  1. I had a really nice weekend. Peter and Cory are a little older now (12 and 10) and can really appreciate more complicated and longer games. We played pandemic and dominion. It was really fun. The heat did get to me though. It was 30 C here. Which is extremely hot for the Netherlands. I actually got sick from it and unfortunately Cory (10) too. Then I remembered I had electrolytes on hand and that made us both feel so much better. This afternoon we'll go to Cory's school and hear which school he'll probably go to once he finishes primary school in a year. In the Netherlands, when kids are about 12, they go to different level schools. That way kids who need it get more guidance, and kids who can handle it get more complicated lessons. He's hoping to go to the VWO (highest level of education) like his big brother, but we'll see. The most important thing is that he'll get the education.
  2. The 13 hour fasts continue without problems. I had some cravings in the evening yesterday, but nothing serious. Ringfit was fun. I got an hour in again. Something about punching monsters with exercises is really rewarding.
  3. Nice to see you again! I'll let you know! I really hope this is something my body will like. Thanks!
  4. A first little update for this week: Nutrition. I'm in day 20-28 of my cycle. So 13 hour fasts this week. It has been easier than I remembered. No hunger or anything. Fitness: Zumba on Monday was fun! The teacher brought her daughter with her. She is 3 years old and tried to dance with us. It was adorable. Enrichment: I haven't been reading consistently. But I have read the "fast like a girl" in 2 hours one afternoon. That counts, right?
  5. Hi friends! It's been soooo long. I started a challenge in the beginning of the year and I stopped again. For some reason I couldn't follow through. But I'm back again. I missed you guys. I have been keeping up with fitness and nutrition (with varying success), but a little accountability couldn't hurt 😅 So without further ado, here are my goals for this challenge: Nutrition I've been on Noom for a bit now, following their course. I know, there are many people who say it's not good for you. And I see their point (I really don't like their color system). But there is also a lot on there that IS good for me. I've been learning a lot about the psychology side of eating. I've had quite a few aha moments. So my first nutrition goal is to continue the noom course, maybe I can even finish it within this challenge as I am over half way. Noom has been talking about different eating strategies. Like paleo, keto, and intermittent fasting (IF). I've had lots of success with IF in the past, until I hadn't. When researching how to do IF when you got a female body I stumbled across the book "Fast like a girl". And it talks on how to do fasting in sync with your monthly cycle. This should take care of the side effects I was having when trying it in the past (hair loss, irregular period etc.), and should even help fix some issues I've been having for ages but my doctor can't help me with like stiff muscles, fatigue and painfull periods. There are 2 versions: a beginner one and an advanced one. I'm going to try the advanced one, but will fall back to the beginner one if necessary. (The beginner one is in parenthesis) So this is going to be my fasting schedule according to my cycle. Day 1 is the first day of my period, and I have a 28 day cycle (more or less). Day 1-5: 15 (13) hour fast Day 6: 24 (15) hour fast Day 7-10: 17 (17) hour fast Day 11-15: 15 (13) hour fast Day 16: 24 (15)hour fast Day 17-19: 17 (15) hour fast Day 20-28: 13 hour fast (no fasting) Fitness I found a zumba class that's a 5 minute walk from my house! So I'm going there once a week. I even got a punch card instead of a subscription, which is so perfect for me. I'm never leaving there. Next to this I've been trying so many different workout schedules and styles. Now I'm doing ringfit (nintendo switch) for an hour twice a week. I had been having trouble with hitting a wall 30 minute into my workout. Then I came across a video about pre-workout. I thought that was just for body builders, but apparently it's for when you want to workout longer. I found one without cafeïne or other stimulants, because I can't sleep if I have more than 3 cups of coffee a week (yes, a week you heard me right). And the stuff is epic! No more wall. Sure, I get tired and sore from the workout, but there is no block that makes it feel I'm standing in quick sand while trying to workout. I have no side effects. I researched the ingredients and everything I found says the stuff is save and you won't develop a dependence on it. Enrichment I should read more. I want to. But my phone and pc are such an easy distraction. So my goal this challenge is to read 10 pages a day. Of any book. I think that's it. I'm going to find some Doodlies now to say hi to. If they're still around here that is. And if you want to be friends, just drop a message below. It's fun meeting new people here 🙂
  6. It's my birthday! We celebrated as a family over the weekend, and my and my husband are going to celebrate our birthdays together with family on the 21st. My kids made me cute drawings and my husband gave me a donation for the new computer I'm saving for. My current one keeps freezing and BSOD'ing on me, despite all my attempts to fix it. It's probably a hardware problem. The challenge is going well so far. I really didn't want to work out yesterday, so I did it anyway. Food could be a little better, but it's that time of the month, and my birthday, so I'm going to give myself some slack here. My head said no to reading the last couple of days. I'm sure I'll get back into it. I think I need to lower my goal to reading one sentence a day. That might get things going again.
  7. LOL my 12 year old writes the most awkward responses, and just assumes others know what he's talking about.
  8. So glad you guys still remember me ☺️
  9. I hope that headache will go away soon! LOL I need updates 😂
  10. Hi! I'm doing really well, how about you? The boys are growing up so fast. Peter just started secondary school 😳
  11. Here to cheer you on! 800 Book is impressive! #goals
  12. Hi there! Glad to see you're slaying already. Keep up the good work!
  13. Hi there! Long time no see I've been AWOL for a few years, but I'm finally ready to come back. Older and, hopefully, wiser. So here are my goals for this challenge: Food: Back to kcal counting It seems to be the easiest way to get my weight in check. I'm using EatThisMuch to help me this time instead of MFP, which for some reason does weird stuff with my head (trying to eat too little and then binge when I can't anymore). This app seems healthier in it's way to have you stay on course. I'll be sticking to aproximately 1800 kcal. Slow and steady wins the race. Movement: keep on moving, 3 times a week I've been exercising 3 times a week for a while now. Some weeks are better than others. I've got a membership to a fitness center where they do circuit training: all the equipement is in a circle and after 40 seconds you have to switch to the next one. 3 rounds of that is 30 minutes. I started there in April. And it was fun, but it's getting boring now, so I need a little accountablity on that front. I've also been working out at home when I didn't want to people. Life: Read! I've been unable to sit down an read for a long time: I just read the same sentence over and over again and my mind just didn't want to cooperate. But lately I've been able to read again, so that's what I'm going to do! For 20 minutes each day. It has to be a book. Or a magazine. A hard copy of something. Yup that's it. Let's go!!!!
  14. The things I learn here 😯 Door knobs give me more of an office vibe
  15. I've been feeling a bit under the weather. Possibly because all this rain I keep having to bike through 😛 The price for living in the Netherlands (although I hear England is even worse ) Husband has been working from home this week, because of the second corona wave our country is experiencing. I like having him around all day The boys are loving it too: so much attention from dad
  16. I you're worried she'll get out of her room: you can turn the door handles, so the face up. It worked like a charm for my boys. The worst thing that can happen is she doesn't fall asleep in her bed. You can always carry her back in if that happens
  17. I hope you'll have a lovely relaxing time ❤️
