  1. Wow! That's great to hear!!! I had no idea Habitica had a phone app. I remember when I checked it out it was desktop based. . . at least I think it was >_> Checking it out now! Hey it's the very reason why gamers grind for epic loot lol. Rewards hit like a hammer for humans. Our primitive minds definitely appreciate that. "5) Honestly I have changed how I track and motivate myself SO MANY times, and each "new start" creates a boost of momentum/energy. It's why I don't really do New Year's resolutions-- every couple months I make new "resolutions" based on changes in my life, so that resolutions on NYE seems an artificial start date. Maybe one day I'll find a system that works consistently, or that I keep up for more than a month at a time." Meh there's nothing wrong with that. The big acronym in Steve's book, which I've seen countless times before but never in that swanky acronym, RAAD, Reevaluate, adjust, adapt, dominate. I'd seen it when I was studying Tony Robbins sifting through the marketing stuff to try to find something good We're constantly making micro adjustments to get to our goals. Even the simple task of driving requires countless micro adjustments in steering and speed to keep the straight line lol. That's great that it's working for you I'm downloading it now lol let's kick some ass! For the Rebellion! Douglas

  4. Ah drat I was given an iphone once upon a time several years ago and I'm not inclined to jailbreak it so no Android apps for me I messed around with Habitica for a while though. Didn't quite suit my personal purposes but maybe it'll be good for you though! Well Let'ssee this is my 6th challenge I guess? I have yet to get A's or even B's across the board for that matter. I've failed constantly, fell off the horse constantly, and came up short again and again. The big thing though is that not only did I try but that I was better at the end of it than I was at the beginning. I've learned about myself along the way too. Now that weak little rant aside don't get too hard on yourself. You have the wonderful blessing of being a fallible human. The point is that you're pursuing improvement. That makes you better than like 90% of people you see that are content to lazily float through life. Take it easy, acknowledge that life arises and do your best to adapt to the situation. You'll be alright For the Rebellion! Douglas
  5. I wonder if there's actually a person that comes out and takes count of a person's animal collection? XD
  6. Figured I laid it out pretty well that it was RPG inspired. Thanks for dropping by regardless. I'm a bit of a slow reader and I'm slowing down even more to try to take notes on what I'm reading so it's even worse than normal. I'm on Chapter 15 at the moment. I made some progress noting what I've already read today and brainstorming some new concepts. We'll see how it plays out. Still needs refining though.
  7. It's been an absolutely great read. I feel like I'm getting more out of it than any self help book in a long time and have already been implementing some of the bits where I can. My biggest problem is keeping notes on it because I usually read it in bed For The Rebellion Douglas
  8. >_> How has no one responded yet!? Welcome back! Sounds like you have a really full plate of things you're looking to accomplish. Sounds like a lot of fun to me:) I'm glad that you were able to make a lot of positive changes even if you eased off in other areas. It's good to have you back. For the rebellion! Douglas
  9. (Googles) Tome - Noun - a book, especially a large, heavy, scholarly one. Basically in RPG terms it's a big book of ancient knowledge that give you points for using it. In Warcraft 3 your hero can acquire a "Tome of X" that permanently increases whatever stat X is whether it's strength, dexterity, life, what have you. Also it's often a companion to a wizard or warlock with spells and incantations passed down through the ages.
  10. Allo everyone I live in Southern California close to Fontana, I'm from the high desert and attended VVC before moving down here. I RPG with a group of friends on Skype that live in England because I really don't have any local friends. I also love Destiny I play on the Xbox One that I was gifted on Christmas. I'm painfully self conscious and have concerns with anxiety that basically sabotage me when I try most things involving the outernet I used to paintball and airsoft like crazy but haven't had the time for it in quite a while and was looking to get back into them! Airsoft moreso tbh. For the Rebellion! Douglas
  11. (viciously googles Athenaeum) Um. . . yes! Very much so yes that word is a lot nicer than college. These titles aren't set in stone but I needed something to convey my message. Yeah that third category has been a thorn to deal with lol there's a lot of stuff that might go into it. I think I'm going to stick with the idea of 4 categories for the time being allowing the third (the mind) to function that way. Well I'm strictly considering this in the Fantasy RPG sense and from my experience monks tend to be spiritual, introspective bordering on religious individuals (Jedis?) So that does work. I'm going to be that guy after I get off work today and bounce over to a Starbucks and robble for a while since there's a lot of reading I've done in Steve's book that I haven't implemented yet and I want to work on this. Thank you for dropping by Will keep you posted! For the Rebellion! Douglas
  12. Wow! Great job walking your path It's not easy listening to your own voice and making the choices that affect you the most but it looks like you've come far since first joining! Keep it up! For the Rebellion! Douglas
  13. Kick ass! It doesn't matter how it happens just that it happens. Great job! For the Rebellion! Douglas
  14. Heck yeah! Get it done Panda! For the Rebellion! Douglas
  15. Trident, Welcome back! Glad to have you Look on the bright side, if you're only taking 1200 steps a day right now then any little bit over that is going to be better than where you're at! Good luck to you For the Rebellion! Douglas
  16. Great to hear you're getting your grind on! When I was reading on Kettlebells I read a good deal on Turkish Get Ups and Kettlebell Swings for helping athletes with shoulder injuries. I'd research that a bit and maybe the other more knowledgeable nerds can help there. Either way best of luck and welcome back! For the Rebellion! Douglas
  17. O.O Wow! I'm just glad to hear you were able to help heal your arm! Now unfortunately it seems like some kid came and deleted your old save file so you'll get a fresh run! Welcome back! Now get out there and level up! For the Rebellion! Douglas
  18. Just be simple and straight with your friends. I've never had a situation in which my friends openly put me down on my goal. They might not support it but they respect it and that's enough. That's great to hear you're grinding in a foreign land and thriving! My only big tip of advice is that the war is won and lost in the supermarket. Make sure that when you're mentally blown out from school that you have healthy things to eat at home. That alone can make a huge difference! Best of luck on the coming semester For the Rebellion! Douglas
  19. Can't speak on this with personal experience but I do know a few girls that will specifically buy guys clothing in certain things for that exact reason. It's a nightmare clothes shopping for my mom (who's on the larger side) because the arms are tiny but the torso is big. It defies logic! An upper arm that's not even big enough for my forearm, but a chest area that I can huddle in? What!? For the Rebellion! Douglas
  20. Why there's still ten days left in the challenge! There's still plenty of time. You set out to track the habits in your life so you could be more conscious of where you're spending your time. Sure you got hit with some side quests brought on by random NPCs (Read : Life) but you still got some data out of it that's got to be more helpful than if you'd never started at all. You can use that knowledge to jump into the next challenge I bet! I'm curious though if you don't mind. What app are you using to track your habits? It sounds interesting. Best of luck Sails! Finish the fight For the Rebellion! Douglas
  21. Doesn't sound so bad to me Sounds like you're still making progress even if it's small steps as long as it's forward! Keep it up Ed! For the Rebellion! Douglas
  22. 2015 seemed to be a rough year for a lot of people. The game isn't over, though you can keep going Don't forget the Rebellion is filled with likeminded people struggling with their own problems and looking to support one another. If you're having a hard time talk it out! There's gotta be someone on this forum that was going through similar things not too long ago or maybe they're going through it now! The Rebellion wants you to succeed, wants us all to succeed. Best of luck with your respawn! If you run into hard ground give a shout out! Heck I'll help if I can. For the Rebellion! Douglas
  23. That is great to hear! It's always a surreal experience moving to a new area. It can almost feel like being in a still forest even if the world around you is flying. It's new, you don't know anyone so the world just sort of unfolds around you. I can't really speak on it in too great a detail myself but when I moved to college (There's a crutch right there lol) the first thing I did was used the opportunity to design and build my batcave. Made it very supportive since I knew I had the time then before I got into other things with life. From there I'd definitely suggest checking out Meetups to find some people in the area with similar goals and like Jordeas said definitely just wander around the area. Get your XP in for exploring the new zone! For the Rebellion! Douglas
  24. Hi! Thank you guys for dropping by It's been a fun if painful start. I'm moving slowly with working out. Last week the gym was empty but Monday it was like everyone collectively hit the reset button and were trying to get back on the horse. It took me a freaking hour and 15 minutes just to get to the power rack to squat! Smith machine be damned. Still, worked it hard and trying to really focus on slow contained movements. I noticed immediately I had to back off on how much weight I had been moving but it felt like I was sticking to proper form a lot better. I don't have my workout journal with me now but Yesterday was squat, bench press, and deadlift. Squatting I had to drop back to 130 lbs + bar for 3 sets of 5 I noticed when I was doing heavier weights that my back would bend closer to parallel with the floor so I lowered the weight until I can lift it all in unison. Bench press pissed me off. It's always been my weakest element even though I have a pretty big torso naturally. 3 sets of 5 at 95 lbs and I failed on the last rep of the last set but because I'm going slowly (I don't have a spotter >_>) I was able to simply rest it on my chest and wiggle it down to my waist. Deadlift is good but my grip is definitely the weakest link. I keep losing my grip as I go through it so I'll add in some grip exercise to help. I'm a bit hazy here but I think I lifted 180 lbs at 2 sets of 5. I'm dead lifting completely overhand grip atm so next session I'll swap to the over under as I work on my grip strength. Damn left hand. . . Reading Well I've been reading Steve's book a chapter a day and trying to implement bits and pieces of it. It's a damn enjoyable read so it's easy to stick with. Meditation Been doing it every night for 5 minutes. I'm trying to maintain a full lotus position, but holy crap it is eating up my right knee. Overall it'sgreat although I noticed on the last couple nights I was having to mentally nudge myself back towards empty thoughts. Mental workout ftw! I don't really have anything else to report but. . . yay progress! For the Rebellion! Douglas
