  1. StarShine1975 - how are you? I trust you are still doing well! Give me a shout if you don't mind dialog about what you're doing to keep succeeding in health / fitness.

  2. I haven't been doing shoulder circling. I'll try that for a few weeks and try again. I find it strange that I don't feel anything when I do lat pulldowns or shoulder presses. I only feel it when doing a chin/pull up. I'll do the warm up and try the chair assisted pull up tonight and let you know how it goes.
  3. Hello fellow rebels. I've been doing assisted pull ups/chin ups for a while now. About 1.5 weeks ago, I went from 80 lbs assistance to 70 lbs assistance on a chin up. I did 2 and felt a hot searing pain in my left shoulder (deltoid muscle). I immediately stopped. I did some assisted dips (without incident) and went back to assisted pull ups at 90lbs. The burn/pain was still there. I gave up on them for the day. I've not done them for about a week and a half and during that time, I have not felt the burn/pain in any other movement including when doing lat pulldowns. I tried them again this morning and the burn/pain was still happening. Does anyone have any idea what's going on and how I can fix this? I thought resting it and starting back up at a higher level assistance would do it. I'm going to try doing chair assisted pull ups tonight and see if I can feel it on those. I'm hoping that it's just the angle my shoulder is at on the assisted machine. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Star-Shine
  4. @Native88 Is it Norcal in Patterson? That's the one I'm doing.
  5. Thanks for the advice everyone! I need to find me some real world things to practice on. I wonder if there is a boot camp type training ground around the Bay Area. @FeloniusMonk Thanks for the link. There is a lot of great tips on there. =)
  6. I'm a huge MyFitnessPal.com fan. Feel free to add me. Same username. -Star
  7. Hello All! I just signed up for the NorCal Tough Mudder in Sept. Has anyone who's done Tough Mudder before have any advice on the training? I am starting to run (which I hate) and I am continuing my heavy lifting. I am focusing on finally doing a damn pull up because of the rope/wall climbing involved. I am also thinking of doing some swimming too. Any advice or tips would be awesome. Thanks! -Star
  8. I see you are still active in the community. How are things going? I've been working out. Once my shoulder and knee healed, I kept going.I just joined Tough Mudder and I am preparing to die from it. lol. But I did get up to 13 push ups and 95% Paleo still. Lost more weigh and gained more muscle. I hope things are well with you. =)

  9. Somehow I completely jacked my shoulder up. I've pulled this muscle before (2 years ago) and basically have to rest it. Problem is, I went over my list of exercises and every single one of them uses my shoulder. =( The only thing that wouldn't is BW squats. I think I'm going to have to use the weight machines in the mean time to be able to at least do something. Even planks hurt. I'm so frustrated with getting old! Blah.
  10. HIIT today on the elliptical again. Did 1 min surge, 1 min recovery for 65 minutes. Burned 993 cals. Need to burn off this holiday!
  11. Thank you ETF! I tried to talk myself out of going today, I'm glad I didn't. Here are the results: Copied from Fitocracy: Totally failed on the planks. I forgot my headset and the gym was packed, so I had to go into the aerobics room that has zero music and there were 2 women cackling next to me non-stop about their thanksgiving food. I just couldn't focus. I did however get up to 7 Push ups. Woo Hoo! Now off to eat some Prime rib. =) StarShine1975 earned 911 points for: Barbell Bench Press: 55 lb x 10 reps (+38 pts) 55 lb x 10 reps (+38 pts) 55 lb x 9 reps (+37 pts) Barbell Squat: 85 lb x 20 reps (+73 pts) 85 lb x 20 reps (+73 pts) 85 lb x 20 reps (+73 pts) Push-Up: 7 reps (+13 pts) 5 reps (+9 pts) 5 reps (+9 pts) 5 reps (+9 pts) Side Plank: 40 sec (+36 pts) 40 sec (+36 pts) Plank: 113 sec (+51 pts) 60 sec (+27 pts) Body Weight Inverted Row (Let Me Ups): 15 reps (+31 pts) 11 reps (+22 pts) 12 reps (+24 pts) Stiff-Legged Barbell Deadlift: 80 lb x 15 reps (+62 pts) 80 lb x 15 reps (+62 pts) 80 lb x 15 reps (+62 pts) Stair Machine: 0:25:00 (+123 pts) 102 floors 2.12 miles Stretching: 0:15:00 (+3 pts)
