  1. I have a plan for my intervals but there's lots of wiggle room. I started a little bit ago with two minutes walking and 15 seconds running. I thought, I can do anything for 15 seconds, and I was right! I've been gradually upping my jog time 10 seconds at a time and lowering my walk time. I'm at 2 minutes running and a minute and a half walking. Sometimes I jog a little bit longer so I can walk more on the hills. I've been varying my distances too but generally no less than two miles. I find the audio workout really handy. I live in a small apartment so being able to listen to it on headphones not in front of the TV works well for me. The downside is that there isn't a picture handy if I get confused about what the movement is.
  2. This is my first 6- Week Challenge. I finally realized that I am only 32 years old and was sedentary. I was working at my desk all day and coming home and lounging all evening. I started to hurt and I'm too young to have aches and pains. I stumbled across Nerd Fitness because I was looking for a walking challenge to get me out of the house and my search found the Walking to Mordor post (I'll be in the Midgewater Marshes in a few miles). For my first quest, I want to take the jump from walking, which I've been doing regularly for about two months (and feeling so much better BTW), to running. My husband should be running and I'd like to go with him so we can exercise together. I'm going to work up to a 5 minute warm up, 20 minute jog, 5 minute cool down. My three missions are to do "Pilates for Runners" (an audiobook work out) 2 times a week, do walk/jog intervals for at least 30 minutes 3 times a week, and support my fitness by making sure I eat a non-starchy vegetable or fruit with every meal or substantial snack. I can't wait until I can do a normal jogging cardio workout without dying!
