  1. Yep, I'm still here. I'll try to get an update posted either here or in my own thread in short order. I chatted with my wife about this and the offer still stands. One thing she suggested right off the bat is that since you are creating a new one from scratch, make sure that you're writing it with the job you are trying to get in mind so that you're tailoring it for that type of job as opposed to the one you already have.
  2. Congrats! https://38.media.tumblr.com/fa0204c28861974c30d39531fe7ae16d/tumblr_moiandoQkm1r7u68so1_500.gif
  3. Chiming in! I'm still alive and on top of that, I'm now back home after having flown back late last night and having to deal with the furballs (who are nowhere near as big as Mister or Mouse but have just as much attitude). I'll have to make an update in my own thread, but so far things are good. The PT schedule has changed to meeting only once a week instead of twice a week like had been the case. Best of luck to you on your test. My wife does that kind of editing for a living. I could pass it along to her if you're interested, but I also see Elinox offered as well.
  4. Congrats on the chance to potentially see Butcher at Dragon Con. My friend will be going there in a Dr. Who costume and is looking forward to getting to his first convention. Also, since we spent a lot of time traveling yesterday, I got a chance to get a lot more reading done and have finished Proven Guilty. Wow so many things happened in that book that I didn't see coming. At least, I didn't see them playing out the way I originally pictured they would. Still such a fun read.
  5. Things have been so busy that I fell behind in keeping this up to date. Sorry about that. I'm actually at my sister's home at the moment meeting my youngest niece. She's quite the cheerful little 8-month-old. Back to this, though. Fiber in that particular chocolate milk turned out to be surprisingly good. The first time, I tried stirring it with a spoon, but that didn't mix it enough. The next time I tried, it, I put it into one of the shaker bottles we have and that turned it into a really creamy mix that was nearly twice the amount due to how it expanded. As for the color of the office, I'm still trying to figure that out. I tried this gray color that turned out to be a bit too dark. Since we're on the road at the moment, I will have to try a different color some other time. The walks were rather hard to fit in some nights. On Wednesday, we didn't start walking until well after 10:30. Yesterday, we actually walked back and forth in the airport between terminals. That worked out rather well. I wouldn't want to make a habit of it, but yeah... it worked. I'm going to have to try hard to make things work out for the tasks during this long weekend of the visit to family. I'll have to ponder on it a bit and see how things go.
  6. Ok, so here's a bit of a wrap-up. Last week was pretty decent. I got 5 out of 7 walks completed. Ideally I would have gotten all 7 done, but given that I didn't get home until well after 10 on those other 2 days (much like today, in fact), it was too late to get the walk completed. The PT proceeds nicely. In fact, with last night's appointment, she commented that she liked how things were going and upped either the weights, the # of sets, or both for what we worked on last night. Very cool. I've tracked what I've been eating and now it's time to start the reflection period to make sure I'm incorporating more of the foods the nutritionist recommended. This will be a bit of a balancing act as I also have to make sure I'm keeping up with the protein levels I want to help rebuild some of the muscle I've lost due to lack of workouts since the accident. Last bit is that I got the checkbook all reconciled and current. That took the full weekend to get done instead of just one of those days so there was more there than I was anticipating. I'm glad that's done. The finances are almost all complete now. In the meantime, I picked up a possible paint color for the office that I want to check out on the walls. I need this to be more personalized so that it' a place I want to use more often and more effectively. Back to the grindstone.
  7. Fantastic progress all around. Great job. Congrats to your husband on getting into the line of work he'd rather be doing. That's sometimes really hard to make happen. How goes the tracking? Looks like you're still using pencil and paper if I'm reading that correctly, right?
  8. Hmm... I've noticed that it's pretty easy to accomplish things early on in the challenges. It's the finishing strong part that I have to work harder to achieve.
  9. I'm still early-ish in the book. Harry has already dealt with a first visit to the convention and subsequent visit to the hospital where he learned they were dealing with a phobiaphage. I haven't had a chance to read it more over the past couple of days, but I suspect there will be more time coming up in the next couple of days. The first week was pretty decent overall. I'll put an update in my own thread with details, but in general, I'm pretty happy with how things went and with progress on all tasks.
  10. Cool. TIL: Mrs Dash is still a thing. It's about time for a spice purge. I might have to check to see what flavors are available. Maybe I'll find something that's good on beets, though I tend to prefer radishes myself.
  11. I've recently started reading Proven Guilty. So far it's pretty decent. Seeing the way he reacted to Molly was.. amusing. His discomfort with the situation was almost palpable. So far this week is doing ok. I've gotten my two PT appointments done. I'll have to do my third day of PT exercises tomorrow since the second appointment was last night and I need at least a day in between. How's everyone else doing this fine Friday?
  12. This week is going pretty well. I got my two PT appointments in. I'll have to do one more day of the PT exercises, but that will be tomorrow since my second appointment was last night.
  13. Try looking into things like Mrs Dash (is that still a thing?). They tend to be low salt or no salt seasoning blends that are (relatively) low to no calorie and can be a way to spice up the veggies as you try new ones. Don't forget that you can try cooking them in different ways to get different tastes, too. Grilling asparagus is a nice alternative, but steamed with tons of garlic is a favorite in our household.
  14. Re: MFP, It's useful as an app, but there are times when I use the webpage version to do things, like when I'm updating weight and other numbers in the progress section for multiple entries. I'll use a written log for when I'm stepping on the scale to measure weight, MM, BF, and WW. It'll be a few days later when I remember to put those notes into MFP and that's where the webpage is most useful. The phone app doesn't allow you to change the dates when putting in that information. I like the idea of writing things down first and then updating a website, whether it's MFP or a battle log here. You can control when you make the updates in that fashion. Hmm... I should go make some updates to my thread.
  15. I also like the theme and as one of those currently using MyFitnessPal, I can speak to its effectiveness for tracking not just food but exercises as well. Subbed!
