  1. Wow, Bekah it sounds like you've got it all going on right now. Relationships are tough and communication with anyone is even tougher. I find it tough to open up and share what's going on in my head sometimes with my partner. Now, I write a short blog post most days sharing my random thoughts about family and relationships, which I write to my partner and she subscribes to the blog to read it. I don't care who else sees the blog and if they do, I hope it helps, but I just love sharing it with H. I think you're doing the right thing by concentrating on making you happy first, because if you're not happy on your own then you'll never be happy with someone. Keep your chin up and keep on planking
  2. ***DING*** That's right I levelled up to the 2 minute plank! That's 120 seconds, which is 12 seconds up on last week! I've been planking daily (Bekah do you see a pattern here) and focussing on my breathing, adding one deep breath each day similar to Steve's 60 day PLP challenge. Bekah well done for keeping up the good work I'm sure you'll start getting closer to the minute mark once you're feeling 100% Yes planks are hard and Spartan planks are even harder, but that's why we love them
  3. Clearly I didn't proof read my post and I forgot to write over this section I copied from week 1. Well week 2 was a lot more productive, although I did miss a couple of workouts due to fatigue. Clearly there are no rest days, some days with less than 6 hours sleep, plus the additional workload of cycling to work and playing basketball. Still the micro workouts are only 10 mins long so they shouldn't be an issue. What do you think?
  4. Battle Log: Week 2 I was late to this challenge and started midweek as well, but hey, I still started. I faced an early hurdle with a weekend celebration for my mother in-law's 60th birthday, which saw me dressed up as a giant elf, but here's how I'm getting on so far: Main Quest: To reach a weight of 200 lbs and maintain it for 6 months217 lbs - Yay I lost 1 lb Missions: Do 5 Sun Salutations daily6/7 days / Grade B (86%) - I'm starting to feel it in my shoulders now holding downward dog each nightDo a micro workout daily - calisthenics or kettle bells5/7 days / Grade B (71%)Mon - Narrow, standard, wide press ups 30, 7Tues - 12 KG kettle bell squats 12 x 8Wed - missed (played basketball)Thurs - standing chin ups 5, 4, 3, 2, 1Fri - missedSat - Standard, inside, outside climbers 30 x 4Sun - side planks 10 x 8 (played basketball)Get at least 6 hours sleep daily5/7 days / Grade B (71%)Life Quest: To shoot 500 free-throws by the end of the challenge113/150 (75%) / Grade A (134%) - I'm really pleased with how this went this week and was able to make up lost ground from last week
  5. Welcome to the challenge Zendikara Bekah although the flogging may sound like fun, I'd rather see you start the challenge right
  6. Thanks Bekah, you're the greatest! I decided to join the Nerd Fitness forums to challenge myself, find support and meet people just like you
  7. This is awesome! Thanks Bekah this is just the push I needed to get this done. In fact I just dropped and did a plank for 108 seconds. What's your starting time?
  8. Using my own name is an interesting concept, I might have to try it, but I need to write another 140 approved posts first. I love the idea of the PvP challenges, but I don't mind going 1 on 1 or taking on all comers. The Chaturanga pose is really a tougher version of a low plank, maybe we could make that the challenge - a Spartan Chaturanga!
  9. Bekah maybe a Spartan plank can be apart of our next challenge? Bucket Lists have been a big part of my life for the past few years, but now I see them more as a distraction. I should have given more thought to my name! I think I'm going to change it to Simply Paul in future.

  11. Happy Nerd-Day or am I too late All of my goals this challenge are daily, which makes it tough to complete. I've already had MISS days like you, but things happen and life takes over. My view is try not to make it 2 MISS days in a row and by the end of the challenge you'll still be in a great position.
  12. Hi Bekah, I'm glad you like what you see I've never been superficial and worried about looks, but now my body isn't functioning the way I would like it too either and I need to get it sorted. One of the things on my bucket list is to hold a Spartan plank (300 seconds), but as you don't like Chatarunga Dandasana I guess you won't be joining me for this one either What's on your bucket list?
  13. Thanks Lita, I'm glad I'm moving in the right direction, because I'm tired of going backwards
  14. Hi Solstice, Me and my youngest love the Avengers movie and to be fair any of the super hero movies. My daughter would love for me to train to be as strong as the Hulk, but personally I'd rather go for a Captain America vibe. I've included strength training in my first challenge, but I've gone for a single daily strength exercise (e.g Mon - press ups, Tues - squats, Wed - pull ups, etc.) Seems like you're doing well so far Paul
  15. Hi Drex, I've just started my first adventure / challenge. Like you I'm a family man trying to get in shape and stay strong for my family. Good luck Paul
  16. Hi Lita, It sounds like you're doing a good job with your challenge so far. One of my missions for this 6 week challenge is to do 5 sun salutations a day because holding the downward dog pose really stretches out my tight hamstrings and calves, plus in the long run I hope to build up a daily Ashtanga practice. Keep up the good work Paul
  17. What does a Level 0 Human Adventurer look like? I can't believe this is the state I've let my body get in to! Every journey starts somewhere and mine is starting at 218 lbs, which is the heaviest I've ever been. In the last 10 years I was 189 lbs at my fittest, but at 6'1" I'd be happy to get back to a strong 200 lbs and maintain it. My current missions aren't going to help me lose 18 lbs quick-sharp, but they will help me form the habits I need to maintain and develop the balanced all round fitness I desire. My daily micro-workouts will consist of a mobility warm-up, skipping, 1 exercise (kettle bell Tabata or 3 - 5 sets of calisthenics) followed by a stretch. I'm on the slow path to success, but it's better than the fast path to failure.
  18. Hi, I'm Paul Mostowyj. It's pronounced Most-o-vee, but you can call me Paul. By day I'm a manager and a coach; by night I'm a sportsman and an adventurer, but at the heart of it all I'm a family man. A long time ago (in a galaxy far away) I was the sportsman and the adventurer I claim to be. I found success on the basketball court, I stood behind waterfalls, I ran in Olympic stadiums, I walked the streets of Jack the Ripper, I ran a marathon - I stopped. I'm tired of just being a manager and a coach. I want to be the sportsman and the adventurer again. I want to be the family man my children can be proud of. Before I try to climb Mount Everest, cycle around the world or swim the English Channel, I need to build a good base level of fitness first. I need strong healthy habits that will keep me fit as a fiddle for the rest of my life to enjoy my time with my kids and one day grandchildren. Main Quest: To reach a weight of 200 lbs and maintain it for 6 months Missions: Do 5 Sun Salutations daily Do a micro workout daily - callisthenics or kettle bells Get at least 6 hours sleep daily Life Quest: To shoot 500 free-throws by the end of the challenge
