  1. I meant my posting streak. I was 3/3. Then I... pulled a me and disappeared. Because that's how I roll. But yup - totally in a great place.
  2. Days 004-007 And there went my streak. Oh well. Time to start anew! Thursday was okay. Hit the gym, did some reporting, went to chiro. Only to be told at chiro that my insurance has changed the way they do reimbursements to the chiro office. Go figure. So, now I need a script, which I'll get at the end of the month when I go to see the PT doctor. Probably a good thing, anyway - my lower back is still twinging, although I haven't had any flare ups in a while. I'm calling this progress. Also, better lifting and running form and not over training. But. Anyway, went home, nommed noms, collapsed. Such is my life. Friday was a snow day, so I worked from home. Had a bunch of impromptu calls regarding reporting (and a new project that has a deadline of Monday afternoon, but I wasn't actually given the data until an hour before COB on Friday, so whee fire drill Monday), but other than that, kind of lazed around. Didn't do much of anything. Considered bjj, but I didn't want to drive to class in the snow, plus I was already planning on going Saturday. Saturday was bjj! Didn't stay the entire time after class for randori - super tired, plus my partner tweaked my elbow when trying to do an arm bar. >.< But I managed the 90 minutes of class, plus about 15 minutes of rolling after, so I figure this was good. Hilariously, we did not go over the chokes from earlier in the week (I should expect this by now from Professor T), so I still have no clue if I'm going at it with the wrong hand or not. Alas. But I did learn some new escapes from side control, including a sweep, as well as an arm bar (which is where my partner tweaked my elbow). So, yay for that? Came home, showered, nommed, tried to kill a dragon, go killed, restarted my binge watching of South Park until stars came home. Then we started watching MasterChef Jr, which had TWO new episodes, and omg bitties! :D Kagetsukai came over to have a cookie party with stars (some sort of food box thing, idek), and then all three of us took down our holiday tree. Bed came early, which was very, very nice. ♥ Today started out with a 5M run. On snowy sidewalk. Whee, resistance training! It also started off with me slipping on a patch of ice and falling on my ass. On the bright side, bjj has definitely instilled body memory, because the minute my feet left the ground, my hands went out to break my fall. So instead of destroying my ass and back and head, the majority of the impact when to my hands, so only my hands and butt kind of stung. Huzzah! Anyway, the run was fine, Shaved about half a minute off of last week's time, which is nice, considering conditions were much better last week than this week. Came home, ate a banana, showered, and then tried to kill a dragon. Got killed by the dragon. Said 'fuck it' and watched the Simpsons until stars came home (are we seeing a pattern here??). Then we ate lunch and are now just kind of chilling out. This evening's plans include a Kohl's run (our Kohl's cash expires today) and dinner with B and C downtown. Pizza! Onto the challenge summary thing! Rescue the Boys by Choking Bitches With My Thighs (aka bjj - 3 classes a week) - 3/3. Saturday morning, hit the first part of Basics with Professor A, then transitioned into Women's Basics/Intermediate with Professor T. Then stayed for some rolling after class. Sometimes the Millennium Falcon Needs a Push (aka lift - 2 sessions a week) - 2/2! Lifting was had on Thursday! Bench press, barbell squat thrusters, and deadlifts. I Can't Keep Eating Like an Asshole (aka food - eat only what starsapart says 6x a week) - 6/6! I've been good. I may take my don't give a fuck day today, but let's be real - I ran 5 miles, so I can pretty much eat what I want. XD Besides, I'm not hungry yet, so there's really only dinner, and that's already allotted for... Still Taking None of Your Shit (aka life - figure out 2016 goals) - Additional goal things: sub-00:30:00 5K, sub-01:00:00 10K, sub-01:30:00 10M. Some of these I feel are more feasible than not - I have 3 minutes to shave on my 5K time to get to sub-30, but on my 10K? Thirteen minutes. And on the 10M?? Hahahaha - 29 minutes. Some of these may just become overall goals rather than 2016 goals, so that's fine.
  3. Joy. I'm sure the Veteran's Association can totally use more glass corn.
  4. Day 003 Holy ewok - three for three! Yesterday was rest day. I wanted to go do body weight, but starsapart veto'd that plan. (I thought you were only picking my food, wife - not my workout schedule) Ended up working through lunch so I could cut out an hour early, which turned out to be a good plan considering I had a dinner date with a friend from high school who was in town. I'd known she was in Colorado for work, but kept putting off messaging her to see if she wanted to get dinner (reason number 1: lazy stillskies is lazy reason number 2: what if she says nooooooooooooooo). Finally bit the bullet and sent her a Facebook message and we made plans to meet up on Pearl St in Boulder since starsapart usually has rehearsal. Well, stars' rehearsal was cancelled, so we went home, I made her banana nut bread (we had some bananas that were going), and then I was off to Boulder! I hadn't seen J in over 10 years - not since high school graduation. We were supposed to meet up at Disneyland when I ran my half, but her and another high school friend, S, were always in a different park, or we were in a huge line, and it just didn't work out. But we totally ended up making it this time! Ended up going to Old Chicago's (a place I'm not too fond of, but not a big deal), spent an hour or so chatting with her and her co-workers, and then headed home. If she's in California while I'm out there in April, we'll probably meet up and get food or something. So yay! Yay being social! Went home, showered, crashed. Still so tired lately.... Onto the challenge summary thing! Rescue the Boys by Choking Bitches With My Thighs (aka bjj - 3 classes a week) - 2/3. Not last night, and likely not tonight (there is a no-Gi class at 7, but I think I'll probably hit Basics tomorrow night, barring snowpocalypse). Sometimes the Millennium Falcon Needs a Push (aka lift - 2 sessions a week) - 1/2! Lifting was on Day 4, not 3, so. I Can't Keep Eating Like an Asshole (aka food - eat only what starsapart says 6x a week) - 3/6! Eggs and bacon, some fruit, chicken, pork and milk! Even managed to not screw myself over at dinner (I was allotted a meal and one drink of choice - ended up ordering cheese sticks, which I didn't finish because they were not very good, and a Shirley Temple because fuck yeah Shirley Temple). Still Taking None of Your Shit (aka life - figure out 2016 goals) - Nope~
  5. She totally is. Until next challenge, when someone else will be best Disney Princess. But. HIIIIIIII!
  6. Okay - just wasn't sure. But yeah, I can see you going for the pretty bottle. XD
  7. I swear we have another body wash in there aside from the B&BW stuff, but we may have tossed it in the move. I don't remember. :*
  8. That sucks. >.< But yeah, definitely not easy on anyone because you want to be able to roll and practice and what not, but you also don't want to hurt your partner, and your partner definitely doesn't want to get hurt. And on the partner's end, focusing on not hurting them doesn't give them any real benefit because you're distracted by trying not to hurt them. =/ It's a no-win all around. My gym is generally pretty good about pairing up people of similar weight - except me. I either get someone with quite a few pounds on me, or someone that I have quite a few pounds on.
  9. Ouch. >.< I regularly roll with someone who has 50-70lbs on than me, and that hurts when she gets in mount - I can't imagine someone with 150lbs on me. Oof.
  10. I don't know. My wrist still has to hit the artery - the gi is more just a handle. Rather than grabbing the back of gi, you grab the tail, which you pull around your partner's head. Now that I'm running through the motions, I'm wondering if I'm using the wrong hand on the Basics choke? I don't know. I'm hitting another Basics class on Saturday, so we'll see if I can figure it out then.
  11. Day 002 Hey, I'm 2/2! It's like a streak or something! Started off my morning by going to the fertility clinic. Cutting it so people can skip because I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who cares about this whole process thing. Also got my thyroid prescription refilled, so that's good. Last time I ran out, I didn't bother to get it refilled for like, a week after I'd run out. Whoops. On the upside, my numbers were good despite taking a week off! Went to Zumba, which was probably a poor life choice considering the headache and the not feeling so hot, but I survived, which was good. And it felt good to move around. I figure this is a pretty good thing considering I've been a couch lump for the last two weeks. I'm tired of being a couch lump. (I am also just tired, but.) The DOMS today are mighty, but that's what I expect when I do barbell squats on Monday, and then 3 hours of various workouts on Tuesday. (More on that later.) Kind of just collapsed when I got home after stopping by the pharmacy - made soup, showered, went to bed. I'm such a lump. Onto the challenge summary thing! Rescue the Boys by Choking Bitches With My Thighs (aka bjj - 3 classes a week) - 2/3. Hit Basics and Intermediate yesterday! Basics was mount attacks (two different chokes and an arm bar that doesn't really look like any arm bar I'm used to, but if I fall onto my butt, it becomes a regular arm bar). It was slow going, mostly because my partner was kind of slow moving and... I don't know. I love D as a person, but as a partner, I'd really rather work with someone else. But I always get paired with her if we're in the same class. Anyway, couldn't quite get the pressure choke right - I'm doing something with my choking hand that's preventing it from hitting the artery. My arm bar was good, though. Intermediate almost didn't happen. Not because of me wanting to leave, but because the professor forgot he was teaching it. At the end of Basics, he'd mentioned that there was kickboxing and randori after class, and I was like, but Intermediate??? Went to the front desk and was like, Intermediate??? And the girl at the front was like, yes, professor is teaching it??? After we got that sorted out, we staked out a small piece of the mat (there were only three of us staying for Intermediate) and worked on half guard attacks (more choking, but with the gi!). For some reason, Intermediate moves are much easier for me to execute than Basics - I'm not sure if this is a mental thing, or if the Intermediate moves just click better for me, or what. But the choke I couldn't do in Basics? We did a variation of it where we used the gi in Intermediate, and I got it, every single time. I don't get it. But at any rate, Intermediate was great (after reassuring the professor that I was not yet pregnant and I could have people choke me and be rough with me - I'm glad he is aware and cares, but dude, I'll let you know) and I got to roll with the professor at the end. Sometimes the Millennium Falcon Needs a Push (aka lift - 2 sessions a week) - 1/2! Lifting on the schedule for tomorrow since today is a forced rest day. =/ I Can't Keep Eating Like an Asshole (aka food - eat only what starsapart says 6x a week) - 2/6! Eggs and bacon, chicken, mac and cheese, some fruit, soup and milk! Picked up some chocolate milk while out last night because still craving sweet, but don't particularly want soda or the like, but want milk and chocolate. I figured this was a good compromise, plus it's good for me! Still Taking None of Your Shit (aka life - figure out 2016 goals) - Haven't done any additional work on this, yet.
  12. Yeah. I totally get that. One of the reasons I tend to jump themes - I like the shiny. The only theme I've done that has carried into more than one challenge was Kingdom Hearts (which I will totally revisit once NOMURA GIVES ME MORE GAMES DAMN IT). I thought about doing Buffy - very monk, much ass kicking - but I feel like that one has been done to death. =/ Yup. Exactly. Little Lord Brat. You should!
  13. Day 001 Well. The challenge started, I did things, and yeah. Good summary. Yesterday was my first day back in the office since the week before Christmas - had a cold Christmas week, a migraine the Sunday before New Year's, and another cold the week of New Year's. Needless to say, I stayed in one place and only left when forced. But I was mostly feeling okay yesterday, so in to work I went. And in to work also means in to the gym. Which was... well. I guess I'm not as recovered as I thought I was. Le sigh.Oh well - still managed my workout, but it was hard won. A headache had started a bit after lunch and only got worse (not sure if this was food related, congestion related, or just my body being a dick) - ended up laying down with my eyes closed for a bit when I got home until it was time to eat. Once I'd eaten and downed Advil, I started to feel a little better, but still took precaution and went to bed early. Definitely not interested in triggering another migraine. Also made a note to talk to my PCP about it when I go in for my physical in March - I'm not used to having this many headaches, and I'm sure as hell not used to having migraines. Urgh. Onto the challenge summary thing! Rescue the Boys by Choking Bitches With My Thighs (aka bjj - 3 classes a week) - none yet. Planning on doing Basics and Intermediate today. Looks like the gym had some schedule upheaval in the new year, and the near-daily Intermediate classes are now gone. Not sure if they're going to remain gone-gone, or if the coach who taught them will bring them back (he had to get a job outside of the gym in retail, so his schedule is now unpredictable, so he doesn't seem to be teaching at the moment), but until that's figured out, looks like Tuesdays will be my double days. That means I may have to look at re-structuring my bjj days (I used to do Monday/Wednesday/Saturday). Something to think about. Sometimes the Millennium Falcon Needs a Push (aka lift - 2 sessions a week) - 1/2! Yesterday was bench and squats (3 sets front, 2 sets back). My entire workout is logged on Fitocracy (sherri15 for anyone who has one!), so if you're interested, it's there. But started with 80lbs for my first set after my warm up, and just felt... so weak. I know this is sickness (I managed 4 of my 5 reps), so I lowered the weight to a set of 70lbs and finished the last three out at 75lbs. Squats were at 50lbs because I have to clean that shit, and hahahaha #nope. I Can't Keep Eating Like an Asshole (aka food - eat only what starsapart says 6x a week) - 1/6! Eggs and bacon, pork, chicken, some fruit, and milk! Which... seems to be my usual (minus the chicken - I am so over chicken), but without any grains. Or soda. Or anything really sweet. I really wanted something sweet last night - settled for some pepperonis and another cup of milk. But yay no grains yesterday! Definitely not going to be the case today since I'm doing 3 hours worth of work outs, but. Still Taking None of Your Shit (aka life - figure out 2016 goals) - Well, I have my potential races for the first half of the year picked out, so that's good. I also know that I'm tracking physical symptoms (for a variety of reasons, but mostly I've noticed an alarming increase in the number of headaches I have, as well as the reappearance of migraines, and that's all no bueno) and one happy thing each day for the year. Mostly so that I can look back and see how my physical symptoms change over the year (hopefully, they go awaaaaaaaay) and can remember that even when I'm not in the best frame of mind, there is always something to be happy about. So, a decent start!
  14. That is awesome. I keep wanting to do book-themed challenges (I'm looking at you Anita Blake series), but the only images I can think of are from the comic series from Marvel, and the art is.... not the best. =/ Ooh. I'll have to remember that when I start in on the series. RIGHT? Totally didn't even realize she was going to be in it! My favorite part is still widdle darth emo's temper tantrums. I'm just like, 'yes, yes, you're a bad little sith lord.' You totally should! Not sure that I'm doing ALL of those (some are on the same day at the same time, so it would have to be one or the other), but I'm doing at least 12 races this year, so. And you should totally do Winter Park Wipe Out with us! (Maaya is going to probably do it) Do eet~!
  15. Also, if anyone else is on Fitocracy, I'm sherri15 over there. Just signed up today. We'll see how it goes...
  16. Eew. I really need to read Pratchett one of these days.... I'm assuming that's not part of Discworld? OHAI I AM HERE? Thanks! Leia is so the baddest ass Disney Princess. Even as a general, she's way awesome. (HAVE YOU SEE TFA YET?) Gonna try!
  17. Alright, putting this here for future reference. Potential (and actual!) races for 2016. The goal is at least one race a month! I can do totally do this! blkhole - any thoughts???? 2015 RACE POSSIBILITIES JANUARY Prediction 5K (1/30 | $5 fee) - already registeredFEBRUARY Neighborhood Fun Run 5K (2/20 | $5 fee + 3 non-perishable goods)Cupid Chase 5K (2/13 | $30)Heartthrob 5K (2/13 | $30)MARCH Winter Park Wipe Out (3/19 | $29) - not an actual race, this is an obstacle adventure thing where drinking and sledding are encouraged fuck yeahErin Go Braugh 7.77K (3/12 | $35)Lucky Laces 5K (3/12 | $35)APRIL Beat Beethoven's 5K (4/3 | $30)Presidio 10 10K (4/17 | $48.25) - this race is in California while I'm there for mi madre's birthdayMAY Colfax Urban 10M (5/15 | $69)Bolder Boulder 10K (5/30 | $50)JUNE Jodi's Race 5K (6/11 | $30) - pretty sure S is doing a team for this one this year; will need to check with herJULY Dog Days 5K (7/23 | $35)
  18. Yeah. We'll see what happens. I'll eventually put together an EPIC QUEST, but right now I'm trying to just motivate myself to do these challenges.
  19. Eh. I created the character, but didn't fill out anything else, really. I don't know - it's just not as interesting to me. Plus, there's no real bjj type monk image.
  20. I shall endeavor to tone down the adorableness as I am generally opposed to engaging in adorable behavior. Snow is totally a beastmaster, but then, so is Cinderella. And Aurora. Basically, it's a pre-req to be a Disney Princess. YASSS THAT IMAGE IS LIFE ahem The only Disney beastmaster image I can find is for Belle. That is always awesome.
