  1. So last week was nooooooo good. The holidays are tough. I ended up skipping the gym all week and failing all my quests. I did however get all my assignments in on time. At least this week has started off better and I'm back on track with my exercise. As for the soda goal I will be cutting out sodas on Sundays. Finish the week strong. And that goal will be a pass fail goal. Either I drink soda or I don't. My school work is going okay. We got slammed at the last minute with the requirements for end of semester papers. A common theme for this professor. I'm now in the finals scramble so its going to be tough keeping everything going.
  2. So I'm not too sure there is much more than what you guys are already doing. I think for me this is definitely a force myself to just do it situation. I know now that I set my soda challenge too high. Food definitely is an addiction for me. I think I need something a little more reasonable as a goal like no soda on Mondays instead of no soda at all. I also know that for my next challenge my main goal is going to be food related because its what I need to change the most. Very small steps for me for sure. On a bit of an upbeat note though. I was able to get one of my assignments turned in on time yesterday so instead of being late on two I'm late on one for this week. I've got all the info I need on what I have to do to pass my classes for this semester. It will be a bit of a herculean feat but it is possible to still succeed. I just have to live in my school library till its all over. Also despite my weight staying static I am indeed loosing inches. Which is pretty fantastic. I cant fit in anything old yet but for it being the third week working out I would have to say I'm happy with the results so far. I know the weight will eventually come down but for now im replacing fat with muscle mass and I love it. So hear are my stats as of this morning. Measurements: Neck: 15.5" up to 16.5" Upper Right Arm: 13.5" Upper Left Arm: 13.5" Lower Right Arm: 10.5" down to 10" Lower Left Arm: 11" down to 10" Waist: 48" down to 45" Hips: 48" down to 47.5" Chest:52.5" down to 51.5" Left Thigh: 25.5" up to 26" Right Thigh: 27" up to 27.5" Left Calf: 17" down to 16.5" Right Calf: 17.5"
  3. Week 2 Update So I have been in a bit of a funk for the last few days which is no good but I am trying to pull myself out of it. I did pretty well with goals involving exercise but the other two I am still struggling. I am not sure that I am ready to give up soda all together. I didn't do as bad as the first week but its still not up to par. I also missed an assignment last week and today I've missed two. Not too good at the moment. I am really struggling to get focused on school. Week 2 grades: body weight: A Swimming: A Walking: A Soda: F Assignments: -1
  4. Your quests are fantastic. I love the 8 dementions of wellness! That's great that you cut down on half of your wardrobe. I have a similar problem and have a stack of shirts that I have been saving fr that time when I might possibly fit into them again. But I'm fairly certain I wouldn't put half of them on again. Congrats on getting that done.
  5. Yeah. That would likely be helpful. I think i'll try that the next time I want to pick one up.
  6. Checking in. This last week was pretty abysmal. I drank soda every day. Not a good way to go. So far this week I'm doing better only having had one so far. As far as my push ups go I have now racked up 110 of them. This is a lot harder than I thought it would be. I am going to be knocking out about 30 of the push up tonight and then thirty or more tomorrow and so on until they are done or at least until I have to add more.
  7. I'm posting the first week mini challenge late because life got in the way due to being laid off but I am now getting back on track. Week 1 Mini Challenge: 1. Is your overall quest achievable (over a short or long period of time)? Is it reasonable? Yes my overall quest of loosing 110 lbs is definitely achievable and reasonable. It will take a good amount of time but I know I can do it. 2. Do your 3 quests all build towards your main quest in little ways, or are you taking on too much? Do your quests have sub-quests or is it just one thing to focus on? My swimming and body weight training most definitely build towards my main goal as do my 10 minute walks and no soda quests. 3. Are your main goals realistic? Can you scale them to smaller steps to fit your life better, even if it will make it take a little longer to achieve them? My main goals are totally realistic and I might be able to scale them back some but at this point I don't feel that they are too much to achieve. 4. Are your goals able to be measured and tracked? What will you use to track them? I track all of my goals on my post and because they are all just counting what I have done it is pretty easy to track them. 5. How are you grading your goals? Are they pass/fail (“every dayâ€, “not even once over the six weeksâ€)? Is there a reward for the effort, or are you only grading yourself on whether or not you “lose the weight†or “run the distanceâ€? My goal are being graded by letter grades based on how well I do at sticking with them on a weekly basis. 6. What is your plan for continuing/altering/grading those goals if you become ill or injured? If i become ill or injured then I will take a break from my more strenuous goals and focus on getting myself better so that I can resume them quickly. 7. Did you take into consideration any special occasions (Labour Day, Independence Day, birthdays, anniversaries, etc) that may occur during the challenge? What modifications do you need to build into your goals for those? Given my goals the holidays should be a non issue. I can workout around them and I wont have access to soda on the holidays anyways. 8. Do any of your main goals conflict with each other? Will one goal make it hard to do another? None of my goals conflict. Instead they all add upon one another. 9. Do you already have the time in your schedule to actually complete the goals you’ve set? If not, what are you planning to do to make time for them? I had the time before I lost my job and now I have even more time to complete my goals. 10. Are you trying to build multiple habits, or is all your energy focused on your main quest? I am trying to build healthy exercise habits and better eating habits. And there you have it. Week 2 Mini challenge: See bellow!!!
  8. Andy was jolted awake by the crash and jumped up to find herself faced with a sinking ship. 'Great' Andy thought attempting to assuage the fear growing in her heart. 'A fire dwarf paddling around in water. I'll never hear the end of this.' Fear of drowning had needled its way deep however. She was wearing her heavy armor and water was her bloodlines weakness. She knew she would have to jump soon or be drug down with the ship. She looks around for anyone else strong enough to aid her and sees the dim glow surrounding who she believes to be a paladin by the name of ChristArtist. She calls out in growing desperation. "Aye, I cannot swim in this armor and haven't the time to shed it. Do you posses the ability to aid me?!" Hello to all! I am brand new here and this is right up my alley so if it all right I'm going to jump right in! I'm a level 1 starting my first challenge and ill be placing some links in my signature soon so you can check that out and get a little bit more about me. As for my brave thing from last week: I was laid off at work. This was a great fear of mine and I was blindsided by it. Luckily I have an amazing partner so I am not on my own but it is very scary to be in this position. So far I have handled this setback without falling apart. I have applied for unemployment and I begin my official job search tomorrow.
  9. Checking in with the progress from last week. It was definitely bad week. I was able to do both of my body weight circuit workouts but I only got in the pool once for the full work out. As for the 10 minute walks I was able to do one. The soda quest has gone over way worse as I drank soda everyday last week. On top of that I was laid off at work on Thursday so I have found myself without a job. I missed an entire assignment last week as well. I feel as though I have been derail quite a bit. I am trying to buckle down and just get through all this but I am having a very hard time. I have lost two inches off my waist and my weight has gone down 1 lb. Grades for the 1st week: Body weight ciruts: A Swimming: C Walking: C Soda: F Class Assignments Late: 1
  10. I was able to complete the workout portion of my quest this week as my prep for the challenge. I'm super stoked on that. I haven't had any soda in two days so yay for tiny progress. And I'm fairly certain that I bit off more than I can chew for the 10 minute walk a day. I'm going to knock that back to 3 times a week so on days that I don't exercise I'll go for a ten minute walk. I'll edit that in my original post with measurements. I think I'm ready to start officially now! I will try to up date this twice a week so I can keep myself accountable on what I'm doing.
  11. Okay cool. For my parameters to start it will be no soda at all. For my consequence it will be 10 pushups per soda I drink.
  12. Hello! So I came over to check out this thread. Seems right up my ally. This I going to be my first challenge and I'm giving up soda as one of my quests. I'm a little worried as that is one of my weaknesses. But it's super important that I give it up. So how does this PvP work? I read the first posts and it looks like I need to pick a consequence for slipping up so I'm going to say that for every soda I drink I will do 5 push ups Is there anything that I'm missing?
  13. Awesome goals. My main quest is also loosing about 100 lbs and its really nice to see that there are some others in the same boat. Good luck!
  14. Okay so pre challenge update. I have been test driving my goals this week before the challenge officially starts and I am half way through my workout goals. However my 10 minute walk has been neglected and I have had soda this week. So I'm about 50/50 on it. Next week I've got to tighten down and make it all happen. Starting Stats: Weight: 238 lbs Inches: Neck: 15.5" Chest: 52.5" Waist: 48" Hips: 48" Upper Arm Left: 13.5" Upper Arm Right: 13.5" Lower Arm Left: 11" Lower Arm Right: 10.5" Thigh Left: 25.5" Thigh Right: 27" Calf Left: 17" Calf Right: 17.5" Alright, so there is my starting point and now I can't wait to begin and bring all those numbers down.
