  1. happy mothers' day!

I am doing surprisingly ok. Keto is treating me good, and I have my sister and future BIL to share the keto journey with, so that's really nice. I weighed in at 206.0 yesterday (the weekly "official" weight) and I am ok with that. It's 1 pound less than last week, which isn't a lot, but it's more than I have seen in a long time. I am not hungry all the time, though thinking about food takes up a lot of my time :/ forums, meal planning and pinterest help a little. So I can think about food, but not eat it.

I have adjusted my calories and am putting my trust in fitbit to tell me how much to eat. Seems to be settling about 1500 cals.

I am exited to just plug away at this week and see what the scale says. Shooting for 203.xx!

Also, got my grades in and I got a 4.0  :pride:

  2. I can't decide if its too low or not :/ My activity level is all over the place. I run 5k 2x a week, and do body weight stuff with the husband 3x a week. During the school year I am all over the place and I know burning more. (I am in school to teach health and P.E.)

I have been at 1500 and it seems to be real easy to creep up to 2000. I think I am going to stick with 1200 for now until I see how Keto treats me.

Its rough being on break. I don't know what to do with myself except eat :( I don't really like being home like this so it makes me a little jumpy, and anxious.

  3. I'm honestly debating never having children because I'm afraid of how my cravings will evolve from crazy to utterly insane.

    Probably.  :playful:

I was a huge fan of pickle doritos. Which they stopped making. ugh! The second pregnancy I just wanted all the carbs. And I had diabetes, so I just wanted them more

  4.

Standard customer service response #214: have you tried restarting your device/app? :playful:

    :redface-new: noooooo.

But I know I need to. I use a chromebook and I am terrible about ever actually shutting it down. I just put it to sleep all the time

  5. If you are just noticing pooch on your belly it may be something you are eating making you bloated. Like dairy or heavy carbs?

Also, everyone has different macros that work for them. If these aren't working for you, try something different! Some people do well on low-fat higher protein, others do well on high fat/ low carb.

Also, shark week will mess with your weight. No scale is to be believed until aunt flo leaves town.

  6. I cut out all the carbs and it seems to have taken my sweet tooth with it.

I agree with the "don't buy it" or "only buy one" suggestions. You can't eat what you don't have!

  7. I have studies!

I am back in school for Health and physical education and wouldn't you know it I just did a presentation based on SoFAS. Let me pull up that research and I will BRB.

Also, before I go, everybody is different. I do not tolerate carbs very well. The recommendation of 50% carbs that the gov't puts out makes me LOL. I would have to eat 100 pounds of vegetables. "They" tend to talk about added sugars. These recommendations are made to the general public who think lucky charms is a healthy breakfast. It's a starting point, not a law. There are no laws of nutrition other than we need food to survive, find the foods that make you the best you.

    BACK!

So, I am not sure how to share these because I use my university credentials, but heres one about how liquid sugar is "worse" than solid (pop is bad) Kids who drink pop get diabetes and metabolic disorders more than solid sugar All of these are about kids, because I am k-12. I will post the APA citation and you might be able to find them on Google scholar

wow, thats ugly and I don't know how to change it

This one shows that kids 2-18 get 1/3 of their calories from pop and crap food with no real nutritional value

I have more if you are interested, and I loooooove researching nutrition. :) Cause I am a freak

  8. My app has been running painfully slow today and I came by to see if anyone else was having the same issues. I am hoping it's just today because it won't let me add recipes and is just being a PITA.

  9. If you want to make your zuch and other summer squash dishes less wet after you shred or spiral your squash salt it REALLY heavily in a colander in the sink and let it sit 20 or so mins. Then rinse it off and squeeze the water out. I always find squash has a TON of extra water unless you salt and squeeze. Be sure to remember to rinse really well or whatever you're making will be way too salty.

Zootles or whatever you want to call spiral zucchini is a dead ringer for lo mien IMO. I make it with beef and broccoli and it's fabulous.

  10. really trying to stay focused for this challenge, and I am doing a really really piss poor job. Yesterday was my last exam, so I am just waiting for the grades! Today I just laid around. I mowed the lawn and just kind of kicked it. The past 2-3 days have been too high calorie. Today was much better. The bacon cheeseburger diet seems to be treating me well. I am eating in a deficit and not at all hungry which is a HUGE thing for me. I get zombie hungry where I srsly just want to eat EVERYTHING. I can binge on 6000 cals easy.

  11. starsapart - I can 100% say yes. I was eating at a deficit, weighing myself, my food, all the things. (most of my stuff is prepackaged like tuna pouches, and if it's not, like dressing, I have little 2T jars for them) and even if I was mismeasuring, I had myself at 1200 calories. Even if I was underestimating I feel like thats still a deficit. I am 5'8" 210lbs.

But a quick check it, I visited my sister across the country and she's talked me into trying keto. so, why not.  I am lactose intolerant but usually full fat stuff doesn't screw with me too bad.

Also, I lost 4 pounds and am a smooch under where I have been bouncing recently so I am counting that as a win. I have been testing with ketostix and seem to be about 15mg/dL now and haven't gotten "the flu" but do feel kind of tired, but it's also shark week, exam week and my husband is sick.

  12. I am really discouraged today. Looking at my fitbit and my weight has basically been the exact same since January. I have been 99% on top of my diet all this month. You would think I would lose a pound or two. :( Lesigh. I will keep with the program and keep giving it my all, and if at the end of the 6 weeks I am still just hovering at this weight I will talk to my doctor.

  13.

This would help keep it up off my shoulders and out of the way of the bar.

I just wanted to see if there was anything specific, maybe less frilly designs or something that they used for men.

Dude, totally forgot about squishing your hair under the bar. Yeah. put that bun right on top of your head because if you do bench presses it gets in the way.

IME, men steal my hairties just as much as women.

  14. You can't go inverted on your period because it will clog you up.... I have officially hear it all.

Slates- I know my cycle is coming because a few days before I want to eat ALL THE THINGS. It's worse when I am a normal weight, I think because my hormones work better.

  15. goody ouchless here too. I can only get my hair to stay in a bun with certain elastics. They are all different, some are just slightly bigger or stretcher. If they go around 3 times they are perfect for buns, any more or less is useless. Yours is short enough that the man-bun should work perfect. it's not really a bun, more like a ponytail you didn't draw all the way through the last time.

  16. I finally feel like I am back on track for the week. Sort of. It's a super busy week. My kids birthday party is tomorrow night, (at the skating rink, so 4 hours of skating for meeeee!) I have eleventy billion papers and projects to finish this week, and finals. Luckily not all of my classes have finals. I ran today AND jazzercised with the husband. So wooo! Also walked from the nutter center to main campus (and got sunburn, need to remember sunscreen)

Hubs and I are starting the bodyweight workouts I read about on startbodyweight.com I really like the progressions and that there isn't any equipment. I have a walker I am going to save for when I can do dips with my full weight, and have a door frame pull-up bar. of course a jump rope too. Pretty exited about that!

  17. I was a self professed not runner. One of those "only run when chased" people. I agree with K-prime and I got into running with the couch to 5k app. They start you off running for 30 seconds, then walking for 3 mins. It seems like it's not enough, but if you not a runner, it's plenty. They they start pushing you.

as far as your binder, I would wear it, but make sure you can fully expand your rib cage. depending on your top size, that could be more or less challenging. If it's not too personal a question, I would love to share tips and tricks for binding. I am cis, but no one likes flopping while they run. As I lose weight my sports bras work less and less well... and that hurts.

I don't know about the asthma. I don't have any experience with that. Make sure you run in areas that there are people? Let someone know where you are going, carry your inhaler, talk to your Dr. All that stuff they always tell asthmatics.

  18. ugh. One trip down, two to go. This was the hard one. I had the whole family with me, and it was to visit my husbands side of the family. I ate too much candy, didn't drink any water (who can when they are stuck in a car all day) and didn't exercise.

This week is finals week, but I need to make exercise a priority to get through it. We have a workout schedule, so I just need to do it!

  19. Dude. That much fruit would just fly right through me IF you know what I mean, lol. I dont get the hate people have for eggs. We raise chickens and this time of year we have eggs coming out our ears. I can eat 4 a day easy. Even the medical community is easing up on their egg hate and reccomending them more

  20. Have you talked to the dietitian? 1000 cal/day isn't recommended because it's difficult to get all the vitamins and minerals in your diet that you need.

But to answer your question, you hit my faves. Tuna, boiled eggs, shrimp, chicken/ turkey, protein drinks. I like to mix protein powder into greek yogurt it's very sweet, but good and high protein. I know you said no dairy, but I am lactose intolerant and can handle 1/4c  greek yogurt to mix in my protein powder. I don't know if you want to risk it. I have seen recipes for those bars and balls too. I haven't tried one personally.

added: I don't know what people mean when they say clean. I thought it meant non-processed, but it seems some people have a different definition. Also, how do you feel about beans and legumes and rice. I know they "aren't paleo" but they are good bulky nutrition

  21. sometimes just writing down your roadblocks can help clear them up. Hopefully joining NF and making this post is your first step to getting your head sorted out. Most importantly, and maybe I am off base, but you need to do something. I am a little suprised you weren't doing PT/OT. They are very good at helping rehabilitate athletes.

Feeling very tired and not wanting to exercise isn't stress, it's the bodies natural response to exercise. Very few people's are like "oh, time to jazzercise, I can't wait" 100% of the time. It's not easy, you have to make yourself do it every stinking time. But you do it because it's worth it afterward. You know that because you want what you had and lost!

  22. Thank you both for your invites to look at guilds! That's very exiting and I will be looking into both of them! I don't know what I "want to be". I do want to be something, I feel like I do best with goals and deadlines and something to work for. I like to get way to interested in things, and I would love to get creepy into something fitness related.

So. I forgot my phone again today and didn't run at school. I did come home and run, then ate WAY too much for lunch. I can save it though with a lighter dinner. DH wants today to be fatterday so I picked out a Lindt easter rabbit as my treat. Which including that still comes in right on my calorie count which is pretty exiting.

Random thought of the day, I wore a shirt that I haven't been able to button for a while today and looked pretty good in it! I have to visit family this weekend, and they haven't seen me since I was much larger. I forget that even thought I have gained weight from my goal weight, I am still 40 pounds smaller than I once was.
