  1. Hey Canadian nerd-fit friends, I'm driving to meet my family at a cabin on the ganonoque in a few weeks, and I'm thinking of coming up by way of Toronto... does anyone want to meet a traveler and his dog to hang out, work out, or go for a hike (especially if there's a cool or pretty place you know of)? You could even come visit us by the lake, for fishing or kayaking or watching the loons!
  2. Do any of you have a pull-up bar that works on a wide door? The only doorway in my cabin is 36 inches (it used to be a door to the outside, before the expansion), and all the pullup bars I can find online seem like they might be too small (some say yes, but appear to have conflicting reviews). Should I just go ahead use my hideous-but-functional carpentry skills and try to make my own? I really want this! I'm just on the verge of being able to do an unassisted pull-up, and I need to have a spot in my house to inspire me to do them at random intervals throughout the day.
  3. I want to begin the habit of throwing food in the slow cooker in the morning and having hot dinner ready when I get home. I would really love to get to the point where I don't need a recipe - just throw some stuff in and forget about it. What are the elements for a good slow cooker pot? I'm guessing you need meat, vegetables, and liquid, but what works best for you? Thanks!
  4. I think manufacturers go way conservative with their estimates on this stuff. I have a fitbit charge hr, which you're not even supposed to shower with, and I wear it in the pool and the shower and lakes and stuff, and there's never been an issue.
  5. If you're willing to drop $60, go to amazon and get a tim3 machin3... it's a really good slow cooker, it makes awesome rice and quinoa, you can do yogurt (haven't tried that yet), it has delay timers, it has the most non-stick pot i've ever felt, and you can make the world's best and easiest-to-peel hard-boiled eggs in it with about a cup of water and 15 minutes of steaming.
  6. That's perfect! Thanks! Obviously, not all will work in U.S. (you have to go to specialty shops to get most non-standard cuts of meat, and they're not as cheap as they should be). cottage cheese is gonna be a great one. I'm not actually trying to do a paleo diet, just eat less grains.
  7. Hi, I'm just getting started. I want to stock up on foods, but a lot of the stuff the (paleo-leaning) people endorse on this site can get expensive (ie good meat). What are some of your favorite cheap healthy foods? Bonus stars for things that I can grab and eat really quickly when the hunger hits me (when I cut out grains I need to eat so much more volume than I'm used to that I can't stuff in enough at a meal to get me through to the next meal)!!! Thanks!
  8. Hi, I'm Ezra. 27 years old, living in Chapel Hill, NC. I had a pretty crappy year for a lot of reasons and I've realized that I have a ton of habits that are really extremely unhealthy. I come home from work and I sit down at the computer to try to muffle my anxieties with the internet. I had brain cancer when I was a teenager; the surgery left me with some severe motor and balance deficits. I recovered enough to get by, but I think it served me as an excuse not to work hard at exercise or anything else. I want to change everything, but only one little bit at a time!
