  1. WOW... so much already - and I hardly know where to start! "Recruited by Assassins!" What every girl dreams of! Thank you so much, starsapart, I will definitely head over and check things out. I don't know if I'm as tough as you think, but I'm willing to try. Stealthsticher - The goal for tomorrow morning is to run over before I have to supervise production hours and complete the necessary paperwork to sync up my faculty workout plan with the health center so I can get into the pool this week. I did get out and get my walking down before it got dark - and I still have veg, milk, and fruit points left today! BlackBeltKitchenNinja - first off - awesome username! Also, thanks for the warm welcome - The currency comes in labelled 3X5 cards that are listed dairy/milk, veg, fruit, meat, grain - with serving recs. for stuff I eat a lot - for instance rice features prominently on the grain cards. There's also a "free card" that lists what consists of 1, 5, or 10 free points (I get 10 points a week- represented by pennies). Previously - when I did this with stealthstitcher - we would put the cards from the free envelope to the used envelope and then check on each other. Since it's just me - I have to not cheat - and so maybe I should find someone on campus or something to give them to... I like the physical cards instead of just an online chart - but I suppose I could do an app with some sort of accountability. Any ideas, anyone?
  2. And apparently, help you spell-check... as achieve is not spelled as above. Apologies to the grammarians out there. So here’s the thing, if adventures were up to me, we’d never get past the first chapter…I’m awesome at thinking up great ideas, but then I lose steam, momentum, and endurance – at least when it comes to anything regarding health. Getting through grad school when no one thought I could make it? Check. Moving all over the country for work – terrifying – and check. Walking away from the crippling Netflix addiction and ramen, not so much. The sad thing is – I actually have a pretty decent idea of what good nutrition is – thanks to my parents and a tropical up bringing with loads of veggies, fruits, and fish. I just… don’t do it. So my best friend mentioned she was getting up the courage and motivation to do something about her similar problem, and I was sitting around watching a Korean variety show called Running Man (in which, big surprise, much running and hijinks ensue) thinking – wow, it’d be nice to be that limber and active. Hmmm, and it’d be helpful to have enough energy to get through a full day in a theatre department with ridiculously energetic theatre majors who run circles around me – and I’m not that much older than they are. They say you’re supposed to be in your prime in your early 30’s and I am… not. Main Quest: Get in the sort of shape that would make me competitive enough to keep up with the gang on Running Man. (For those of you who are curious, Running Man is a …quest/variety show in which the contestants are given a series of physical/mental/endurance/social challenges in order to “win.†To quote Whose Line is it Anyways? “Everything’s made up and the points don’t matter.†This includes speed, strength, major stamina, flexibility, and the ability to look ridiculous and not care. Avoid boredom, resist inertia. Sub quests: Build Speed, Stamina, and strength: Swimming laps for 1 hour (or until I get cramps) OR Dance/Jumprope 1 hour OR workout video of choice 1 hour Grading (I will admit, UGH – my least favorite part of teaching). 3-4 days a week B. 3 Days a Week C. 2 Days a Week D. 1 Days a Week F. 0 Days a Week. Build endurance and flexibility: Walk/Jog at least 2 miles at least 6 days a week Yoga/stretching before and after 6 days a week B. 4 Days a Week C. 3 Days a Week D. 2 Days a Week F. 1-0 Days a Week. Get eating habits on track:Balanced "diet" based on the food pyramid (or whatever they're calling it now) for 2000 calories. Allow myself 1 day “off.†Aforementioned best friend, in a previous Stargate-themed workout scheme, made cards of the different food groups which one could use up like currency throughout the day – which was actually super handy – as official charts with counting calories gives me traumatic flashbacks to math class. 6 days a week or more, following regimen B. 4 Days a Week following regimen C. 3 Days a Week following regimen D. 2 Days a Week following regimen F. 1-0 Days a Week following regimen Life Side Quest: Continue to learn the guitar beyond chords to include tablature and traditional music, transposition. Perform in public. Motivation: So firstly in the spirit of comradery, but mostly because I simply MUST do something – I’m going to give it a shot. That, and I’m tired of not being able to wear fun things in my closet and known by colleagues as the “practical-dressing costume designer…code for “boring.â€
