  1. Hey Rebels! This is my first challenge and I'm super excited to get started! I found the Nerd Fitness site while looking for a new strength routine and I got sucked into all the articles and ideas that are posted here. All my life I've had a history of being heavier and pretty inactive. I lost quite a bit of weight during my senior year of high school, but gained it back during college. A couple years ago I joined Weight Watchers and lost almost 100 pounds. However, because of how their program works, I probably lost quite a bit of muscle along with the fat. Now, I'm working on getting fit and gaining the muscle back. I'm not really a fan of tracking pounds or measurements. I'd rather focus on what my body can do than what it looks like. With that said: Main Quest: Pass the FBI Physical Fitness Test This is something that has been on my mind for a couple years. I don't want to be in the FBI, I just want to be able to be as fit as a Special Agent. It's a tough assessment and it includes: Sit-ups in 1 minute 300m sprint Maximum push-ups 1.5 mile runI did an initial test today and here were my results: 11 sit-ups 66.88 sec 2 push-ups 11:29According to the scoring scale I get -2 points each for the sit-ups and push-ups, no points for the sprint, and 6 points for the 1.5 mile run. To work towards improving my score I will do the following: Quest 1: Do the Beginner Body Weight workout 3x a week A = 18, B >= 15, C >= 12, D >= 9 Quest 2: Do the following three runs each week: 30 to 40 minute tempo run Interval training 7+ mile long runA = 18, B >= 15, C >= 12, D >= 9 Quest 3: Eat Paleo 5x a week A = 30, B >= 24, C >= 18, D >= 12 Life Quest: Upgrade My Headquarters I'm just going to be straight up on this one. My apartment is a mess. There's stuff everywhere. I think at times more things are not put away than are in their proper place. I want to not only be comfortable in my space, but also feel like I can invite people over at the drop of a hat. Everyday I'm going to work on one space and never leave anything messier than it already is. My Motivation: Be the best version of you. I've attached a picture from a magazine that was given to me as a part of a group activity where we found images that reminded us of the others in the group. This one was given to me when I was at my heaviest (well over 200lbs). My friend said he chose it because I seemed like the type of person who would just tie her shoes and go for a run. I definitely wasn't then, but I sure as hell am now. This reminds me that there's a better version of yourself inside you that you can't recognize and to always work hard to bring that version out.
  2. I cook sweet potatoes a couple times a week and always use this spice mix on them. Not only is it delicious, it also makes them smell amazing as they are cooking. http://www.food.com/recipe/the-perfect-yam-sweet-potato-seasoning-spice-mix-414608
