  1. All the best on your challenge! I'm starting mine around the same time as yours so I'll be looking forward to seeing how you get along. Seems like you're off to a good start!
  2. If I count yesterday as my first day I'd have to say it went alright. I did well on the food. Papaya for breakfast, big vegetable salad with chicken and feta and a small wheat roll, more chicken and vegetables for dinner. I also had like 6 bites of cake at lunch and few after dinner. My birthday was a few days ago and I got a cake and TONS of cupcakes sent to me. I shared and gave away as much as I could but I still have like three quarters of a cake in my refridgerator. It was a long distance gift from my family so I can't bring myself to throw it away. And besides, its my birthday cake so I'm not going to cry about it. I still think I managed 80% clean for the day. And I got my 2000 ml of water. The running, lifting and mobility didn't happen yesterday. As long as I make sure I do them tonight I'll be in better shape on that. I'm traveling out of town this weekend and I doubt I'll get any workouts in so I'm planning in advance to be a day or two behind on Monday. Maybe I'll squeeze something in. So far today the clean eating is on track. An apple before I left the house, green tea and oatmeal with honey when I got to work, more veg salad with chicken for lunch. Its going to be veg salad with chicken for dinner too - its a lot, I know. But I cooked all this chicken and cut up all these vegetables and I'm about to leave town for 3 days so I need to pack them all in. Next week I'll aim for more variety. Oh, and, a colleague of mine just opened a froyo shop and gave me a pass to her soft opening. So yeah, I'll be doing that tonight. I think I can still claim a decent eating day if I keep my cool tonight. 75% on my way toward my water goal and it's only 3:00 PM so I'll have no problem finishing that.
  3. I'm really inspired by your motivation. i think doing something like this for your future family is really respectable, and something i've been considering myself so I can relate. Anyhow, I saw that there were a few late comers to this challenge so I thought I'd say hi and good luck as we might be on a similar path. All the best on accomplishing your goals, especially in these first few weeks! I'll check in now and then to see how yours are going.
  4. I'm the type of person who plans and plans and plans and really struggles to get around to executing and following through. I'm joining this challenge because I want to commit myself to actually doing something and seeing it through. Over the past several months I've taken baby steps toward my health fitness goals - I've thought all about it, researched it, written personal plans for it, *started* lots of programs - and I have had successes and setbacks. This time I'm excited to see where 6 weeks of proper dedication can take me! My main quest is a more general one: to progress on 3 aspects of my health/fitness journey that I am currently focusing on - running, strength training, and clean eating. My related goals are: 1. Complete my C25K training program by 5 January. I'm currently on week 5 (and have been for several weeks now). After that, I want to go into the 10K training program starting from week 9 and build up my speed and endurance. 2. 3 days per week of either weight training (a full body routine consisting of squats, lunges, deadlifts, lat pulldowns, chest press, overhead press with progressively heavy loads) or bodyweight circuit training (I like Max Capacity Training) because I know there will be days I won't be able to lift. I will add to this that I want to work on certain mobility exercises to improve my form - particularly ankle/hip mobility for squats and deadlifts because I wear high heels and sit on my butt in front of a computer most of the day and I know my form could use some work - I'll also do this 3 days/week. 3. 80% clean eating in a week plus drink at least 2000 ml of water per day. To me, clean eating is lots of vegetables, fish, chicken, beef, beans, some fruit, oatmeal, limited processed carbs and sugar. My life quest... I've been thinking about starting to write a lot lately. I've always liked to write for both personal and professional reasons. I don't do much of it lately but I'd like to start taking it more seriously. I'd like to start with journaling daily and consider opportunities to write professionally.
