  1. Hmmm. So far so good. I've hit my water goals every day. If we're talking average number of steps it's closer to 10,000 than 5,000 which is fantastic. The weight is coming off so slowly and I think it's partially me being inconsistent with food. Shark week is over now and I'm going to be home for nearly 3 weeks in a row (record!) and am pretty excited to rock it out, stay consistent, and see what happens. I did pretty well on my trip. I ate reasonably. I got almost 15,000 steps in one day when I went for a walk on the beach. When I got back the scale didn't have that water weight inflation of 4-5 pounds which was a nice change of pace. For the next 7 days my goals are: -10,000 steps a day -100 oz of water per day -3 strength workouts (bodyweight/dumbbells) -log food in lose it app I'm going to the doctor on Thursday and having an IUD inserted (eek!!). While I'm pretty thrilled about the long term impacts, in the short term I'm a little nervous. The biggest immediate side effects are cramping and spotting. I'm pretty sure I will be able to continue with my walking plan. In general walking helps with cramps for me so it should be fine.
  2. 1. Not terribly into laser tag but would attend anyways pending I'm not dying from medical procedure I'm having 1/29 2. Definite yes on food 3. Not picky. Prefer to eat paleoish but if we fall into a vat of lobster mac and cheese I will survive 4. I live in Cap Hill so near downtown is awesome but I can drive too. Very excited! Sorry it took me forever to respond.
  3. Killed it today. Will probably hit 15,000 steps before bed. I hit my calorie difference target (-1000). I've guzzled water. I did a body weight workout. I feel alive and happy

My apt is tiny so cleaning is less of a major step boost at home. When I visited a friend it definitely helped. If I leave my house every day and do about 60-90 mins of walking (dog, treadmill, whatever) I can make it to 10,000. Staying home all day makes it all but impossible unless I want to go on a 2 hr walk. To everyone on the zombie run app, does it work for walking? I have The Walk or whatever which is fun.
  5. Ok...so I leave for a trip on Wednesday morning. Quick list of daily goals through then. - 100 oz of water - 10,000 steps per day - 20-40 min gym or home workout each day - log food in Lose It app
  6. This. So much of this. I think one of the trickiest things is finding the balance and not falling back into that completely horrible relationship I had with food and my body for almost 5 years. Things that work for me: Focusing on the exercise. I know this is not the advice from most people but exercising a healthy amount makes it easier for me to eat better without the obsession.Eating real food. If I eat real food (not processed junk) and have at least 1-2 servings of veggies per meal, the rest works itself out.Keeping a food log vs counting calories. (I'm better at this in theory than real life but if I feel myself getting obsessed with calories or grams of something, I just stop and write down my food).Weighing myself daily. Again, not popular advice but I just want to know where I am and have that reassurance that I didn't gain 500 pounds over night.

Errr....so when I got my fitbit I was definitely only walking 2500-3500 steps a day. Such an eye opener. Can I borrow someone's kid to chase around all day? My dog just sleeps. I have to drag him out for walks
  8. I think the water might be paying off finally. Despite the fact that it's that time of the month, my skin is pretty clear. I've been doing awesome on the water. 100% compliance. I've been doing less awesome on the steps. I spent 5 days taking care of a friend who just had surgery. That mostly involved hanging out with her on the couch. I'm working on making up some lost steps this weekend while I'm home. Scale also seems to be not moving. Just the same as when I started. I have a feeling that once my period is gone I'll magically be down 3 pounds, but I'd like to pick up the pace a little bit. I'm going to focus on being more active. I'm 150% aware that diet has considerably more to do with weight loss than exercise so please spare the helpful tip there. Personally, focusing on being more active and sticking to a regular (moderately difficult) exercise routine helps me to clean up my diet without it becoming some sort of all consuming focus. Because really my long term goal is not to be a crazy obsessed calorie counter. My goal is to have a healthy diet without all the fuss and an active lifestyle that allows me to eat more than 1600 calories a day to maintain my weight.
  9. Quick update: -I've been nailing the water every day. I"m waiting for my skin to look magically better but I'll take what I can get. -I've hit the step goal every day but today. I spent several hours in the spa which kind of killed me. The two previous days I was 12000-15000 so I don't feel too terrible. At 11:40pm I realized I was only at 3000 and hustled to get to 4500. I did want to be perfect but I'm not going to go crazy about it. -I"m on the road so I'm not sure where we're at on the weight loss. I'll still be traveling through Friday but staying at a friend's house so I'm going to do my best to behave myself with the food and keep active between episodes of gilmore girls I've been looking at pictures of myself when I was thinner. I'm feeling extra motivated to get back to that place.
  10. I'd go (provided I'm not out of town for work!)
  11. Lots of steps & h2o today. It was so gorgeous out. I'll give food an A. Except the margarita I had. So maybe A- I managed to have a small, protein packed lunch at a mexican restaurant and only ate 7 chips. Enough to feel like I had chips and salsa. Not an entire bowl meant to be shared by 4 people. Success.
  12. Thanks for stopping by. I'm pretty good at getting 7-8 hrs of sleep lately. The problem is that my sleep schedule gets out of sync with "normal people" and that's tricky. My goal is to be in bed by midnight and up before 9am. Some days I'm better than others. Today I went on a walk around my neighborhood. So pretty. I'm well over my step count and it's only 3:30. I love the nice weather. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Following for fitbit flex, paleo eating, and language learning. I did a Whole 30 a couple of years ago. Solid goals
  14. Day 1: 5000 steps? YES 100 oz of water? YES weight loss? err it's the first day, give me a break My food intake was pretty good. I'd say B. I should totally go to sleep now but I'm addicted to fitbit forums. SIgh. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
