  1. Hey there fellow Oregonian!  I'm in Scappoose - nice to meet ya.

    Bob

  2. I'm in Portland and would down in going on any of these adventures. I love to hike the trails, Gorge, and around Mount Hood. I'm down for anything in mid- to late-October. Welcome to the area mightstone2k.
  3. Hello fellow Rangers! BeaconLight here starting my second 6-week challenge and excited to join the Rangers guild. My last challenge I was basically getting back into workout habits, nutrition, and getting enough sleep. Basically getting the basics down. I thought I did pretty good (gave myself a B on that challenge) and look forward to stepping up my game and going to the next level. With that here is my details for this 6-week challenge: Main Quest: This quest I really want to work on my body composition. I'm currently 208 pounds at about 26.3% in body fat. I'm not too concern about about the weight because the lowest weight I have ever been was 185 pounds but this was when I was in my early 20s (I'm now 33). About 4 years ago I was doing heavy cross-training and lowest weight I got was 209 pounds with 15% body fat and this was the fittest I have ever been. I'm working towards getting back to the 15% body fat. I think the lowest percent of body fat I'm willing to go is 12%. I know I cannot get to 12-15% body fat in 6 weeks, but I would like to see it drop 3-5% for this challenge. Missions for the Main Quest: Mission #1 - Sign up and participate in semi-private or group training classes 2-3 times a week. Mission #2 - Make home cooked meals for a minimum of 4 days each week. (Batch cooking works well for this, BTW!) Mission #3 - Go on a 15-20 mile bike ride once a week. The above missions are to help me with my body composition and to start my training for the Reach the Beach bike ride that takes place on May 16, 2015. For those that don't know what Reach the Beach is, it is a 100 mile bike ride from Portland, Oregon to Pacific City, Oregon to raise support for the American Lung Association. Here is my personal page for Reach the Beach if you want more information. I have 4-1/2 months to train for this event and I figured I would incorporate it as part of my next 3 challenges. Life Quest: I just launched my new business - Living for Adventures. This business focuses on my passions for essential oils through Young Living, fitness, nutrition, faith, and adventure. Most of the website (www.livingforadventures.com) focuses my business in distributing Young Living Essential Oils, but I also have a blog on this website that focuses on all of my passions. My Life Quest for this challenge is two fold: (1) I must have 6 blog posts that are posted to my website by the end of the challenge (basically 1 blog post each week); and (2) get my first two wholesale members signed up to receive their starter kit. I enjoyed my first 6-week challenge and I'm looking forward to seeing how I have leveled up in 6 weeks! This is going to be a great time of adventure, challenges, and trying new things. I also looking forward to interacting with my fellow Rangers and seeing what mini-quest I might be able to do. Let the adventure begin!
  4. JustEve, I believe there is a two week break for the holidays and then I think the next challenge starts up early January. Be watching the forums. They will create a new challenge link soon for this. When loosing weight, it is best to breaking it down into smaller pieces. Some you'll work on now and others later, pending how you want to do it. To give you an example, this last challenge I really needed to focus on getting enough sleep, water intake, and start exercising again. I started small just to develop good habits again. My next challenge I'm going one step further in joining in some group training that will put me on a regular exercise program. This way I get regular exercise and start training again. I then will take up some challenges from the Rangers (the guild I'll be joining) to take things a step further. Just figure out what you want and then break them down into small steps. You can have a big goal (one you may or may not totally complete by the end of a challenge), but then break it down into smaller "missions" to work you toward the larger goal. I hope this is helpful in some fashion. We are all here to support you and so feel free to ask questions.
  5. I just finished my 1st challenge. Wasn't perfect but reasonable. My greatest accomplishment was completing my Life Quest! My Life Quest was to get Living for Adventures (my new business and blog) launched. Well, I finished this on the last day of the challenge! My missions for the main quest I would rate myself as a B because I did great on two missions (water consumption and sleep) but didn't do full workouts each week. I did do small stuff (walks and a couple trips to the gym) but not what I had hoped for this challenge. Overall, I think I did pretty good for my first challenge. Next step, join a guild. I think I'll be making my way over to the Rangers next. Maybe I'll see some of you there!
  6. Happy Monday! It is the last week of this challenge. Keep up the good work!
  7. I got a section done, but didn't finish the website liked I hoped. Then somehow I got sick Sunday night & it has totally wiped me out for the past two days. Hoping to get more done this week.
  8. It is a lot of work Chris-Tien Jinn. But the hard work now will pay off latter. The thing that is taking the longest is putting together my website (www.livingforadventures.com). I have a goal to have it up by the end of this weekend, but not sure if I will get all of it done in time. However, Saturday is wide open and so hope to spend a solid "work day" on it. To answer you question, I'm a independent distributor of Young Living's Essential Oils. What I like about them is the attention to the quality of their oils through their Seed to Seal process. I know that the oils I get and distribute are of the highest quality and when use properly have strong benefits. My website will have more information when I get it posted. Here is to a great weekend of hard work!
  9. I like the idea of "I'm a Hero" patches and t-shirts! I would get both if they were available.
  10. So after the first two weeks of the challenge, I wanted to review how my goals are coming along: Main Quest: I don't measure myself until 12/1/2014 and so won't know the progress until then. I'm fine with that because I would rather focus on my missions for this quest anyway. The missions are the things that are working me toward this overall goal. Missions: In terms of getting two workouts in each week has been tough. First week I did great, second week I only got one in. I was a little frusterated with this but I will work to get my two in this week. In regards to my water mission, I have been averaging about 64-80 oz. during the week but on the weekend I seam to only get about 32 oz because I don't have my water bottle right next to me. Lastly, in regards to sleep I have been averaging about 6-7 hours of sleep most days with two bad days where I only got about 5.5 hours of sleep due to staying up late being social. So, not too bad but could work on this more. Life Quest: So my business is starting to come together. This past weekend I finalized the name of my business (Living for Adventures), registered a domain name for the website, got my Facebook business page put together, Instagram feed going, and started working on the layout of my webpage. I will be working on my website more this week and hope to have it go live after Thanksgiving! So my life quest is coming along nicely and look forward to seeing where this business will take me. Overall, I think I'm heading in the right direction. There is still 4 more weeks and a lot of good things can happen in that time.
  11. Then I'll be waiting with guns blazing. No Zombie will take me. I'm a fighter, survior, and hero! I can do anything when I set my mind to it.
  12. One of my biggest takeaways from Camp? Hmm...I think it comes in two parts. Part 1: I can do anything when I put my mind to it. At Camp, it was being intentional in trying new ways of fitness and see what would work or not work for me. Since Camp, I have taken this mindset into my further fitness goals and in everyday life. I have looked into getting into CrossFit but sadly couldn't do it at this time due to finances. For now, I'll have to stick to my own workouts or those found in the NF Academy--great material there by the way. The way I have used this outside of fitness is that I'm working on getting my own business started called "Adventurous Living". This is new for me to put this together but I look forward to the results as it combines my passions in one website and personal blog (hopefully). Part 2: Setting up my Batcave. Steve's talk about setting up the Batcave to be successful and using our laziness to our advantage. Part of my Batcave is having my gym bag put together the night before so that I grab it on the way out the door and is sitting in my Jeep after work reminding me that I committed to going to the gym that day. I also tied my Human bandana (I survived the Humans vs. Zombie game at camp) to the bag as a reminder of my Nerd Fitness community who is behind me. Also, the way of I have used my laziness to my advantage is that I don't keep sugary snacks (I still enjoy them but now in moderation) in my apartment and so when I go to the frig for an afternoon snack, I only see my healthy meals and veggies for snacks. I cannot eat wrong when it is not even there. One other aspect to my Batcave is a fitness journal that contains progression pictures, stories, measurements, and other pictures going along with the information I'm writing about. Once last thing I have is what I call my wall of encouragement. There I have pictures, stickers, patches and the Nerd Fitness Oath to remind me to keep going. There is so many good things about Camp that it is just too much to write it all out. I look forward to going back next year! September 2015 cannot get here soon enough.
  13. Hello, I'm in SE Portland. I only know of two Nerd Fitness people in Portland and would like to know more us in the area. Because of Camp, I've gotten to know several people from all over but it always great to have local support.
