  1. The last week has been a total write off. Despite my best intentions the only thing I've managed to keep up with is my writing goal. I finished NaNoWriMo with a final word count of 21,352. I didn't make 50,000, but I'm happy with what I did manage to do. Thank goodness for little victories So today is my respawn point. I actually cooked a dinner that was more than just throwing something in the microwave. I'm going to go to bed before midnight tonight and tomorrow I'm going for a run, despite (or maybe to spite) the weather. Wish me luck. You have my permission to kick my ass if I don't report back tomorrow.
  2. Hi Everyone. So, I'm new to nerd fitness and everything, so I hope I'm doing this right. The link to me challenge thread My Zombie Link Last summer I was zombie running every day and it was amazing. Then winter happened and I lost momentum, so I decided to start all over from the begininng. Its been more misses than hits, but I'm getting there. Tomorrow I'm going to go on my first run since May. Wish me luck. You have my permission to kick my butt if I don't come back here and tell you how it went
  3. Thanks Zombie Running is great. Finding that app was great.
  4. Its going, not great at the moment, but it'll start getting better. Caught a cold that knocked me on my ass. So its baby steps and being kind to myself for now.
  5. I haven't tried it, but I will check it out
  6. Sometimes the universe has a really twisted sense of humor. I post here, I'm all excited, I get one just dance session done and then I get hit with a wicked ass cold. I miss 3 days of work, can't breathe and have no energy to do anything. Doctor says its just a cold, and I have to wait it out. A week later and I'm still waiting it out. I'm starting to see the light at the end of this tunnel, I went for a short walk yesterday and wasn't totally exhausted after. On the up side, my cigarette comsuption is way down. It's hard to smoke when you can't breathe and you're coughing your lungs out. And I have been eating alot of fresh fruit, mmm grapefruit Its just baby steps right now, but it's something.
  7. Hi I'm Kimber-Leigh and this is my first challenge here. I found Nerd Fitness last year, but until now I haven't been ready to commit. Not sure what changed my mind, I suspect it was a few things. The biggest was my grandmother passing away a couple of months ago. It put a whole bunch of stuff in persepctive for me. So, here I am. My Main Quest - Start to build healthy habits. Quest One - Stop smoking. Right now I have, on average 5 cigarettes a day, more if I'm stressed or drinking. My goal is to quit by the end of the year. I've tried the cold turkey thing before and it never took. So this time, I'm going to start cutting down slowly, keeping track of how much I smoke in a day. I need one of those machines they have in Fifth Element. "To quit is my goal" Quest Two - Take charge of managing my health. I am diabetic and deal with depression/anxiety. I'm not very good at managing either right now. I take my pills and thats about it. I need to start testing my sugars every day again, and therapy is a must. Quest the Third - Move my body, at least 3 or 4 times a week. Just Dance, Zombie Running, yoga. It doesn't matter what I do, so long as I do something. The hotel I work at has a pool and a weight room, and I can use both, so really I have no excuse. Life Quest - Write 1,000 words a day. I've wanted to be a writer since I was old enough to read. And like most things, it sort of fell by the wayside as I got older. Time to change this. Motivation - I don't want to wake up in 20 years and realize my life has passed me by.
