about the characters and stuff, I had something like this in mind for what it would be. I just didn't know the details about Raising Heroes. I just didn't know exactly how it could work. This is really probably better than any way that I could have previously imagined it could work because I only had experience with D&D and other similar stuff to draw from. Okay, that is different than I was expecting. I will have to rethink the character some. I'm thinking maybe Battle axe in one hand and the bladed shield mentioned in that book in the other and maybe a great axe on his back. The axes and shield probably have the closest feeling to those rings. Maybe a few throwing axes as well for situational use. I had gathered that leaders were mainly about buffing units, I was just thinking about the bonuses from the berserker ability being like he was actually fighting for character development and RP purposes like cn3wton was saying. Currently, I've read that book to the point where I've just gotten to the "Norse History" section. What I saw in the previous section, "The Norse," they still mostly talk about them worshiping chaos, just not overtly, but they did mention Aesafolk vs Vanenes and that followers of chaos don't believe in Olric (or Ulric? There seem to be 2 spellings. Perhaps the O is a typo?) having the Einherjar join in the last Great War against chaos, so it sounds like Axel's god would be Ulric (who wikipedia says is kind of like a maix of Odin and Thor). I will edit my original post with the changes.
  22. Oh, okay, that makes sense. I wouldn't want to sacrifice back support in favor of back support as that would probably be counterproductive. XD So it might be okay to stand real quick between reps to breathe and set my core? I guess I could try stacking some boxes in a way that I can prop my phone up to take a video. I'll try that Tuesday. The issue likely has to do with my stomach pressing on my quads at the bottom, so it should get better as I lose weight. The problem is just what to do until then. >.<; Typed with some words possibly being replaced with "words I must have meant" without my knowledge.
  23. lol... That's awesome. I didn't even realize. I also just now realized it's been another hour since the last time I realized it was later than I expected, so I'm going to update really quickly and then go to bed and finish looking at the stuff I was looking at tomorrow. Tuesday (9/23): Squat: 45x5x2 95x3 135x3 190x5x5 This is where I accidentally put 10s on instead of 5s for 190lbs instead of 180. Bench: 45x5x2 75x3 110x5x5 Row: 95x5 130x5/5/5/4/5 Thursday (9/25): Squat: 45x5x2 95x3 135x3 165x3 195x5x5 Press: 45x5x2 65x3 100x5x5 Deadlift: 135x5 185x5 205x5 225x5 The last DL set was really rough. I find that I can set my core really well when I take a breath before the set, but I can't seem to when down at the bottom. I'm wondering if I should try taking a breath in preparation for the next rep just before going back down. I guess it feels like when I'm up, I can get my ab muscles to act like a belt (maybe engaging the transverse abdominus?), but when I'm down, I just can't seem to get the same tension feeling opposing the breath to create that solid feeling (maybe just the surface ab muscles?).
  24. This sounds awesome! I've had a half thought somewhere in the back of my mind since joining NF that some sort of actual game like this should happen (I was thinking of D&D though because that's what I know, but didn't know how that could work. This sounds like it will work really well). I'm going to be basing my general slightly on a character I had in a D&D campaign, but I'm not sure of the details of warhammer to know what can directly be transferred and fit and what I need to think of a way to rework. Race: Human (Norsca)God: OlricGeneral: Axel1st Ability: Berserker Are they spellcasters or not?At least not right now. If picking future abilities allows for it, maybe, but the first ability is definitely BerserkerDo they prefer to fight from a distance or up close and personal?Up close. What is their weapon of choice?A large axe between a battle axe and a greataxe (hand-and-a-half in D&D terms, designed to be used with one hand or 2) and a shield with sharpened edges. Are they frontline leaders or do they achieve tactical superiority by giving orders from a vantage point? He's a front line leader. How can he expect his men to follow him if he doesn't prove himself brave and strong in battle? How do they feel about their race's religion? He venerates the Æsafólk believes in proving oneself worthy of going to Valhalla and joining Olric in battle against chaos in Ragnarok.I'm still not really sure about back story.
  25. Trying out tapatalk rq before going to the gym. I've been really distracted (stressed out) by working on assignments with dysfunctional groups. Tuesday, I accidentally grabbed 10s instead of 5s for squat, so I ended up lifting 10 more lbs ahead of schedule. Today I deadlift all 4 45# plates my school has!
