  1. Nice challenge - good luck! (I also save up goals specifically for beer. oops) maggie
  2. Hi, Nice goals! Hope you're progressing well and enjoying it. Warrior dashes sound pretty crazy - good luck! maggie
  3. Hi All, Thanks very much for the supportive replies even after a few days! Update: Completed runs and workout on schedule for this week so far. Running was even quite fun?! No progress on paper so far, but pretty busy with actual work and have schedule for next week when I return from being in Amsterdam for said actual job. Good luck all! Maggie
  4. Hello fellow NF-ers, I have almost managed six weeks on a number of the challenges, but never the whole thing. Why? Lots of reasons, all of which were rubbish. However, I have made some lasting changes from taking part in previous challenges (now lost about 10lbs and am 1lb from BMI guidelines for 'normal' weight) and thinking generally about health and fitness. I toyed with changing my user name to a fresh new one so that nobody would know my past attempts but another thing that stayed with me from previous challenges was how friendly everyone here is. So, here we go again. Also, chance for new geology puns. Fresh Challenge Goals Diet and Fitness: Complete final six weeks of pre-pre-half-marathon-training programme. I already have a schedule for this (3x to 4x week) and have been following it for the previous few weeks. Final goal is 5k at race pace (which for me I am hoping should be just under 30mins) Do the beginners bodyweight workout 3x week starting with one repetition this week to go up to three repetitions by the end of the six week period. Continue to be mindful of what I am eating by tracking calories. Measure any starches (rice, bread etc.)Life Goal I finally finished the paper of doom which features heavily in previous goals and it was accepted with revisions! Yay! so what next? Er, the revisions. Boo Still, they are very concrete and acheivable so let's go for that... Happy 2013 to everyone, Maggie
  5. thanks for the accent compliments rix - even with typing you can hear it? quite impressive! @zengwen. it was bombay sapphire..is that ok?
  6. hi ocelot, thanks for your comment. yes, brighton beach was tempting! i did avoid one of those giant milkshakes though (not sure what the vegan equivalent would be?) planks are going... ok? ... i've missed a a couple of bw workouts, but still doing pushup and planks in the office. i'm generally about 30,30,20-25 seconds.. thanks skirler too - sorry i seemed to have missed you this time round! well, it's sunny, and i'm picking up the SO from the train station and going to look at a flat so i'd better get off the computer! thanks everyone
  7. hi ocelot, don't give up! a six minute mile is very impressive! i think i'm probably jogging at a five minute mile and that can be tough so feel proud! and 6/7 days no sugar isn't so bad right? good luck with the rest of your goals! especially the job one - i know it can be difficult to approach big projects...
  8. Hi Skirler, Missed you this challenge somehow - apologies and thanks for the support on my challenge! glad to see you are still doing these epic yoga moves. i looked up the pigeon/king pigeon pose and it looks amazing!
  9. i know I can't believe the weather! it's always such a shock! were you at the meadows for rat racing? I was, but unfortunately i was drinking a G&T not running!
  10. oh yeah bravissimo is great! do you guys have it in the states? i got a sports bra from there and although it does kind of give you a 'mono-boob' (as i like to call it), it's SO great and comfortable for running. they do good fittings too
  11. interesting! today i have: leftover smoked haddock steamed green beans, broccoli and peas with pesto capers spinach it is warm and sunny so us scots have to grab outside time when we can so that's all to eat as a picnic! yay! if I can remain strong I won't get an ice lolly, but we'll see.... it's only warm enough to eat one for about a week a year
  12. hi from another edinburgher it's actually warm and sunny here today - had to find a tshirt for running rather than long-sleeve shirt!
  13. hi again folks, just checking in to remind myself to keep at it! good news: no nail biting, continuing with c25k bad news: not quite kept up with bw workouts, stil at 11st13lbs after a rather wild birthday weekend in brighton for my SO. i had fish and chips, and ice cream, but it was brighton and sunny and on the beach! been fairly strict apart from that so i guess no change is better rather than worse? hope everyone else is getting along fine too! maggie
  14. WOOHOO! I weighed in at 11st13lbs this morning! that's the first time i've broken the 12st barrier (168lbs) in years. technically only 3lbs to go until i am in a healthy BMI for weight (I'm 5ft8inches)... just wanted to share!
  15. hi maxpower, i'm loving the bear versus gun handle! was just listening to a podcast last night about blunt objects (caustic soda) and they were discussing the efficiency of rifles as clubs. no bears were involved though, so i think you win. nice progress!
