  1. Week 1, Day 1

    It Easter Monday and the start of the challenge. Woke up and decide it was a nice moment to stand on the weight scale and see what my weight & bf % was at the start. Currently i weigh: 88,5 kilograms and have 20.5% bodyfat. Hopefully i have both of those down at the end of the challenge.

     

    Started the morning with 2 group classes, a friend of mine posted a message on facebook that she was giving 2 classes in the morning and everyone was welcome. I'm not a member at that gym but i could join without any problems. So i went and had fun, i sweated....A LOT! and had a great start of the day. Got home, ate a banana and a lunch meal and chilled in bed. 

     

    After a while i got out and played some Overwatch, had some good games as Reinhardt and Brigitte. And had a good dinner.

     

    Right now i'm in my evening routine (cleaning up, posting in here and reading a bit) and hopefully this helps me post everyday/more often :)

    Grandkai joins Overwatch

     

    Last couple of weeks i started going back to the gym and started playing more Overwatch. And with the next challenge coming up i thought: "Why not combine the gym & overwatch for a kewl challenge?" and here we are. Using a few heroes for a few goals i want to focus on this challenge.

    I am back in the gym and the goal for the challenge is to get stronger with the basic lifts, pull-ups & dips. And also burn some fat away.

    So i'm going to continue to follow the Stronglifts 5x5 but add the Pull-ups & Dips in it. And when the workout is done do a 5-10 minute Tabata/Circuit with a kettlebell to get the hearth rate up and sweat a bunch.

    I've gained some weight since last year when i stopped exercising regularly (duh obvious) and i want to get healthier again and lose some weight. 

    For the next weeks i'm going to focus more on what i eat and make sure i consume less sugar than before. So no cookies, soda, energy drinks etc.

    And i'm going to try and go from 2 cubes of sugar in my only cup of coffee a day to 1 or no cubes of sugar.

     

    Eat more fruit

    Consume less sugar than before

    2 liters of water every day

    With weight training i realize my muscles are going to very short and tight. So besides doing #5 Minute Flow every morning i want to do 2 Yoga workouts

    a week at home to be and stay flexible and have strong joints.

    I'm doing a 100% game goal again. I had a burnout with gaming but i'm feeling much better with it and i decided to 100% Mass Effect 2.

    I only need to do the Insanity play-through and then i have it 100% and i'm roughly half-way with the play-through.

  3. Week 2 Review

    So not a whole lot of posting here....

    Last week i got 3 workouts in, but did a set less. My mind has been going more into the next challenge and going back into the gym instead of focusing on the bodyweight workouts i'm doing right now. I've been looking at a good program to do when i go back and it is making me lose focus on the current workouts. 
    So i'll probably be looking at a gym upcoming week and go for a visit. 

     

    Still eating an apple in the morning & during work, so no changes there :) and enough water :D 

    Skill practice's isnt going as well. I am noticing with the less focus on workouts i'm also losing focus on doing the skill practices & am instead gaming more. 

     

    Life Goals (cleaning dishes after use & clean up before bed): these are going AWESOME!!! my apartment feels so clean every single moment. I'm really glad i started this.

    Tasks: Had the last few days free and i thought: yeah im gonna clean up everything nice and easy during those days.....NOPE!!! did nothing for it. Even tho its easy to do. Well still have 2 weeks to clean a bunch of stuff up. 

     


    So yeah week 2 went...eh.

  4. Week 1, Day 4 till 7

    Near the end of the week the night shifts became less tiring. But with me being tired i also felt not energy towards any Skill practice :( i have a tendacy to stop doing anything if i'm hurt/tired. Not great. But my thumb cut is almost completely healed. 

    I have been doing my LIFE Goals, cleaning dishes after being used and cleaning before sleeping so thats already something good.

     

    Upcoming week i only have 2,5 days of work so more time to clean up and have more focus on my goals!

     

     

    I was watching The Lego Movie 2 yesterday and one song is stuck in my head....the lyrics of the song literally go: this song is gonna get stuck in your head

    And it did!

    Och, that transition is always rough; self-care is the way to go there. Hope today was/ is less tiring (although I think they say the second day after loss of sleep is worse). 

    The days through the week became less tiring. Near the end of the week i felt 100% and now the night shifts are over :D i think next time the night shift is gonna be easier.

    indeed...i could have done those. But i did nothing...but i got the bandaid off my cut and its almost healed so upcoming week its back to action.

  6. Week 1, Day 2 & 3

    On day 2 i got my Duolingo & Juggling in, making small progress. And started playing the Division 2, its not bad so far. Have to get used a bit.

     

    Day 3 i was really tired. This is my first night shift week again in shift work (alternating between night, afternoon & morning shifts every week) and i felt really tired, i didnt want to sleep before work but i knew if i didnt i would be really freaking tired half-way through the shift. So i slept 90 minutes but man did i feel better after that. 

    Didnt do a workout because i cut into my thumb at work and i needs to heal a bit more before i do anything with it (a little bit of force on it hurts, but a lot less than when i cut in it).

    Also had to vote and that with the sleep and tiredness made me forget to do my Duolingo & Juggling.

     

    But something i thought was funny: with nightshifts it feels like my mind is always working to stay awake and i was thinking about stuff to do with my twitch stream (taking a break right now to figure out when & how to stream) and also the next challenge :D where i might go back to the gym and im excited about that

     

    Well anyway...day 2 was good, Day 3 wasnt as good.

  7. Week 1, Day 1

    Had a good night shift and i already got everything pretty cleaned before i went to work and when i got home i cleaned up my dirty meal container. Through out the day i cleaned dishes when i used them and already feel the benefits.

    Also got a decent workout in, was following the program pretty good UNTIL....... You say Run came on in my playlist. That song gets me so HYPED & ENERGIZED!!! so i skipped the rest and just circuited through the rest of the workout. I knew about the song for a while but i only really started watching it about a week ago.

     

    Did my German practice & Juggling (started juggling with 3 balls) and have loads of time to relax and clean up parts of my apartment.

    I remember seeing it in previous challenges but I don't recall what the 5-minute flow entails. Is that like Tai Chi or something totally different?

    Yeah its a really fun game and its FREE!!!! 

    But i really needed to change up the way i cleaned up, some days it went great and other it went terrible. And if i have the house cleaned up it gives me time to do focus better on working out & skill practices.

  9. Adding a few "Life" goals & tasks i want to complete at the end of the challenge before we start the challenge tomorrow:

     

    Life Goals:

    • Cleaning the dishes after using them; i used to clean dishes and such using a pomodoro technique but lately i saw that i would skip a day or 2 because it wasnt a lot of stuff that had to be cleaned. So as you can imagine the stuff would pile up and i would end up cleaning everything on the weekend, which i hate. So i'm gonna clean my dishes within 15 minutes after using them. Also have it as a habit task on Habitica.
    • Tidy up before going to bed; a lot of times i would leave controllers/laptops and such around the room when i went to bed. And then wake up the next morning with a mess, so as part of my evening routine i added tidying up before i go read in bed. Also a task in Habitica.

     

    Tasks for the challenge:

    • Throw away all old boxes of paper; i have a bunch of boxes of stuff i bought and kept being too lazy to throw them away. So for this challenge the task is to throw them ALL away.
    • Clean up Built-In closet; i have a built in closet where i have documents, cables, tools etc laying around. I want to make it more organized so everything has its place. Already did some stuff yesterday and organized it all in small boxes with labels. 
    • Tidy up Kitchen: Gonna change the layout a bit from the kitchen cabinets contents so everything is more efficient and easy. For example: i have all my spices in the top cabinet which makes it hard to find a certain spice, i also have supplements up there but hidden away i want to make these more visible and easier to grab.

    Fitness: Every morning when waking up do #5 Minute Flow, Workout 2-3 times a week with Startbodyweight Routine

    Health: Eat an apple in the morning and as snack during work, drink atleast 1 liter of water a day

    Skill: Continue my German & Juggling practice. 

     

    Those are pretty much my goals for this challenge. Mostly the same as with the previous one, i only added #5 Minute Flow in the morning. I used to do them but i stopped doing them for some reason and i want to get back into it because i liked the results i got with it. 

    People that have followed me with previous challenges will note there is no "Gaming Goal" because currently i'm having a burnout with gaming. I'm slowly getting out of it but i dont want to rush anything or set a goal to stress me out. When i feel like i completely lost my burnout i'll perhaps add a gaming goal again.

  12. Week 4 update:
    so this last week i didnt post as much as i was hoping. I was really tired from going back into shifts and i really freaking hard hit my elbow against a metal bar. That hit made sure i didnt workout the rest of the week cause i couldnt bend my elbow for a few days without it hurting. 

    First week of rotating shifts was a bit tough, i had to work from 2pm till 10pm and in the mornings i didnt really know what i wanted to do, even tho i put stuff in my calendar to do. And in the evenings when i got home i was tired and went to bed earlier than i used to when i was doing rotating shifts all the time. So i went to bed at 12pm instead of 2am. But thats gonna take time and eventually i'll reach that again.

     

     

    eeeh since its also the end of the challenge lets do a end review:
    Overall....i did better than last challenge. I got a lot of German & Juggling practice in, worked out 4 weeks (with week 0 included) and made progress with it. I kinda lost momentum when i started my rotating shifts, but i know i'll get back into the groove with every passing week. 
    Fitness: this went well. Got workouts in, had fun with it and i'll keep using this for the next challenge.

    Health water: this went a lot better when i started drinking less zero sugar energy drinks. I do need to put my water bottle on a table so i can see it and grab it instead of near the couch were i cant see it.
    Health fruit: i changed to apples in both the morning and during work and that was great. next challenge i want to add in banana's to make pancakes for breakfast/lunch/after work food.

    Hobby: nope, nothing done. had no desire to play them. I kinda hit a gaming burnout last 2 weeks with not knowing what i want to play, which was weird cause i was also thinking about playing a lot of games. I'll have to see what i'm gonna do with this.

    Skill German: went great till last week, which is kinda sad cause i had a nice streak going.

    Skill Juggling: see above 

     

    So i did oke with this challenge, better than last time. Things i have to re-learn with the upcoming challenges are pretty much:

    - Get used again to shift work

    - How & when to properly learn skills during different shifts

     

    I do have to say that going back into these challenges (i think this is number 3 for me after being back) have given me more direction in life. I'm doing more to Level Up my life and that just feels great. Now i just need to get the social side of the forums back ;)

  13. Week 3, whole week update
    The week went well, got workouts in & German lessons but throughout the week i lost my steam. Got home from work and was tired pretty much all the time and not wanting to do anything. Not a whole lot more to tell. 
    This week (week 4) im going back to rotating shift work and it gonna be rough since my body got used to my sleep schedule the last 4 weeks of early shifts. Hopefully i'll get some stuff, i will wait and see how much energy i have for everything.

    Its a free one. I found a website called Speech Logger which can type down what i say in Dutch and translate it in 5-10 seconds. Its not perfect because if it doesnt recognize what word i say in dutch it shows a bunch of number and that isnt translated. But its a start, ill have it up next time i stream and ill see how it goes.

  15. Week 2, Day 3 till Day 6
    I had a great week. Learned a lot of new stuff at work and killed it with my workouts. Haven't skipped a workout day yet, i was close to skipping on Friday but decided to do it anyway and had a great fun workout. And i believe i have a 6 day Duolingo streak right now :o :D  Juggling is going good, think i'm almost ready to throw 3 balls. 
    It feels pretty good having such a streak and i hope i keep this going. 

    Yesterday i was streaming Anthem and during that stream a buddy of mine came along and subbed to my channel and he is my FIRST SUB on my channel and that feels pretty kewl to have someone subbed to you. And currently working on getting CC & have it Translate so i can stream in Dutch but have English subtitles.

  16. Week 2, Day 2
    Yesterday after i posted the update i played games for an hour or so and ate something and then i got pretty tired. Went to bed on time and read a bit before i went sleeping but in the middle of the night i woke up with my iPad next to me and open. So apparently i fell asleep with my iPad and woke up later in the night. It was weird cause i cant remember it....anyway!

    Today was a decent day, no workout today so chilled a bit with some Call of Duty Blackout before my Pomodoro & Skill hour. Duolingo is going good, i'm just doing a subject and getting it to level 4 and then continue to the next one. Jugglin went good aswell, got a decent amount of consecutive throws/catches with 2 balls.

  17. Week 2, Day 1
    Starting the new week good, got back from work and immediately my workout. Got some nice reps in and can now progress to a new level with some exercises. Took a quick shower, grabbed a bite to eat and started cleaning & skill practice. Got a few levels in Duolingo and a bit of practice in Juggling with 2 balls. 
    And finished one Electoon Medallion in Rayman Origins. 

    So great start of week 2 and now i just need to keep that flow going.

    I can borrow the Department Q series from Jussi Adler-Olsen from my parents so i'm reading that in the morning (should keep me busy till August/September) and i just started reading "I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level" light novel series for in the evening (should keep me busy till May). 
    If you have suggestions let me know. I like to read fantasy, comedy, romance type of books in the evening and in the morning pretty much anything.

  19. Ugh i had a rough week, a lot of overtime and tiredness after it. Well lets update something

     

    Week 1, the rest of the week

    I had a lot of overtime this week so most days i got home at 4-5pm and i was really tired when i got back. Did get a second workout in on Friday so i got 2 out of 3 days in, but the weather is also getting better so perhaps i'll add running on Saturday or Sunday....have to wait and see.
    Drank enough water every day. Felt really good despite having to go to the bathroom a lot :) Fruit went so-so...did bring a apple everyday to work but i bought strawberries and, even tough they were supposed to be good for another 3-5 days, they felt a bit hard & werent as juicy as normal. So i went with a apple in the morning aswell.
    Spent a little bit of time to play the 100% games, not a lot. Got a annoying achievement gone tho, riding 130 miles on a horse. I just went to a open space and stuck my controller stick in a way that i just kept running circles and i left and got groceries, when i got back it was done :D 
    German practice & Juggling didnt go well....gonna focus more on it upcoming week.

    - Immediatly workout when i get home, instead of eating a bit first and then working out.

    - When i'm done with my workout and showered immediatly start with cleaning & skill practice

    - Spend 30-45 minutes on achievements before i continue with my main stream game

  20. Week 1, Day 1
    So here we go we start with the new 4-week challenge. Made a decent start, the night before i went to bed on time and read about 25 pages in Wolf & Parchment, its getting pretty intense right now and i already have a book ready to read after this one. I need to hurry a little bit because i also have set a reading challenge to myself to read 24 books this year. It should be do-able since i already read a book in the morning and a different kind in the evening, but anyway:

    Had a decent & fast workday and when i got home i got my workout in. Did some supersets to get a nice flow and pace through the workout. After that i did some cleaning and juggling, forgot about German practice but i can do that a bit before i read in bed. 
    Spend the rest of the day mostly relaxing, wanted to play some games but wasnt feeling it.

    I hadnt thought about the German/English thing because I'm fluent enough in English that I don't have to translate it to dutch first in my head.. so yea it does sound like a book would work better then. 

    Maybe once a year i go snowboarding there. You can get down from the top pretty fast, so a day or so is enough for me there. If i go to Winterberg its more to see my brother.

    I...never thought about the train. Dont know how much longer the travel time is. They also have the option of a bus but i want to be able to go there and leave when i want and not be dependent of a bus/train.

    Do you live close to the German border? 

    I used Duolingo for a long time but its German to English, not German to Dutch. Not that my English is bad that i have trouble quickly changing it to Dutch but i think if it was to Dutch everything would go a bit better. And i think with the college book i could learn faster & more efficient.
    I live an hour away from the border & it takes me roughly 3 hours to get to Winterberg were my brother lives. So its pretty easy to go to Germany but i have no car so if i want to go there i'll have to rent one.
