  1. A year ago I lost 35 lbs. I kept it off until recently when I gained back 10 of those pounds. Sigh. I need to loose the weight for a variety of health reasons. Another reason is that in September I am attending Dragon Con and I want to lose the weight so that I can fit into my Red Sonya cosplay outfit that I'm working on. So, I'm back to try this again.
  2. I've gotten a bit farther. I was able to get out yesterday and get in almost 2 miles. I was hoping to go out again tonight, but it looks like rain. Dang. I may have to rethink this challenge and save the 120 miles for the spring when i can walk to work.
  3. Terrible. I'm only at a mile and a half. I have a writing deadline this Friday, so I've been chained to my phone and computer. Next week will be better.
  4. LOL. My whippet has the same scream. The other day, it was cold and snowy. He touched the snow and went into melt down mode. He was screaming so loud I was afraid the neighbors would call the cops thinking I was beating him or something. I ended up carrying him back inside because he refused to walk.
  5. Six weeks seems like such a long time for me to focus, but I'm going to try. I am triply cursed when it comes to exercise. I sit all day at my day job in a law office and then sit at my other job as a writer. When I'm not frying my brain doing those two things I completely lose all track of time bing watching TV or playing WOW. My 1st challenge is based on the 1st book of a trilogy that I'm currently working on. The book involves a quest of sorts that requires the main characters walk 120 miles or so from their home city of New Athens to the capital city of Galt to deliver a package. I've created a map of the route with distances between each of the towns they pass through. Overall Goal - Walk 120 miles (<3 miles a day) The plan is to walk until I get to a town. The next day will be a strength training day (still working on the routine). Then I'll continue on to the next town. If by some weird miracle I get the full 120 miles in before the end of the six weeks, I'll just turn around and start back.
  6. KFC Famous Bowl, chocolate chip cookie & Dt. Pepsi about 3 1/2 hours ago. (I'm a work in progress.)
  7. These are my two bed hogs. Chester is a whippet and Saedie is a Chaweenie. They are completely backwards dogs. Chester, the one built to run, would rather stay at home and sleep. Saedie who has 4" long legs loves to come running with me and she thinks yoga is the perfect time to give me kisses.
  8. You've got a fridge and microwave...you should be good. I don't live in a motel, but I almost exclusively use my microwave (because I'm lazy). Almost anything can be made in the microwave. I haven't figured out how to make toast in the microwave...yet. Veggies are quick and easy. Usually take 4-6 minutes. You can get steamer bags to cook veggies in or go with a glass dish (glass works better for longer cooking times and doesn't leach nasty toxins into your otherwise healthy food). Sweet potatoes are my new favorite microwave food. Poke the skin & pop them in for 6 min. Yum. Meat is better reheated in the microwave. Cooking from raw will work but it doesn't turn out very well (unless you like blood jelly...ick). Eggs and egg dishes take a minute or two in the microwave. Make sure to break the yokes before cooking otherwise bad things happen...trust me on this. There's always salads and raw veggies, cheese, tuna, nuts, etc. http://greatist.com/health/surprising-healthy-microwave-recipes
