  1. A mixture of super busyness and asthma. Mixed together I was just so exhausted this week I couldn't get anything done. Good news is I'm getting a barong in the coming weeks (a machete of sorts from the philipines). I'll make up for it this week.
  2. GAH!! I fell behind! Somehow a whole week flew by and I don't feel like I got in half of what I should have. Good news is I started learning two new forms.
  3. Long mile walk uphill to the grocery store today.
  4. Update: Did two hours of yoga and meditation yesterday, lifted weights, escrima practice etc. I've decided to use the Ultimate Yogi dvd's daily to build up my knees for squats and arms for pushups. I'm nowhere near capable of doing the complete Ultimate Yogi program so I'm picking and choosing which dvd's to use each day.
  5. Thanks! The only advice I have is go slow with the knees. Try to build up the muscles around the knee joint. For me, I tried an intense yoga session and whenever they did any poses requiring the knees to be bent, I would barely do them, just enough that it worked the muscles without causing pain. When I was finished my knees were pretty sore but not too bad and the next day the pain was completely gone. So be gentle. Don't do squats unless you are barely doing them. Know what your knees can take. I trashed my knees at work running up and down stairs at a retirement home with trays of food and lifting people. It only took a year to cause them to be in that bad of shape and I'm only 26. So, be careful. Take your time with stairs too and use ice packs if needed.
  6. Lot's of training today. Working on setting up a yoga routine or something too for stretches.
  7. Sore from work out and tweaked wrist. Gonna take it slow today. I have zero muscles at the moment because basically from November to January I had pneumonia and then a cold. One right after the other. Yesterday did an hour and 15 min workout and 55 partial push ups. Still can't do full push ups yet. There was jumps, punches, kicks, and flying sticks not to mention joint locks etc. Ended up twisting my wrist swinging my stick awkwardly for a number 3 strike. It figures the wrist locks wouldn't be the cause. I had to pull something stupid.
  8. I use them in class. My teacher calls these type of escrima's 'the skull bashers'. lol. They're pretty heavy and really sturdy. Definitely going to be grueling, but I don't think there is any way around it and I really really wanna be able to earn my black belt in the future.
  9. Looks like today with be devoted to snow shoveling. Got an epic long driveway to shovel for my neighbor.
  10. Yikes! I'm a week late to post this! Sorry!! But, I got my bada$$ escrima sticks this week.
  11. Main Quest | Arnis Skills Mastery Got a lot to do, just got my yellow belt in: mma, boxing, kickboxing, arnis, karate, jujitsu. <<IN PROGRESS: >> Quest I | Strengthen Legs In 2013 I got a double knee injury at work. I couldn't walk, my kneecaps were off track and they still are. They grind, scrape, you name it and it hurts a ton. But I have to be able to do 100 squats by the time I get my black belt. <<IN PROGRESS: >> Quest II | Operation: Get a Job! Memorise all my flashcards for insurance and go for my pre-license exam. <<IN PROGRESS: >>
  12. Declaring this challenge a success and moving my daily yoga/arnis challenge into my new 6 week challenge thread.
  13. Not sure yet. Awards are on the 29th. But they didn't say I flunked just 'that's all I needed to see.' with a smirk. So I'm thinking I passed. Finally got over that horrific cold too! Also! Did JuJitsu on Thursday. I was the only person not to get their legs sweeped and hit the mat. I was even paired up with a higher level student. Bad news. I realy suck at flips and tumbles. ... Worst in class.
  14. Soylent the drink not the movie http://www.soylent.me/ Finally took my arnis test. Still to weak to do any boxing in class, but I'm hoping to start slowly working up to it.
  15. I think I'm going to go to class on Monday night guys. I'm tired of being at home and I know my teacher will take it easy on me since he's been worried about me being sick and missing class. Wish me luck. This pneumonia or whatevers is slowly dying. I'm finally getting in about 10-15 minutes of good practice in a day. Still don't feel 100% with my lungs but everything else is good. Guys. I'd never leave ya!
