  1. Never ever take a laxative and a sleeping pill on the same night, results will not be nice. I agree!! Waking up in a bed splattered with your own stank-filth is much worse than waking up tired! P.S. ...wasn't it first Confucius who first said this nugget of wisdom??
  2. hahaha unfortunately no I cannot switch gyms because well, my current gym is about a 5 minute walk from my house so I'm not gonna find much better than that. Thank you for the squat link however its really helpful. Appreciate all the assistance guys, quick responses too!
  3. I'll definetly try the powercleaning idea you suggested man, and deadlifts sound like a good alternative to squats, I agree. The thing with deadlifts tho is that I'm 90% I do NOT have the form right and it worries me a bit to do them at all, but maybe I'll give it another try and see if I can get it down this time.
  4. Hey guys, I'm a new member but I've been reading the blog for quite some time now and I've got a question on something I haven't come accross yet on the site. I'd say I'm an intermediate level weight lifter, been working out for about a year solid now and I've went from 143lbs at 6 feet tall to my current 164lbs by following Steve's advice. Keeping it simple, an upper body press, pull, and leg work then I'm done my workout and my only other job is to eat as much as possible, and it works. My problem is that I've hit a kind of functional wall with some of my excercises. For example, when I'm doing a dumbell overhead shoulder press I use about 50lb weights in each hand currently and this is good but I cannot see myself using any heavier weights because I have trouble getting them from the rack up to the starting position. I basically have to throw the weights up in an uncontrolled jerk and catch them. Obviously, this puts a strain on my shoulders and could cause injury so I am hesitant to progress any further. What are my options, use the shoulder press machine? As with Steve, I do not like machines and prefer the natural method. So what am I left with? The same goes for squats, I refuse to use the smith machine so Im basically stuck with hurling the barbell over my head before squatting, and my gym does not have a squat rack... Please help!
