  1. Baby steps! I signed up for a gym, today is my first day! I can do this!
  2. OOOH that sounds cool! I might try that, I looked at some ideas and people have made trees, and hearts, and stars and all kinds of shapes out of post-its!
  3. Thanks! That's a great idea, and absolutely the first day is the hardest. I'm actually going today. I went and signed up for a gym membership! Baby steps!
  4. Anita, Thanks for the links, they're great I will look into them! And no, that wasn't hard to read. You misunderstood where I am coming from. My fiance is so super supportive, the only issue between us is our work schedules. He's on nights and I'm at school and work during the day. It makes it difficult for us to work out together, and I hate hate hate working out alone so I just don't do it. I lack my own motivation and he just can't always be home at the same time as I am. He is my rock, and I am his. We are a team and this fitness journey is one we started together because we both want it.
  5. Hey everyone! Just wanted to say thank you all for sharing your stories! I'm still about 30lbs from my goal, and I have been on the edge of giving up continuing my journey. I hit that "good enough" stage, but finding this thread has re-kindled my flame. If anyone feels like they are stuck, please feel free to message me! Together we can all reach our goals! <3
  6. I was issued "women's briefs" but they still ride up, especially in issued PT gear, so maybe I should get some men's and try those! Thanks for the recommendation!
  7. I think I'm going to do the next challenge! Also, I know it's old, but re-reading this article just helped so much! http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2014/01/23/dont-want-to-exercise-use-the-braveheart-technique/
  8. It sounds like you know me personally, I DO have a major competitive streak (though I wouldn't say it's to compare how I measure up, I just love to win), I've done martial arts off and on since I was young (so maybe that's why it is easier in a social setting, I just can't afford classes right now), having accountability to someone other than myself is a must because I know I won't do anything without it, and the way he looks at me when I tell him what I've accomplished makes it worth it (I just need to make myself do it I suppose). I don't want to say that I blame anyone other than myself for my lack of motivation, but with sports and exercise I always had someone there to make me go to my class, go to practice. I never had to do it myself. Now I just can't seem to make myself and it is so frustrating! You guys are awesome, thank you so much for your advice!
  9. Thanks JPrev, I know it's gonna be baby steps to get where I want to be!
  10. I wish I has the extra income to join a gym or a class, but I have asked friends to exercise with me. None of them will. I guess I need to find more friends lol
  11. My role models are Lady Alanna from Tamora Pierce's Lady Knight series (can't remember the titles), Mulan, Katniss, Merida (Brave), Petra Arkanian (Ender's Game), Tris (Divergent series), Hinata Huga (Naruto - mostly because of her fight with Neji), Lady Tsunade (also Naruto), Hermione Granger, Minerva McGonnagal, Sherrif Jody Mills (Supernatural), and so many more that I just can't think of off the top of my head! Edit: Also, River Song, Amy Pond, Black Widow, Cat Woman, Xena, Susan Pevinse (Book version), and Bonnie Bennett (Vampire Diaries)
  12. My fiance and I have been in the forums for a while, he kinda active and I quietly observing (he's also in the academy). He's so motivated and it makes me excited to be on this journey with him, but talking about the exercises we want to do is great until it's actually time to do them. It's like a switch is flipped in my mind/body and I just lose all motivation to get up and do the workouts. Does anyone have any advice other than "suck it up and do them anyway?" My fiance has tried reminding me of our goals and why we started, and that helps, but I need to be able to get myself to work out on days he can't be there with me. Thanks
