The next one is supposed to start next week, so you just have a little head start or a practice week before riding with the herd. Just be sure to post a challenge thread in the new forum after they've created it!

    Amren reloaded

My muscles are screaming, my whole body is aching, but I managed to walk the full 21 km through mud and rain! I think that counts as sports, even though it's not a high intensity sport Better yet, I convinced myself to have veggie sticks (carrots & cucumbers) as a snack, which means I also achieved full scores for the third quest this week, yay. Tomorrow a new week starts. If I don't forget I'll measure up my current weight. I need to remind myself to pack some more carrots for lunch break. Seeya! Week 1 (Started later so there's only two days left of the 7, whoops) Sweets-intake successfully limited [2/2] Doing sports [2/2] Eat enough veggies/fruits [2/2]

    Amren reloaded

Bam, today was a good start. Finally got to do some shopping again, after two (!!!) years. I bought two cheap pants because I literally had no undamaged pants left, but they are a bit on the small side; well, now I have more motivation to lose that weight, haha. I also bought some facial skin care products and a new perfume (I figured I could improve upon personal hygiene and body care). But most importantly, I bought a jump rope! Tonight's dinner was veggieburgers with a salad and a nectarine and it was tasty. No fries, no meat, plenty of veggies and even some fruit (and I don't normally eat fruit for some reason). So I'm satisfied about that This evening I did one sports session with various different activities. I did a small warming up, I did some rope-jumping. I did the beginner's work-out but then my muscles started to scream in unexpected places ('huh, do I have muscles there?), so I decided to leave it at that and finish up with five minutes of wild random creative dancing to 'all about that base' that happened to be on the radio at that moment. I am not sure whether it was 20 minutes in total, but I deem it good enough. Tomorrow my dad and I are going to do a hike of 21 kilometers. Well, as far as you can call 'walking through flat, watery landscape' hiking; the Netherlands aren't very challenging in geography. Wish me luck, I've never walked that far in one go. My personal record is 18 km.

    Amren reloaded

Long story short, I'm back to try again after messing up twice Main quest: In the long run: 72 kg >> 65 kg For the coming 6 weeks: Lose 4 kg (>> 68 kg) Quest 1: Limit sweets/snacks* intake to one occasion a day *Chocolate, cookies, chips etc., excluding the snacks that are really just meant as a not-too-unhealthy convenience food such as fiber-loaded breakfast biscuits. I know once a day is still a lot, but at the moment I'm eating much more than that, and easy does it, right? Quest 2: Do sports* at least 2 times a week for at least 20 minutes *Beginners work-out, cycling, jumping ropes, zumba, etc. As long as I get to move my lazy ass! Quest 3: Eat veggies or fruit twice a day Currently, I only eat vegetables with dinner, but I'd like to teach myself to eat them for lunch or even breakfast, too! Life quest: Spend at least 30 minutes a day doing homework (Gosh, I got so much on my plate. I bet these 30 minutes will have to be extended to several hours a day for the coming few weeks, but I'd like to get into the habit of doing something useful even when there's no pressing deadline due!) Motivation: I want to be able to control my life and habits! This will make me awesome, healthy and efficient Logbook of efforts and achievements Week 1 (Started later so there's only two days left of the 7, whoops) Sweets-intake successfully limited [2/2] Doing sports [2/2] Eat enough veggies/fruits [2/2]
  5. Hi guys! Most people won't know me because I've not been around much the past few months. I discovered this website one or two years ago (can't remember, but it was autumn at the time), and I wanted to challenge myself to lose some weight and get more in touch with nature However, I'm horrible at prioritizing and I have some exhaustion issues (that are now partly solved since finding out I have a vitamin shortage), and some motivational issues, I've moved homes in the mean while, been to China for a couple of months and so on and so on. Well, here is what it comes down to: I'm back to my old habbits Sooooooo I'd like to start over again. I'm still extremely busy (university, making jewelry, learning Mandarin). This time, I want to focus mostly on a better dietary pattern and losing some weight by prioritizing sports and cooking over apathic couch potato Facebook time. I'm going to think hard about what exactly I want and how I'm going to achieve it, and will be reading the nerdfitness blog all over again Good to be back, I hope I can make it this time. I mean, OF COURSE I WILL MAKE IT Greetz! - Amren

    Amren returns!

Thaankkkss this one is far nicer than the one already present in the apartment , can't wait to finally being able to cook again!

    Amren returns!

Haha well I was gone again, wasn't I? We still don't have a functional kitchen at our appartment, but that will be fixed in about two weeks... To make up for my huge failing at this challenge, I'm going to a] sign up for Badminton before the end of the month and b] participate in the Dutch national vegan challange april 2015; the latter will help me eat more vegetables and to expand my cooking repertoire

    Amren returns!

Aaaaah no I slacked off again I wasn't quite mentally prepared. However, I did do those workouts a couple of times (yay), I've been eating vegetarian relatively often and I've been walking a lot (to go to university). Doesn't that sort-of count? I know, I'm a bad girl not keeping to my promises to myself.

    Amren returns!

Hi guys I'm not strictly 'new' here and this isn't really my first challenge, but I'm applying as recruit because I quit halfway through my first first challenge back in october. This was because of some stressfull life events, amongst others a forced moving houses... But now that I finally have the key to our new appartment, I will be able to start anew and try again. My long-term goals are to lose some weight (~5-10 kg), to become closer to nature and to learn to cope with stress effectively *Under construction: will finish this when I've unpacked all my computer stuff and such*: Quest 1 - Food for thought Eat vegetables with every dinnerEat vegetarian dinner at least once a weekEat fish at least once a weekQuest 2 - Move it Make a 10 minute walk every dayDo the beginner's workout 3 days a weekFinally sign up for a sport (badminton/dancing/gym) within the next 6 weeksQuest 3 - Practice planning Make and complete a to-do list with max. 3 items every day. Hope I will make it this time. I might adjust the quests instead of giving up on them altogether if I don't have the time for all of it. Pffff busy life
  10. Update: I'm now also learning Swedish (as part of a challenge on facebook)... I'm still a beginner, though
  11. I love hiking and canoeing Ooooh I soooo want to go. Wish I'd had the money already

I follow classes once a week at my university and teach myself using memrise.com and the books we had to buy in class (I'm working ahead because I'm a geek). :)

  13. Ugh laziness, kills me too I was too lazy to cook yesterday, so I got myself a pizza. Hiking may be a good idea though Fresh air, bit of movement. I should do it, too, but then again: laziness xD
  14. Great stats, I'm proud Such high percentages
  15. Niiiice go you Edit: Aaah I'm jealous, you're doing so much better than me. But good for you, keep it up
  16. Hihi thanks I'm a very weird person in that my interests tend to flit from one thing to another (sometimes I have the feeling I have ADHD or something)... So I've gathered quite a lot of hobbies over the years, some of which I've stuck to longer than others, and now I've discovered that languages are fun and that learning them is an exciting exercise for the brain. I hope I'll stick to this, and not give up in a few months.
  17. Thanks for the tips and your offer I don't know a lot about Afrikaans, but I suspect it's an interesting language to a native Dutch speaker. I can remember that, in highschool, my friends and I used to look up Afrikaans words and try to make sense of them for fun. (in many cases, you can clearly see what the word was derived from. e.g. the word 'padvark' which is, I think, someone who drives like an idiot, could be translated as 'road pig'. Not sure whether this is true or not, but I liked speculating about it with my friends)
  18. Native language: Dutch Languages: English (fluent) - Dutch (fluent) - German (advanced/fluent) - Mandarin (beginner) - Gaeilge/Irish (beginner) - Swedish (beginner/intermediate) Contact: PM (then later on maybe FB or skype or whatever else )
  19. I'm glad the earrings are suitable for your challenge-activities I can feel the sporty vibes, haha I feel a bit ashamed that I've let go of the challenge for this week. Next week again, maybe Busy time coming up because we need to move to a different appartment soon, which is very stressful... 'been lying awake a lot thinking about finances and our sweet cats On the other hand, I've taken up an Irish course on duolingo.com - I've always wanted to learn that weird language! Sooo now I'm studying two languages at the same time but in totally different contexts (chinese in class / paper, Irish on the internet) so I can distinguish easily and I haven't had trouble keeping them apart yet Sorry I don't write more often, please forgive me
  20. Hey Sorry for my inactivity. This week has been and is going to be very busy (lots of homework, another presentation coming up, mother's birthday, work, etc.). So busy and stressful, in fact, that I haven't found time nor motivation for this challenge. I've failed miserably! I will try to take it up again next week, though And I'll try to do my 10 minute walk all the same. But no new vegetable this week, and the weather has been too glum for cycling Anywhooo I steamed the artichoke with some butter and garlic on the very last day of the past week. However, the taste of the bamboo steam pan was overwelming, I should have used parchment paper! And my honest opinion is that fresh artichoke is just too much work and waste plant parts for what's actually edible. Pfew.
  21. Hmmm avocado with homemade tzatziki - I should have this for lunch more often!

  22. Your eating experiences in Japan sound awesome! I can't say that I'm not a teeny bit jealous Good luck on the running
  23. I have NO IDEA what to do with them! Tips are very welcome hihi Congratz to you, too
  24. 1. Allocate 10 points to your quests Quest 1 = +2 CON, +2 STA Quest 2 = +3 WIS Quest 3 = +2 STA, +1 WIS 2. Do a mid challenge summary and rate yourself on a percentage scale Quest 1 = I'd say 90%. Though I didn't do perfectly with the whole grain resolve (and I think that's because it isn't manageable with my busy lifestyle which forces me to eat with my parents and such once a while), I did try out at least one recipe each week with a new vegetable. I also did kind of well with the fruit, especially if you're counting smoothies, which I didn't. So I 'ate' a lot more fruit than it says in my 'Progress' Quest 2 = Ah yeah.. Well I know it says that I studies successfully every 5 days in the weeks.. but that's just a quantitative measure. The quality of my studying skills has a lot to improve upon - I still get distracted a lot. However, I did manage to start studying earlier and stopped procrastinating as much, so I guess it was somewhat successful in the end. Change doesn't happen overnight, right? I'd say... 70% Quest 3 =80% First two weeks went perfectly, I even overdid it by doing two cycle trips! However, the third week didn't go so well because of a small illness, and I think that half of my walks were not of high quality because I tended to combine them with other stuff (going to the shop etc) in the midday instead of morning, whereas I wanted to use this to chill out en wake up. But overall, I did pretty well on this so 80% it is 3. Using your rating, allocate points to your challenge so far. You can round up/down if you don't like fractions (like i do). 90% of +2 CON and +2 STA = (1,8 and 1,8; rounded up) = +2 CON and +2 STA 70% of +3 WIS = (2,1; rounded down) = +2 WIS 80% of +2 STA and +1 WIS = (1,6 and 0,8; rounded up) = +2 STA and +1 WIS YAY 4. Update your signature with your points Check 5. Let us know how you've allocated Check
