  1. I started working out 5+ days a week a month ago. Two days a week weights, 3+ days hard cardio, rest medium cardio. I can see some definition so I'm happy with that. I have been holding steady with weight which was fine. Then last week I was told my blood sugar is high (which it really is) so I started a low carb diet. I have eaten virtually no carbs and only a couple beers for a week and I've gained an additional 4 pounds. I USED to sea a lot of carbs (enchilladas, bread, etc) and I've cut down on alcohol a LOT (I cut down over 80% - and I haven't had more than 3 beers at a time) before last week. I am constipated some. But I've been keeping track of the calories I've been eating at it looks round 1200 or so. Am I eating enough? Am I working out too much? I haven't been super hungry or anything like that. I'm 5'6" and now 215. HELP! Breads and flour spike my blood sugar (know this through blood testing). I don't know what to do. ps - I do drink a lot of water but I've noticed I don't have the same feeling of dehydration since I started low carb. I drank more water when I ate a lot of crabs (probably the blood sugar thing)
  2. Hi there, I naturally have really big calves. Even when I was too thin (107 lbs) and did a lot of ballet my claves were still big - I could not buy regular high boots for example. I'm worried that increasing weight will just make my calves bigger. I know there is a lot of fat there too (which is a separate thing). Can I reduce my calf size still with increased weight. I know this sounds like a silly question bit this it my biggest fear about weight training. Any confort/thoughts appreciated! And yes, I am measuring weekly but only started 3 weeks ago.
  3. My pudgyness that is! Just started to work out (strength and cardio) on July 15. It's been 2 weeks and I feel better and I know I have more energy. I haven't seen any weight loss or inch loss but I'm sure that's coming. Tried before about 1 1/2 years ago and I didn't leave the starting zone. This time I'm going to max level. Why? Because I am fat. I will admit it. And 43. And my blood tests just came back diabetic. And my cholesterol is pretty bad. And I don't want to be on pills and/or die young And I used to have pretty good rear and legs back in the day (I'm female) So I'm doing legs/core 1 day a week, arms/back 1 day a week, and full body 1 day a week. Three days of cardio. One day of rest (maybe some light walking). I'm tryin gto eat more unprocessed/natural foods but I'm easing in on that. So anyone else around the fabulous forties have any advice or need a buddy let me know. Hopefully I will start getting some visual results or scale results soon. Time to level up!
