  1. How far into the series are you? Once you get past the first 2 books you're pretty much invested in the characters enough to overlook King's style. (Eddie Dean is my hero...as much as I love Roland, Eddie will always be my favorite). But if you're on like the 4th book and still aren't really feeling it, maybe the series just isn't for you? Personally I love Steven King and The Stand and the Dark Tower series are my favorites from him. But I also tried to be true to my nerdiness and read the Lord of the Rings as well because every bookworm I've ever known has read it. I made it through the Hobbit, half through the Fellowship of the Ring and then said screw it and saw the movies lol. Good luck with the Dark Tower! I hope you stick with it and enjoy it!
  2. Just finished Revival by Stephen King (weird but good) the latest Kathy Reichs' book and am rereading Howl's Moving Castle
  3. So I've decided that I don't like this whole waiting a week before I update my thread thing - that's dumb. So I'm just gonna update it whenever I feel like! (but AT LEAST once a week). This week I feel like I did GREAT food wise. I cooked on sunday and bought a bunch of mason jars. So from Monday - Wednesday i had a sweet potato, chicken, pepper and spinach salad topped with sour cream (and let me tell you - it was freaking DELICIOUS!) I also threw spinach, basil, feta cheese sausage and eggs in my ninja blender and dumped that mixture in a mason jar as well for breakfast (microwaves = wonderful things) on Monday and today. I also did bad with food - crockpot thrusday was taco thursday - so while there was a lot of ground beef, there was also a LOT of cheese (i really really like cheese). I also had Moe's Monday night and today, margarita's because tequila is my favorite, and munched on some cookies - but baby steps right? This week was lacking in exercise though. I wanted to go to a kickboxing class Tuesday but I had a meeting with an Australian client at the same time as the class - plus it was freaking SNOWING all week this week! (and if it wasn't snow it was very cold rain) so I wasn't really running either. I did to a body weight exercise routine Monday and today though! I also did pretty well on my life goal of being creative! I made myself a new blog JUST to showcase my art ( https://artdamnit.wordpress.com/ ) and I am currently working on registering my domain name so that i can REALLY make myself a nice website. I am also SUPER stoked for tomorrow - Not only do i get to see all of my best friends from college i get to see PANIC! AT THE DISCO!! My inner 16 year old child is sooooo happy!

[emoji7] Some of my fav fantasy novels include: The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley The Dark Tower series by Stephen King American Gods by Neil Gaiman (the sandman series is also excellent if you like graphic novels) His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman The Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander The Dark is Rising series by Susan Cooper
  8. So I started a long lovely reply and then lost everything to my computer being silly. Sigh - Lets try this again. First off - Thanks so much for helping out a newbie with all this great advice! I actually did a squat using the couch as a guide and I felt it everywhere you're supposed to feel it and didn't just go "Holy crap Batman! My knees hurt!" Squatting and eating better and all that jazz is still pretty new for me - I'm looking forward to the next 6 week challenge to really get myself in gear but I was doing the basic workout to hold myself over. I'm impressed that guy did a squat for five minutes! Not only for the strength but for the sheer focus! If I ever got to 5 min squats I would have to have a book on the floor to read hahahah. Thanks again for all the help! I now have a great starting point for testing a research!
  9. I am so happy that I just stumbled upon this thread! So happy! Currently I'm working my way through The Mists of Avalon (again) and I'll probably be reading The Stand to my husband on our drive down to our honeymoon in a few weeks - and then I have a week of leisure and reading to look forward to with all these lovely lists I am a HUGE Harry Potter nerd!! I also really love Stephen King! But pretty much if it has words I'll read it. I used to work in a used Bookstore and boy oh boy - that was def one of my favorite jobs ever!
  10. 1. Ugh - maybe? 2. Yes 3. Not very - i'm one of those ppl who actually have a very hard time squatting and keeping my feet flat - i always want to get up on my toes lol
  11. I hate squats - I really do. I'm also very new to this and so am still learning. My issue with squats is that it really hurts my knees after a while. I'm pretty sure that my form is ok (feet a little wider than shoulder width apart, toes turned slightly out because that's how I naturally stand) but I am not sure how to correct it, or even tell if it's awful. Any tips? Thanks!
  12. Wow you all know how to make a girl feel welcome!! Thanks for all the lovely replies! @Strickland5 - Krampus is great isn't he? And Hubby def likes the idea of all the meat @Bookworm_Tess - love the name! And yeah good point on muscle being heavy, I pretty much want to be healthy and figuring out numbers is hard @BlackTezca - that's such a great pic!
  13. Hey All! I am the new kid here! One of my co-workers introduced me to this site and I've been hooked since! My thighs are still burning from my 2nd day of the Beginner's Workout and I am slowly convincing my husband that we can both use a diet change! I'm starting at 166 at 5'5" and my goal is to get down to 135 again - or at least looking like I'm 135 or less (whoa that is one weird looking wink face). Nerd Stats love harry potter breathe mythology wish i was batman am amused by Krampus would love a date with King Arthur web designer by trade
