  1. Thank you! Love the comic. xD So far, so-semi-good. Finalized prep for the rest of the week/weekend of some chicken thighs and steamed veggies - it smelled so good while I was cooking this morning, that I'm actually SUPER excited for dinner in a few hours rather than the usual mindset of "I know I brought dinner, but Chipotle sounds so much better..." Overslept this morning and completely spaced on my morning plank - but will make up for it and do two before bed this evening, one tall and one forearm. Excited to continue with this challenge and nervous at the same time. This weekend is our biggest event that I (mostly) run myself at work, so I know the convenience of fast food is going to be incredibly tempting. I've got fruit, yogurt, pre-packaged carrots and dinners prepped though - so it's all convenient. Woo!
  2. Hello, all! This is my first experience with being "active" in the Rebellion and not just on the Facebook group of fellow lady rebels, and I am committing to commitment and planning on seeing this challenge through! I know I'm a couple of days late, but better late than never? A tad-bit about me: I work full time as a communications/relations manager, which is a fancy way of saying I sit at the front desk and smile a lot! (I mean, there's a LOT more to it than that, but still.) I am also a full time graduate student (online) with just six months left until I have a Master's of Business in Project Management! WOO! I am unfortunately one of those people who "doesn't have time" a lot (as an excuse, of course) when the reality is I sit for a few hours each morning watching Netflix, I sit at work, and then I go to bed. So...yeah, I do have time, and that's where my level-up quests come in! I absolutely love Zombies, Run! even though I'm pretty slow-going. I have a 3DS and mostly play Pokemon and Animal Crossing New Leaf, occasionally Happy Home Designer. I love using my Wii Fit and Zumba for the Wii U, and am slowly but surely working my way through Dragon Age: Inquisition! I will try to update regularly, but a nudge or two would be appreciated if I don't. Fitness: Core: 30 second planks twice daily (wake up, before bed) Health: Zombies, Run! Five days a week (be it a jog with chases, or a walk with no chases) Balance: Yoga three times a week Diet: Prep ahead: No fast food on weekdays, only once (or not at all) on Saturday or Sunday Snacking: "An apple a day keeps the doctor away.." At least one piece of fresh fruit daily in place of a salty/sugary snack. Level Up Your Life: Education: Dedicate 20 minutes (at least) to reading materials every weeknight. Healthy Habits: Park farther down the parking lot at work three days a week. Mindset: Five to ten minutes of meditation during dinner breaks three days a week.
  3. Thank you! I definitely can use all the accountability in the world, so I'll for sure remember that offer!
  4. I've read the newsletter for a long while, and finally joined about a week (maybe two weeks or three weeks...time seriously is going by fast here!) ago. Now I'm finally gaining the nerve to actually post. I'm not the best at "being part of something," but I can't shake the feeling that this group is something I should make an exception for. So here I am. A few months ago I was at my heaviest weight, despite joining a gym last October. This is when my boyfriend's sister introduced me to Nerd Fitness - and told me to read Staci's story. I read it, and realized I was killing myself with cardio and not much else. And that my way of eating healthy wasn't necessarily the best. So in August, I got together with a personal trainer, and I have loved every. Single. Minute. Of strength training. Now, I haven't lost much on the scale, but I can tell the inches are fizzling away and my energy levels are awesome. I've recently re-added cardio (jogging, mostly) to the mix, and am enjoying it more than I was before I started strength training. In terms of what motivates me...my health, really. I don't need a "bangin' bod" (of course that'd be nice too. ) so long as my body can do what it was put on this earth to do - BE ACTIVE! Nerd factor...I'm a closet Neopets player (gosh that took a lot to type out), Animal Crossing, Pokemon (including the cards, and online TCG), more movies than I can list, The Walking Dead...I'll be totally honest, ever since I started watching TWD, a big motivator has been "preparing for the zombie apocalypse." While I don't 100% believe that'll happen (anytime soon, at least.....) it's nice to have a fun motivator to keep me going! My ultimate goal is to run a Spartan Race, as well as to complete the Spartan Trifecta. I can't remember what else I should post, if anything, to my "hello I'm Michaela and I'm new" post. So...there's that. I'm excited to read more and learn more through this community!
