  1. I saw a Firefighter themed challenge and just had to jump on it and follow! Bravo! (Yup, I'm still around. Quietly creeping on all of you. Hi Boss lady, Hi Ryoko!)

  3. Share this: Old Glory Coast to Coast Relay –BENGAY[emoji768] Brand Challenge This fall, BENGAY[emoji768] Brand is joining Team RWB and BAND-AID[emoji768] Brand to kick off the inaugural Old Glory Coast to Coast (OGC2C) Relay! A torch style hand-off race, it stretches from the VA hospital in San Francisco to Bethesda Naval Hospital in suburban Washington, DC—3,800 miles away. We’ll be carrying an American flag the entire distance over sixty days, starting September 11 and ending November 11, 2014. While the flag makes the journey from one coast to the other, BENGAY[emoji768] Brand will highlight the remarkable work Veterans have done and continue to do. BENGAY[emoji768] Brand enables, champions, and rewards movement—moving with attitude, with purpose, and in heroic ways. And movement is paramount for the heroic actions of America’s Veterans. They push their bodies to the limit. So BENGAY[emoji768] Brand wants to honor them by celebrating the amazing feats they accomplish. The challenge is on. We just need you to join us! Our Mission Virtually transfer Old Glory across the country once a day, every day for the 60 days of the OGC2C! We need 3,800 athletes, once a day, everyday for 60 days. Get involved! Every step brings us closer to reaching our donation goal of $65,000. • Join the event here • Download the Charity Miles app here • Join the team #MoveForVeterans and walk or run one mile per day for the 60 days of the relay • Share your daily walk or run with your friends on Facebook and Twitter • Stay tuned…event website to track our progress to be launched on September 11th! • Reward your movement: 15-day, 30-day and 60-day prizes available! About Team RWB Founded in 2010, Team Red, White and Blue (Team RWB) chapters and supporters deliver consistent, local opportunities for Veterans and communities to connect through physical and social activity. They host weekly fitness lessons, monthly social events, participate in local races together and more. These programs are at the core of Team RWB’s mission. Additionally, Team RWB is leading six Veteran Athletic Camps in various sports throughout the year. The organization is also organizing The Old Glory Coast to Coast Relay this fall, where 500 team members will run a single American flag from San Francisco to Walter Reed Veterans' Medical Hospital in Maryland. For more information visit TeamRWB.org. Between 9/11/14 and 11/11/14, Johnson & Johnson Consumer Companies, Inc. will donate $0.29 to Team Red, White and Blue for each mile logged by a consumer using the Charity Miles mobile application who selects Team Red White and Blue, with a minimum donation of $25,000 and a maximum donation of $65,000. 4. Make sure to add the charity to your Teams. There should be instructions on how to do all of this
  5. Here is a little extra motivation! If your interested, Download the Charity Miles app to your phone. Pick a charity, personal I do all my miles for #TEAMRWBBUFFALO, Team RWB, and Wounded Warrior Project, but you can choose whatever listed charity you want to support. Then every Distance you Walk/Run/Bike your selected Charity gets Money for from corporate sponsors
  6. I've drastically increased the amount of walking/running I'm doing the past couple weeks. All for a free Tshirt through the Charity Miles phone app.
  7. The funniest thing about my son's 5K. We registered him last minute, on-site, the night of the race. He was sitting with grandma, so wasn't with me at the registration tent. When the lady looked at his age, 4, she got very bewildered. She started asking Who is this for? where is he? Is he really 4? I didn't think she was going to allow us to register. He would have been very disappointed not getting his own race bib, but would have done the race anyway
  8. I was playing on YouTube today, I found a channel that might interest you. Search for: Tri Swim Coach
  9. I use MFP daily, but it seems to me there is a huge glaring problem with it. Unless you are entering the items yourself and enter all the items exactly as their labels state, you are totally dependent on what other people have put in. I find that more often then not, accurate information is lacking or just plain wrong. Beyond that, I have no idea what an Oz or Gram or etc of any given food looks like. So unless you are carrying around a digital food scale with you at all times, your portions are off. This can make a huge difference in your calorie count and your nutrient counts. Can drastically swing things one way or another.
  10. How are you feeling a couple days Post-Tri? [emoji12] , I hope you're still alive! [emoji15]
  11. At the end of the day, here's what matters: YOU DID IT!! You set a goal for yourself and you crushed it! You're totally awesome! [emoji1]
  12. I've told you my motivations, but let me tell you one of my secrets. Do you know what's going through my head when I'm out trying to run? I'm hoping people are looking at me and saying to themselves: well if that fatty can do it, I have no excuses. Let's get moving! 2 Updates: I completely jogged a full mile this week. This is a major Life accomplishment for me. I've always had to walk parts before. Did it in 12:30! My 4 year old son Ran his first 5K with us this past Wednesday night! He did really well through the first 2 miles but then was spent. The race chase vehicle gave up on us and left him and I out on the race course by ourselves. It was an evening, "Moonlight" Race. So we were all alone in the dark. Thankfully a large contingent of our Eagle Friends from Team RWB were at this race. A couple of the guys came back and found us. One of them put my son and his back and jogged with him like a ruck sack. Near the end, we crested a hill and our entire Eagle family was there waiting for us. 30+ people finished together, with my son carrying the American Flag. Sooo incredibly awesome and moving!
  13. Hey guys, I wanted to stop by and see how everyone is doing. You are all so Awesome! I've been reading your threads, so impressed with all of you! 14. Couple Tips: Don't make it a complete rest day. Just do some really light walking or cycling just to stay limber. Does the event your doing offer Race support services? A lot of times there's a repair truck driving the route to help people. Have you practiced your Transitions? My local Team RWB really helped with this. Ran some informal transition clinics for us newbies. Good Luck! I'm cheering for You!!
