  1. For sure! Looking at the amount of activity you have scheduled throughout the week, you remind me of the first lesson I learned - make sure you have rest days where you either just do cardio or nothing at all (maybe stretching/yoga?). Your muscles need time to recover if you intend on getting stronger and you may find yourself burned out sooner rather than later if you push to do something every day. You can always post or read up in the "help me build a workout" section if you want more help with that - I am certainly no expert on the matter. From what little I've read, I think 3+ consecutive days of working out is only really needed once your strength levels plateau at an intermediate level (i.e. you've done everything you can from diet to routine and can't lift heavier anymore after x weeks) - and at that point your workout plan becomes more complex than "do XYZ each day." At the same time, do whatever seems to be working for you, but please be careful
  2. Awesome! I plan on becoming one of them thar Rangers in about 7 weeks... at least I think that's where I'll be heading.
  3. Nice workout indeed! Cool to see that there are others among us who embrace dumb bell workouts
  4. Long ago, I made considerable pushups progress by following the plan on here: http://hundredpushups.com/ They have you do an initial test and tailor the number of sets and reps to your results. You can always do pushups on your knees until you're strong enough to do them otherwise if you find the level they put you at to be too hard. In any case, good job keeping at it! You'll get stronger before you know it. And yes, keep trying things until you find something you enjoy. I personally loathe bodyweight exercises as a whole and much prefer to lift weights.
  5. All I heard was "I'm still kicking ass to my fullest extent despite some badness being thrown my way." Keep it up!
  6. Doing good! Arms barely work after my workout today. Looks like you're kicking all sorts of ass in many a quest
  7. Welcome! I've recently joined as well and already made a few friends who have bombarded me with advice and just been generally awesome, so I'd say you made the right choice (both of you!) Nice work with starting with a battle log - I've found it definitely helps to keep me immersed in the "kicking ass" continuum that is levelling up life. See ya around!
  8. Ah, missed the week three post up there. I think I'm starting to see how this works now. Nice touch with the music
  9. Hi there! AshPs (who is awesome, I might add) mentioned this thread to me - I've just started working out about a week ago and my battle log is here: http://rebellion.nerdfitness.com/index.php?/topic/54939-cinalycs-strength-forging-adventure-time/ I suppose most of my 'accountability' shall come from updating the battle log, but I'll check in here every week as well? How does this even work? You have permission to harass me with a PM if I don't post back?!?! That should do it for now. *shrugs and runs off to finish building workout plan*
  10. Hi everrrabody! I'm just about through my first week of workouts and I've committed to doing something every day if at all possible. Since my legs were worn out from hiking, I decided to come up with a dumbbell circuit for my shoulders/arms instead of doing the Beginner Body Weight Circuit and I frankly have no idea if it makes any sense. It goes as follows (based on the exercises listed on this page): Alternated biceps curl: 5 reps (each arm) Shoulder press: 5 reps Kneeling one arm row: 10 reps Lateral raise: 3 reps (I can barely do these! weak shoulders) ^ I repeated four times Next time I plan to add: Triceps kickback, Upright Row, and perhaps shoulder dislocations at the end to stretch? So, is this insane/too complicated, or does it actually sound reasonable? I plan to alternate this with the leg exercises from the Body Weight Circuit every other day. Thanks in advance for any help. For anyone else who sees this and is wondering, this page is very helpful. I seem to have missed it when going through the Strength Training section
  11. I actually started looking at the guilds shortly after posting - I'll definitely be joining one later today (or at least figuring out how to join - I saw challenges to be completed). The battle logs sound like a good idea too. Thanks!
  12. Hello everyone, Over the last few months, I've had more time to notice and care about how unfit I am. Yay! Two days ago, I decided to make a lifestyle change due to my decreasing energy levels (as well as overall mood) and increasing extra baggage - I currently weigh 185 lbs and I assure you very little of that is muscle at this point. At the moment, I'm still figuring out exactly what to do - though I've started by doing this workout every other day (or the 1.5 circuits I managed anyway...), short sets of dumbbell curls/floor presses with heavy weights, and making it a point to avoid eating complete crap (read: grains, sugars) once again. Glad to see there's a recipe forum on here, as one of the serious issues I've had is getting enough variety while keeping up with the crap-avoidance All of that said, I do need an accountability system or I know this will not last. I will come up with a "levelling up" system as per recommendation, though I think I will join the Academy course since that looks like more fun. I do love challenges, so hopefully one of those two will do the trick. Does anyone have any other suggestions for me? (I don't think I'm going to bet $500 with my friends, money does not motivate me). Thanks in advance for your help! And hi! P.S. This site is awesome.
