  1. nvm....a fridge became available so that should make things easier
  2. So, question: I am looking for the best midday snack that is quick/ easy/ storable at room temp. Right now, I bring bananas and apples, and I also have a jar of almonds in my classroom as well. I guess what I am asking is this...is there a better option that fits my criteria? Thanks for any info!
  3. had some uncured bacon last nigth with dinner...deliciousness
  4. thank you all...exactly what I was looking for. I've kind of gotten that same sense of eating what works for you, but I try to focus on free range chicken when I can. What should I be looking for to get "good bacon"? Like are there key words (ie free range, grass fed, organic, etc.) that I should keep an eye out for?
  5. interesting, and quite exciting to know as I love me some beef!!! A follow up question: Will this increased red meat/ bacon consumption increase the chances of bad cholesterol (sp?)/ high blood pressure/ related health problems? Thank again for the info!
  6. So a question for my fellow Paleo-ers...everyone here loves to talk about their bacon and beef (the rock stars of the meat world), and I was wondering if these kind of items are "good" for you, or "ok" as a source of protein. Traditional wisdom would say fatty meat is bad, but obviously traditional wisdom is not being trusted completely due in part to its love of grains and bread/ pasta. Anyways, my question: Does the Paleo diet consider red meat/ bacon/ other super-fatty meats a good thing (eat them whenever you need protein...like chicken), or does it see them as something acceptable which should not be a staple? {{also, I am not so much focused on the idea of fat being good or bad...I know fat has a bad rap. I was just wondering if less healthy meats are still a "best in moderation" kind of thing.}}
  7. I keep seeing your avatar and wanting to yell out "Captain cAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAveman"
  8. Something I have done in terms of form is trying to focus on a couple key things, and then adding more to my concentration. I began squats by knowing to push my shoulder blades back/ together. Then, i thought about weight on my heels. Now, I am focusing on how i use my legs and their positioning throughout. The whole thing can be daunting, but breaking it down into steps will make it easier.
  9. good point, and I kind of figured as much. At the moment, I have no goal in mind for my workouts (besides looking and feeling good). I think parkour would be cool to pick up, but I can't say I have any for sure focus right now, except all around fitness.
  10. ok, exactly what i was wondering. I love the idea of crossfit, and once I understand all of the exercises, I would love to get into it fully. It all seems straightforward enough...assuming you know how to do the exercises
  11. pizza for sure. as was said before, i dont consider myself 100% paleo due to cheat meals/ days/ holidays, but when I am on my own or planning my meal for just me, its paleo all the way. I found that the cravings for bagels/ muffins/ doughnuts have dissappeared over time as well. It does get easier after the first week
  12. Fair enough. I think if I was to take up crossfit, I would do it with a plan to become my own instructor at some point...that way I could think of the lessons more as a one-time investment rather than a monthly burden. Do you find that you could do the workouts on your own if you had the proper equipment?
  13. interesting...it seems the biggest worry with crossfit boils down to two things... 1. Poor designed workouts from underqualified trainers I could take care of this by researching, and making sure I am getting someone "in the know" 2. technqiue being poor, or technique slipping due to time constraints. I know my squats/ deadlifts are currently at average or below form, and I want to be fully confidant in my technique before moving on to anything more advanced (like crossfit). Also, surprised at the price of crossfit classes...seems VERY pricey.
  14. Hello fellow Rebels and Nerds! I find myself here with the search for a more efficient workout, and maybe (I hope) one on the way to work in the morning! Anyways, I know almost nothing about Crossfit, but the idea definitely intrigues me. I would like to incorporate more lifting into my regiment, and Crossfit seems to have some degree of that involved, along with a focus on total fitness. In addition, I would like to be able to continue my normal lifting if possible, and I am curious as to how the two would co-exist in my life. Any answers are appreciated, and thanks for any info you all can give.
  15. I definitely don't have a "run this much, burn this much" mentality...its more like I want to be good at running/ biking/ swimming, so I want to incorporate them as much as possible. I think it would be good for me to find a weight plan that has me lifting everyday...RFG only goes every other day. Any ideas for a good everyday lifting plan? the Nerd Fitness ones all seem to be every other day, or four days a week. Meanwhile you guys seem to go everyday doing lifting. Anyone got a good plan to share, or am I missing something?
