  1. Finally got to the gym today, but not without complications. The complication was my new walking shoes. These shoes are recommended by dr's for the type of feet I have but they give me nothing but grief when I wear them. The first few times I thought maybe they just needed to be broken in, but today, I am 45 minutes into my walk and I start feeling a blister developing on my heel. To hell with that! So I cut my walk a little short and did a few isolation exercises to make up for it. Walk: 45 mins Leg Extensions: 3 x 10 x 30 Rotary Calf: 3 x 20 x 30 Hip Abduction: 3 x 10 x 50 tbh, it was kinda a weird relief that the blister came on because I'm getting sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo bored of walking on the track. I don't mind walking at the park with my dog. At all. But that track is like torture. Just round and round and round. Music doesn't even help. I get so bored I even call my mom! No offense to mom, love her to pieces, but you know what I mean?! Daily calories: Met Fitbit: 10K + steps
  2. It is a plastic piece of magnet? I'm going to try a few things first before I see if I can order a new key!
  3. Ok, deep breath ... Yes, the scale is going to go up when you start putting on muscle. Your body is going to retain more fluid as the muscles tear, repair, and adapt. It can be anywhere from 2-6 lbs depending upon how prone you are to inflammation. I totally get the frustration! It always happens to me and I'm one of those people who puts on 5lb every time I start a new exercise program. If you're new to lifting, you'll also have "newbie gains." You will put on muscle faster than a person who has been at it for a while.Enjoy this part! Because it gets a lot harder to put on muscle after the first year. Keep at it and you will start to see the changes in the mirror. Then the scale won't matter!
  4. I had an off day too yesterday, but it sounds like you rebounded quite well. You didn't listen to the junk-food voice! Haha, I have that voice too. It lies!!!! Hope it's a better day for both of us!
  5. Okay guys and gals, yesterday was an off day for me ... I fully planned on going to the gym to walk around the track for an hour. I had a work related thing an hour away and I was going to go to the gym before I had to leave. Then at about 11a.m. I started feeling very sleepy. I told myself I would take an hour nap and go to the gym. Two and a half hours later I woke up and realized I only had 30 minutes to get ready and do the drive. Then I planned on going to the gym on the way home at about 7PM. But it was raining, very cold, and they were calling for icy roads. Then I figured I could just use the treadmill at home. I get it out, get it ready, and the "key" is missing. I may have accidentally thrown it away during the entire painting fiasco last week. In fact, I'm pretty sure that is what I did. So, no walking yesterday. However, I stayed on track with my diet and within the calorie limit. I also did my stretches.
  6. The ability to sell digital downloads is a huge bonus, I agree!
  7. Wow, 35 lb! Congrats!!!! That is awesome. Yeah, the progress pics are important to me for motivation and staying accountable. It's another walking day for me so I am really trying to slow down, but it's hard! Hope you have an awesome day!
  8. Very cool you will be coaching volleyball! That sounds like good fun and exercise!
  9. Good on you for meditating! I really need to do something like that (maybe the next challenge). Putting yourself out there can be tough, especially if you're not naturally sociable. I like Lady S' idea about saying yes immediately and evaluating it later. Just saying yes gets you over a really big hump! Hugs and support!
  10. Measurements can really help especially if you exercise! Good job so far!
  11. Great job so far! 6 days of exercise is awesome and congrats on the 1.7 lb loss!
  12. Met all my goals today! Walked 58 minutes. Did my stretches. Here's my diet ... Here's my Fitbit stats: Good day!
  13. copied from 6-week challenge Okay, so this morning I had to go to my first Physical Therapy session. The PT said I have winged scapula, whatever that means. Then she hooked me up to a tens machine, which is where you put these electrodes on your back and they send electrical currents to your muscles. I liked that. It was nice, even if a bit weird. Then she showed me four different stretches that I need to do twice a day. I.WILL.DO.THE.STRETCHES. I have to make sure to do them! Yes, they are boring and seem pointless and tedious, but I am not a PT and everything I have tried so far has failed. I will be logging these stretches to stay accountable. So then I come home and get on the net and look up these TENS units. You can actually buy them! I had enough points on my charge card to get one for free! So I did! This is it! In two business days, I will be looking like this chick, only not as skinny or young ... and the electrodes will be on my neck and back! Today I walked for 58 minutes. I am not going to try lifting again until Wed or Thurs. I want to let my back calm down. Over the weekend, I did absolutely nothing, kinda like what I was doing before I decided enough was enough. Anyway, my average steps were about 5,000. I think I have been doing too much and that's why my back is fighting me. I went from 5,000 steps a day to over 10K, lifting weights, painting my house, and running around like a crazy person. So, I need tone it down a bit and work up even slower. Diet and Fitbit later ...
  14. Congrats on the weight loss ! Woot! Haven't gotten to everyone's journal yet but I am working on it. Go team, go!!!
  15. Good job today! I like red peppers ... hate green ones but love the sweeter ones. I actually ate some veggies today! Maybe you've inspired me, lol. I had fresh green beans with a bit of garlic --yummmm I think this is my new fav food! And a few brussel sprouts which were just okay. Congrats on the no carbs after lunch. Not sure I could pull that off at all.

  17. Exactly. I'm sure there will be some stops and starts along the way, but this is the safest route possible. Hope you had a great day! I'll check in! Hey, appreciate that! Yeah, feel like I stopped it before it got too bad, but I'm going to take it easy for a few days and slowly work back up!

  19. Hey, thanks! If I had my way, I would only do strength training! Unfortunately, it's just not plausible physically with my back/neck issues. So, I gotta walk ... I may have to try a larger window with IF. 4 hours was definitely too small. Yeah, I have a blog for fun photo stuff! Checked out yours and very nice work! I especially like your landscapes and the sports photos--awesome! How do you like Smugmug? I tried it once as a website but it was super hard (for me) to customize. I use Zenfolio for work related photography. Nice to find a fellow photographer! I'm a Nikon girl. But I use my phone a lot for pics on here. It's just easier. Oh thank you! I love my puppy! She wants for nothing. I like how interactive the Fitbit is! You can even add friends and do daily competitions. It has definitely helped me walk up the stairs a few extra times during the day and keep my house a bit tidier, lol!! Well composed and candids are an art too!
  20. Hey LB! Good going on those planks! We made it to week 2! Yay! Shopping is my favorite form of cardio, lol. Hope your week is off to a great start!
  21. Yay for SCA, but Holy Ouch! It can definitely be seen. Maybe paleo isn't the right diet for you. Perhaps you could try just setting a calorie limit and eating whatever you want up to that limit. That's what I do, and I find it a lot easier in the beginning. Later on, when I've gotten used to it, I will tweak it more to achieve my goals, but just staying under the limit is a challenge in itself in the beginning.
  22. Okay, so no wild dogs where I live ... BUT I have seen coyotes! They like to get in my trash! My weight can fluctuate a whole lot too. If you are prone to any type of inflammation, do not trust the scale! You're doing great so far!!
  23. In general I hate veggies, so I may have to try the purple cauli. Good job so far!
  24. Cool idea to make an album for the food log! You're doing great so far!
