  1. LoL - whining is acceptable, especially since you don't typically do it. When people like you whine, that means it's serious. Besides - you wield a sledgehammer ... who'd be dumb enough to cuss you out for whining when you're holding a sledgehammer?? 100 squats is pretty damn badass. And I bet, by the end of the year, you are cranking totally unassisted chin ups like you've been doing 'em since childhood. I have all the faith in the universe, especially as hard as you work. Btw - do you ever do epsom salt baths? That really helps me with the second-day muscle pay-back.
  2. We apparently had the same day yesterday. Sadly, I didn't get the physical work out like you did, so you did a TON better than me! Here's to today being better than yesterday - for both of us.
  3. What is a spy bar?? Maybe what you are supposed to "work on" is mental health and therefore the universe is making sure you just take it really damn easy physically. I'm sorry you are hurting in your back - it is so hard to get back pain to ease up. But a seriously good weekend is probably exactly what you need!

    The Power of 3

Thanks, you two This morning, things are looking just a bit more calm ... I did nothing physical last night, except try to help my oldest son - which took every fiber of my being and all of my concentration. But today is "regroup" day, and I hope to do a light, restorative session tonight, eat a wonderfully cool salad for supper and then get some very much needed sleep. That has been on seriously short supply over this last week,
  5. Heh ... I think my new favorite saying will be "Eat one frog at a time." That awesome. Major congrats on the pullups!!
  6. I think you're doing fabulously. I don't know how you are being so diligent in tracking your food like this, so congratulations. I tried it once, and let's just say my head was about ready to explode, so I gave up. So definitely yay, you! What do you play on the Kinect sports?
  7. Look at you being halfway through the challenge and have met almost all the goals completely. That's some serious work right there. Damn fine job, Lady. And I like Dillpedo's idea of combining forces to form Team Rawr LoL ....Since I'm so short - you hit high, I'll aim low - opponents won't know what hit 'em.
  8. You, drsloomis, are full of awesome sauce. That is all.
  9. So awesome you had such a good time! I find slackline yoga scary yet fascinating. You are doing incredibly well, especially with all the responsibilities you have.

    Circe's challenge

Yay you .... working on shaking off a crappy several days is damned hard, so good for you!
  11. Oooo - you might call it yucky and unlucky - I find spiderwebs (and spiders in general) to be the opposite - so I think you got a tase (hee .. literally) of some good, strong as silk, luck! ((I'm a spinner and a weaver - I have an affinity for spiders)). Congrats on the successes so far!
  12. I think you aren't giving yourself enough credit for the successes of the week. I know I have the hardest time cutting myself slack - and you apparently do, as well. I think your week reads very successful - sticking to schedules sometimes is utterly out of our control. And when that happens, you just hafta' ride it out.

    The Power of 3

Activity from 9 July - 35 minutes racquetball and 3 minutes total of jump rope was all I could muster. I spent the rest of my evening working diligently to not have a temper tantrum of EPIC. PROPORTIONS. I wanted to soooooooooo badly though since everything seems to be piling up all at once. But I maintained my temper, ate just a tad of junk food to console myself and then read for 30 minutes before bed.

Eh - parenthood. Lotta work sometimes. As a family, we're getting through it. And me bugging everyone in their threads helps keep me motivated, too.

LoL - we're beginning to form Team Skillet and Team Sledge ..... those who use cast iron skillets (think of the movie Tangled) and those who weild Sledgehammers. My cast iron skillet is a pound heavier than my ex-hubby's sledge <snicker>

    The Power of 3

End of week threeupdate: Fitness goal update: 3 New poses - (goal to get into without modification and stay for 3-5 breaths) B+ So far Bow COMPLETED Tiptoe – Left leg as anchor, I can hold for 3 breaths, right leg - still need to place hand on ground for balance Dancer – Can stay for 5 breaths on left leg, 5 on right - one hand holding back extended leg, front hand pointing slightly upward. Breath count goal hit - but it will take months and months of work to be able to hold upward extended leg with both hands. 3 Long Hold poses - B+ so far. King Pigeon – This week's mini-challenge of midfulness has been extraordinary for my work in this pose. Got deeper into it than ever before. Crow – COMPLETED Can do 10 breaths. new, mini-goal is to exit the pose more fluidly. Half Moon - Deciding that looking forward, rather than looking up, has allowed me to focus on the pose more as a whole. I have an issue with my outside calf cramping on my standing leg ... perhaps I'm straining and trying to muscle into staying. 3 Additional physical activities: A so far Racquetball 2x per week – COMPLETE - 2 times this week. Jump rope 2x per week COMPLETE. Inverted rows 2x per week. Did it. Max so far in one sitting: 13!! I've also added SkilletGlove (aka Shovelglove with a cast ironskillet) and Zumba to the rotation of activities! Life goal update- Sew for others - 1/3 of goal DONE. I actually got Liz's wedding shower gift done - a cover-up for her to wear on her honeymoon. Finished it last night! Knit Singles Project: Swatch started - but not yet completed. Worked on finishing Liz's wedding shower gift. Set up sewing room - Not happening at all, for reasons stated in Week 2 update. Overall - A- to B+ for fitness goals; C for life goal.

I've got my fingernails dug in, Stareyedgirl ... I've got a deathgrip on what little rope I have left to hang on to, LoL.

Thanks, JediJem! I appreciate the support. Went and played racquetball for an hour last night and got some frustration and aggression out. Accidentally nailed my younger son in the back with a rebound shot. Oops. My SkilletGlove workouts are working. I'm quite excited about anything you post for me! These cross-guild happenings are making things an awful lot of fun.

    The Power of 3

Yeah - the older they get, the more expensive and/or serious the trouble gets. Rotten kids. Their toys get more expensive, too. Elmo used to work ... now it's Skyrim. Team Skillet will harness its mighty power before too long. Thanks for the support, Elastigirl.
  20. LoL - way to go you!!!! I love it when someone looks at you all "When did YOU get muscles?!" Always just makes you feel like everything is worth it. And to top it off, you'll get an awesome new deck!
  21. Oh how I wish I had the courage to do this with you all! You are badasses - I'm a middle-aged woman who does yoga LoL - definitely NOT your speed!! LoL - how fun though. Have there been many challengers?
  22. RoFLoL ... you have NO idea how much I needed that!!! It's been such a crappy few days here, between the Team Skillet/Team Sledge shirts and this video ... I've laughed for the first time in days. Thanks. Elastigirl - we definitely need our Superhero shirts! I need to get back into "badass" mindset and you always inspire me. ((And I am totally with you on hurling the yippy dogs ....))
  23. So many of us seem to have had a really rough past few days! Adding your name to the list too. So when your Monday starts - it's a fresh start! I can see, though, that you will kick arse on the plank and push-up goals! I'm glad you like the hip sequence. Some other poses that are really good for the hips (many suggested to me by Livingroovy at the start of this challenge): lizard, bow, dancer, sugar cane. Wish I had some suggestions on how to get past that initial block, but I don't. Frankly, I'm having the same problem. I'm about to sit down and watch Wimbledon. Don't know if you watch tennis at all, but go Andy Murray!
