  1. I posted what I got on Elster but I wanted to add a picture here. A very international set of gifts. Cornucopia (a dominion expansion) from the Amazon (South America, right??) Super fuzzy wool socks, shipped from Russia with some cool postage. The creepy but cool bird wing cat toy from a shop in Canada. I'll let the cat play with the wing and take a video to post/link here, but I want to wait until my girlfriend wakes up. She's been working nights. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. I saw you posted the Wild Fermentation book. If you get it, I'd like to know how you like it. I'm into sour beer, and started a batch of kombucha recently, so I'm curious.
  3. Can we have an official unveiling day with photos posted, or should we do it as we go? I'm too impatient/don't read the outside of the packages to see that the items are from by Santa, so I've already seen all of my gifts.
  4. Once you can lift the bar, I'd recommend it. You'll appreciate being able to increase in smaller increments eventually. (My gym has 2.5lb plates for the barbell, but dumbbells only increment by 5lbs, so that's 5 vs 10lbs increase each week).
  5. I'm so confused by that last gift I received.. I can't wait to share it with you all and see what you think. Nevermind, I went to the website for the company that it is from and it makes sense now. It was a little creepy at first.
  6. I have received a second gift from my secret santa. I didn't realize who it was from at first and opened it. It is quite unique. I am looking forward to getting the story on this one.
  7. I got gift number 1 today. According to an anonymous message there are others still in transit.
  8. So what's the consensus on opening upon receiving vs waiting? I'm excited to see what I'm getting and not sure I can wait.
  9. Thanks for checking in. I was good in my exercise (5x) and MFP check-ins (7), BF is down .2%, so not as fast as I'd hoped, but in the right direction. My papers are another story. I'm hoping to put the short week to good use and crank out some words.
  10. Uh oh! Maybe we can use the rocks in the post above to repair the road.
  11. Rode my bike 1.5mi RT yesterday and I saw this geriatric pumpkin.
  12. Hah. Someone added the gifs after I made the post. Love it. Btw, auto correct changed gifs to gods. Also, my cat has discovered more features of my computer than I have.
  13. Sorry about this post. I think my cat jumped on my computer.
  14. Bah, humbug! It just snowed here, I was going to be getting on my rowing machine this week. So the distances are a daily thing?
  15. Moby Dick, Treasure Island? Sorry I don't know any recent books.
  16. Great idea. Presumably, you would then eat less of the 'treat' after all the veggies, and do you ever just not feel motivated enough to eat the veggies and decide to skip the snack all together?
  17. Ok, now I'm confused about the photos/distance ratio. Do we predict our distance for the entire week, and then post a photo at the end, or predict a distance for each "outing"? Or does it need to be the same distance and we just rack up the "units"? So if I know that my walk to school/work is 1.5 miles, I can set that as my distance and then take a photo everyday on my walk? Do indoor trainers count?
  18. My partner, Caolan, rocked his first week. He is on track with ever goal! I'm really impressed that he went above and beyond on several goals (minutes of exercise per day, and under a calorie limit). I don't think he needs me at all for this kind of support. I'm looking forward to working with him on the week 2 challenge.
  19. Thanks for the well wishes, everyone. So far, I'm on track with my quests. My diet was not where I wanted it over the weekend, I tracked it as accurately as I could remember. I worked out 5 days last week and this morning, and I emailed a draft of one paper to my PI, so I count that as forward progress on that goal as well!
  20. Sounds like you can use a "hardhat". Check out the NF blog post if you haven't seen it, then trick, cajole, or whatever yourself to put it on. Then you have no excuse to not work out.
