  1. First of all, bravo! That's fantastic, the progress you made and in barely over a year? wow, very impressive and inspiring! ^^ And if you're offering help, I'll definitely take you up on that offer, as I truly need it. >< So, here are my answers: Your age and gender 20, male. Your biggest health problem and full storyWeight I suppose. I'm 5'8, 275lb at the moment. It's the worst I've been really. I was around 80kg (175lb) almost 3 years ago and have been gaining weight ever since really. What you've tried I've been on and off with what I'm trying to do. Changing food habits, excercise, etc, but never stuck with anything long enough for results. What you've HATED about what you triedMyself really, it's always me who ruins it. I always end up convicing myself to go eat sometihng that I KNOW is bad for me and then beat myself up for doing it. I try to go on an excercise routine but then stop following it properly after a week. >< I've had the most success during my last (and first) 6 week challenge, but even that didn't last too long. I feel like what I really need is something like motivation or to just find a way to push myself through the hard part and start doing something to change. I've been saying it for a long time now, but it needs to happen soon otherwise months and months will pass and nothing will change as it's been happening till now...
  2. This week's (third week) update is also kinda late. >< Went to a friends house for a D&D game today, we planned on starting early so we could finish earlier. We started at around 3pm, I only just got home at 11:30 pm. xD Anyway, this week has been good, so here's what happened: Goal #1: Prepare own meals, at least 3 times a week. Best goal so far. Three times a week sorta feels underwhelming but when I think about it, I barely ever ate home-made food before and I don't think I could pull off any more right now. Quilly and I (well, mostly her =p) tried making Chicken Liver Pate two days ago. We stopped right before blending the livers because they were too good and ended up just eating the cooked livers. xD Goal #2: Avoid soft-drinks as much as possible (no more than 4 per week) Not bad, also just had 4 this week. Still not easy, temptations for more are very frequent. >.< Goal #3: Excersice every other day This one also was good this week, consistent work-outs ever second day. Still doing the same routine, but finally got the heavier weight for the dumbell rows and it's definitely an improvement. No progress with my personal mini projects, that's disappointing. But there's a lot going on these weeks for me to be worried about that, I'm busy enough tht those extra projects can wait a while until university starts up again and I go back on a more predictable schedule. Not a bad week overall, quite happy with it. Next update will be next monday as well. ^^
  3. woohooo, fantastic quest!! That's a great list, heck, I'd want to do most of those things for myself some day! xD Seriously, good luck with all of them, you're gonna have a lot of fun! ^^
  4. Congrats on the ego! But Srsly? great accomplishments, good luck on going even further! ^^
  5. Feeling awesome is what it's all about! Congrats on the progress, woot indeed!
  6. This is my second update , it's been two weeks since I started my challenge so far. I'm posting this update a bit late unfortunately. Had a surprisingly busy monday, left home at 5:30 am and didn't get back till after midnight (not planned xD). This whole past week has been busier than I usual for me actually. Anyway, here's what happened with my goals this week: Goal #1: Prepare own meals, at least 3 times a week. This is still going well, ate a lot of home made meals this week. And I was able to cook a midium steak for the first time ever (after a couple of attempts =p) but it was delicious! >.< Although I did spend a lot of time outside this week and ended up eating more restaurant food than I would have liked. ;/ Goal #2: Avoid soft-drinks as much as possible (no more than 4 per week) This goal was definitely better than last week. Only had 4 cokes this time, so yey. ^^ And tried club soda twice this week and I think it's a brilliant idea. I got really used to having a cold, fizzy drink with almost every meal I have, so instead of a soft drink, I'll have this to simulate that feeling, and it worked well so far. Gonna try to switch completely to club soda soon. Goal #3: Excersice every other day This one didn't go too well this week. As I was busy a lot I missed one of the four days I was suppose to do. But that's no excuse, I'm gonna count this week as a miss then and make sure not to allow this to happen again. I also forgot the bigger dumbell that I got in a friends car which meant I continued my dumbell rows with the easy weight. I'm definitely going over tomorrow to pick it up though. As I've barely been at home this week, didn't get much done with my personal projects. But I did get a chance to represent the Research Center of my university at an information session, so that was fun. Stilla 50/50 week though, will do best to make next week even better. Nexy update will be for Monday as well. ^^
  7. That truely is a great quote! ^^ Good luck with college and everything.
  8. Congrats on your awesome purchace! ^^ A friend of mine got a bar for his bedroom a few weeks ago and has been making great progress with it ever since, I'm sure it'll be the same for you.
  9. Hey there JenOfAllTrades, great plan you've got there, I'm doing something quite similar for my first challenge too. 1 sode per week, if you can pull that off it would be awesome! It's actually been the toughest thing for me to do in my challenge so far. >.< I see you've had some good progress so far too, keep it up, and good luck with the rest of the challenge! ^^
  10. Hiya Sarah, welcome to NerdFitness!! ^^ Great quests you've got there, and you'll definitely be able to achieve your goal that way. Good luck!! As for Krav Maga, I've never even heard of it before, but it sounds interesting, good luck with that too.
  11. Alright, so it's been a week since I started this, so here's a quick update on how it's going so far. Goal #1: Prepare own meals, at least 3 times a week. Not bad so far, I've had home-cooked meals more than 3 times this week. Which is definitely an improvement considering two weeks ago I'd eat nothing but take out almost every day. So I'd say this goal has been a success so far, although I'd like to improve the quality of food I'm having. For example I've had things like home-made burgers, pasta and beef in oyster sause this week and I'm sure I can do better next week. ^^ Goal #2: Avoid soft-drinks as much as possible (no more than 4 per week) This one did not go too well. =/ I've had 6 cokes this week and been temped to have more on multiple occasions too. >.< So that's a week missed for this goal and I really need to control it and hope it doesn't happen again. Goal #3: Excersice every other day This goal has been the best so far for me. I've done 3 regular sets of 10 push-ups, squats and dumbell rows every second day this week. I'll see how I could improve this as well for next week. One thing I need to do for sure is find a better weight for the dumbell rows, the ones I've been using this week are feeling a bit too easy now. I've also made some progress with my Life Quest as well this week. Spent a few hours learning a few new things with Unity. Haven't started the project I have in mind yet, but I'm practicing the things that I'll be using once I start. All in all, not a very bad week. I'm happy with it, it's a start. And I'll definitely do next week much better! I'll post another update next Monday then. Thank you everyone, for all the advice and support. ^^
  12. It is going well so far, but not as well as I'd wanted it to be, just a small hurdle really. I was planning on doing weekly updates for the challenge. As I started this thread on a Monday, I'll be posting detailed updates every Monday then. Thanks for checking in Leeroy. ^^
  13. Heya Leeroy, I've read up on the BBWW. Great article and it's pretty much exactly what I want to be doing right now. Thanks! ^^ And thank you sooo much Quilly!! You're the best! And I will definitely continue to do my best with this.
  14. Great list indeed. I've read a few of the things on there and a few other I want to read eventually too. My next goal is to read the rest of Darren Shan's Work (Finished his vampire series so far) and continue the Wheel of Time (only two books in, 12 more to go xD). Here's my GoodReads btw, if you are using it. If not, do check it out, it's pretty cool. ^^
  15. Heya Videoglee! First of all, welcome to Nerdfitness! My challenge is quite similar to yours, I'm in a similar position myself (although I've got quite more weight to lose than you). I'm also trying to fix up my eating and start sqeezing in some exercise into my schedule. Good luck my friend, I'm sure we can both do it!! ^^ Also ChristArtist, your advice is quite helpful, I hope you don't mind if I pick off some of them for myself? ;p
