  1. I have been getting up fairly consistently and running most mornings, or about 3-4 times a week. It's been good! I'm NOT a morning person, but I get up around 5:30 a.m. and get going - after the first five minutes of running I'm usually okay. I'm working on doing about 2 miles a morning. I really love it when I come home, shower, get dressed in real clothes for the day. It's great to have my run done and I don't have it hanging over my head. Thanks for checking on me! I haven't been good about logging in and keeping track here.
  2. Better get going on a battle log of some sort - I'm WAY behind on this challenge. 2nd 6-Week NF Challenge - Joining the Scouts! Week 1 I spent a majority of this week being sick. I didn't go out and run, I just laid around and coughed and blew my nose. Lame. I was sick while running my first 5k on September 20th and I think that activity kicked a little cold into overdrive and it blew up in my sinuses and lungs. Week 2 After missing a couple of planned runs, I made the big decision to switch to early morning runs. This is a BIG deal for me, a certifiable "not morning person". Day 1 Tuesday, September 30th: Up at 5:45 and out for a morning jog with hubby. It had been over a week since I'd run, so I was pretty lazy and slow. We also took our 8 month old in the jogging stroller with us. Huge mistake, that kid is ginormous and weighs a ton. It was super tough to push that guy around. We did a little over a mile and called it quits. We decided to take turns in the morning, with me going out at 5:30 a.m. and hubby going for a run when I get back. Day 2 Wednesday, October 1st: Rest Day Day 3 Thursday, October 2nd: I managed to get up at 5:30 and out the door at 5:45 for 1.5 miles. I took a little too long this morning, and hubby took a little too long waking up - so he missed his run. We decided we better make sure all our stuff is set up and ready to go in the morning, and he should set an alarm to wake up at 6 and get ready, so he's not waiting for me.
  3. Okay. It's come to it. I'm just going to have to start running in the morning before everyone else gets up. This is a HUGE deal for me. I'm absolutely non-functional in the morning. Plus, we usually still have our 8 month old baby in our bed after 3 or 4 am. We tend to go to bed around 10:30 or 11 at night, and I get up at least once with the baby. Our three teens get up around 6:30 am. And the twins (2 years old) and our 3 year old get up soon after that. And they all want to eat, and talk, and interact... like weirdos. LOL If it were up to me, there would be no talking of any kind until after 10 am. But, it's not working out for me to run at night. My oldest daughter gets off work around 9 pm. My son has play practice most nights and gets done around 9 pm. We try to put the twins and the three year old in bed around 7:30 pm. but we just switched the twins to toddler beds instead of cribs, so they're getting up quite a bit - and I just can't go for a run unless I know they're asleep. It really just leaves the morning ... like... 5:30 am. *gasp* How do y'all do it? What time do you go to bed normally? When do you get up/run?
  4. Hubs and I are hoping to be in the 5k or Dye run for the Early Pioneer Days festival on October 18th at 8 a.m. Hooray for color runs! This will be my second 5k race, and I'm really expecting to do much better - hopefully I will not be sick with a head cold this time
  5. Good luck on your hunts! Can't wait to hear about what you bag this season!
  6. Dang it! LOL I gotta quit being behind the pack here. I'll catch up eventually
  7. I do notice a surge in irritability and anger issues coinciding with my cycle... about 4 or 5 days before "the day of doom" - this challenge will be a great encouragement to keep up with tracking my feelings and emotional issues on my nifty little cycle tracker app thingie. That way maybe I can at least give my family a heads up, and try to remember that what I'm feeling might not be legitimate and I don't necessarily have to blow up at every little thing. Which I tend to do during those days. Thanks for this mini challenge! Very helpful
  8. LOL I probably should push that down to 2 or 3 pounds in six weeks. I've been losing a pound a week - but when I run more often, I tend to not lose weight. Two or three pounds would be more realistic and achievable. Good call! I've been sick for the past week - and not running. And it's got me feeling BLUE, y'all. I'm going to try to get one itty bitty mile in today. I keep track of my runs on Run Keeper, and I'm really looking forward to getting back into a good routine of three or four runs a week, about two miles each, and maybe one three mile run a week.
  9. Alright, I'm in. I commit to putting on at least a smidge of makeup every day BEFORE my husband comes home. Sometimes (errr... most days, lately) I just get busy with the kids and everything else and I look a little bit like a troll by the time he gets home. Don't nobody wanna come home to dat. At least some mascara, sheesh.
  10. Every pack needs a slow runner, right? I mean - I make everyone else look super fast. You're welcome! This is my second NF challenge and I'm pretty excited to be joining the Scout guild. I just finished my first 5k. I had the misfortune of being sick with a head cold (and choosing to eat chili the night before... horrific rookie mistake, I'm sure) but I still made my goal of finishing in under 40 minutes. I'm planning to run another 5k in October and I think I can shoot for 38 minutes or less. So, here we go! Main Quest: Part A: To be able to finish a 5k race in 38 minutes or lessPart B: To be able to do one complete pull-up... my arms are useless noodles. Mini Quest One: Consistently run 2 miles three times a week in under 28 minutes, for the next six weeks Mini Quest Two: Ist pick: Strength train two to three times a week for at least 30-45 minutes each session, for the next six weeks2nd pick: I'd like to at least make it to the gym once a week. Just ONCE a week! I have seven kids, so it's difficult to get out of the house sometimes. But we have a gym membership in exchange for doing web work for the owners, so I'd like to not work for free. Mini Quest Three: Lose at least 2 more pounds in six weeks. I've lost over 45 pounds since February of this year. I have about 10-15 left to lose. Current weight: 158.8 Life Quest: Complete at least one Tough Mudder or Spartan Race in my lifetime.
  11. Cool beans! I'd be jazzed to be a scout! I completed my first 6 week challenge on NF, and found it super helpful to stay focused. I'm coming up on another 5k next month. I might be doing some major league lurking until the next 6 week challenge. Thanks y'all!
  12. Hi scouts! I'm just popping in here for a quick look around. I guess I'm a runner, I just finished my first 5k race this weekend. I'm trying to figure out where I belong - and I'm definitely interested in the scouts, but I don't know if I run quite far enough to belong? I'm really just interested in 5ks, nothing much longer than that. I'm a little late for this current 6 week challenge, so maybe I should just lurk for a while?
  13. I'm not sure where I belong. I am currently training for my first 5k race, but I'm also focusing on strength training as well. I'm interested in the Rangers, but not actively involved in any sports or CrossFit. But I don't think I run far enough for the Scouts.
  14. I've got a w00t to share! When I started the six week challenge, my run pace was two miles in about 25-26 minutes. Now I'm getting two miles in about 24 minutes! It's great to see progress. Still working on being able to do a pull up LOL
  15. Thanks! Is it okay to add +1 CON since I've been eating super clean, and participating in a three week detox challenge? It wasn't a goal I set here, but it is an accomplishment. If not, it's totally cool
