  1. (Note: cross-posted in my Daily Battle Log) Sigh, my friends, sigh. It has been a while since my last post. Having a little downer of a week in terms of eating. Time to get back to being more engaged with NF forums and the academy. The good news: *I have been keeping up working with my trainers and average 3 workouts per week - 1 with him and 2 on my own (mostly weight training and small amounts of cardio) *I still prepare my lunch for the week over the weekend - paleo-ish style Bachelor Chow (as my husband calls it) - Ground Turkey or Grilled chick

  3. Hi! I finished, and finished well! Personal training is going well. But here is my challenge summary, a little bit late! NO CAKE: able to ignore cake for 6 weeks! (and still going strong). All points earned! Grocery Shopping: I certainly went once a week with a good plan and came out with some good snacks and meals! All points earned! Meal planning: Aside from the final week where I followed the trainer's meal plan, I did really well on planning out my other 5 weeks and sticking to healthy meals and snack. All points earned! Thanks everyone! Skipping out on the next challe
  4. So starting week 6! I have been absent from the forums a bit, but it's been a really busy two weeks, between holidays, family, and visiting friends! I have been able to stick to my guns on some things - NO CAKE. This has been going well. I have not cut out all sweets, but no cake. and it's been just fine. I think the next thing to go will be cookies.... I am not planning a food menu this week. *cue audible gasp* I am starting my training sessions tomorrow and this comes with a meal plan, so the work, I believe will be done for me! So my goal for this final week is to shop for the new
  5. So I took the plunge and sided with the trainer. I figure for 3 months, 2x per week, if I can't devote that to myself, learning something and bettering my overall health and habits, then wtf. It IS a bit pricey, but I kind of consider it like a personal class - show up twice a week to stay on schedule, but continue to work in my off time and improve my knowledge and workouts. Eek! Now I just have to start. I have some travelling coming up and then some guests from out of town, so I will start July 13th. Whew! So far, still no cake, meal plan going pretty darn well (a couple of substitut
  6. So the question becomes... How much is too much for a trainer? Now, I have some expendable income... and I think this is something I want to commit to and see how it goes... But it comes with a bit of a price tag.... This is something I have to ponder. Otherwise, life is going fine, challenge wise - tonight is grilled kabobs w/ a tomato/basil/balsamic vinegar side dish...
  7. Week 2 recap: Planning achieved! I have two more weeks planned out, but here is this weeks as proof. Shopping - Check! Went shopping on Saturday night for this upcoming week. No cake - Check! I did not have any cake, but luckily this week there wasn't very much around for temptation. New in the fitness arena: I have an appointment with a personal trainer on Wednesday to make set up something and get rolling again. I think I need a little more direction, because my hodge podge of trying to watch what I eat and jogging every so often plus some weights just isn't really gettin
  8. Good to see ya! It was a great concert, I can't lie, but sorry you missed it!
  9. Which tracker did you go with?? I'm in the middle of hunting for one, and I'm going to use a fitbit for now, but always on the lookout! Do you have a recipe you like? I've tried one or two, but love baked oatmeal and will always try another - can't handle the texture of regular oatmeal, though I wish I could....
  10. I am still much afraid of the shorts! But I also find them pretty uncomfy for jogging... skin rubbing on skin after all. Good for you though! I love a good pair of jogging capris It's summer! I am constantly grilling chicken - you can season them all a different flavor if you want, and then you won't get QUITE as bored as you work your way through the week. Congrats on a great week 1! Your progress bar makes me very jealous! And motivated!
  11. It's been a busy couple of days - sorry for the lack of posts! But the meal plan is going well - I did opt for a sandwich at work on Saturday instead of a salad, since the salad bar on the weekend at work lacks a little bit... But I've been much better about my snacks and not just shoving whatever is closest in my mouth when I get home from work. I got in my 3 days of 30+ minute exercising - mostly walking this time around, but this week I am going to get back to weights as I feel back to normal from my lower back twinge. I went shopping yesterday for this week and spent part of ye
  12. Sweet! I work in Wisconsin, hospital side. Pharmacists make great nerds, glad to see another one utilizing this fun site! I didn't think of it either! I found a list of some great 150 cal snacks for post workout/run and this was on the list. It's totally excellent too. Highly recommend. Glad someone else has a scatter brain every once in a while - too bad it was at the cost of a bunch of yummy chicken! Ahahah I forgot about this scene! That is excellent! Thanks for the support - I will definitely take you up on your offer if I have any questions.
  13. So today was the first day using my meal plans. I actually did really well. Breakfast was 2 HB eggs and yogurt, snack was a banana and 15 almonds, lunch was a big salad w/ grilled chicken, another snack was apple and 2 oz vanilla greek no fat yogurt mixed w/ 0.5 tbsp peanut butter and some cinnamon. The apple dip was delicious! Then dinner came along. Now, I've heard many things about "best laid plans" and whatnot, and this was one of those moments - best intentions, but it didn't work out. Last night, hubby and I grilled a bunch of chicken, which we ate with carrots last night, but h
  14. Glad to finally catch up on your challenge! I love the the Doctor Who theme is going strong (especially as I am watching it bit by bit myself). Excited for your progress! This! I can hit 2 miles fairly easily, but then I also start to wonder about other things I could be doing or am I hearing the same songs again...
  15. I hear ya. Our work has started providing flavored water in the cafeteria and some of it is ok, but mostly only lemon actually adds to the water for me. Some of the other flavors are just meh. Way to try it out though!
