    PJC blazes a new trail

I can't believe that almost six weeks has passed. I'v had alot of ups and downs over the course of this challenge and I've learned a few things. I plan to spend some time this weekend assessing some of that new knowledge and preparing for another challenge. Tomorrow is my doctor's appointment and I'm hopeful I can find some options for dealing with my hormonal rollercoaster. I'll post my final "grades" as soon as the challenge is complete.

Today was a great day. We had a mini warm up so my fiance and I got out for a nice hike. It was tough walking as the snow was deep and slushy but sorta icy. We went down a creek valley and then back up the hillside. I used a walking stick and that helped a lot with my back and hip. I felt so strong, hope I can hold onto the feeling!
  3. I think your progress is impressive too. That's why I love reading your thread, it inspires me to do more. I'm starting a new strength circuit tomorrow and I've included some inverted rows. Can't wait!
  4. Hey I was thinking about you too. Hope to hear how its been going for you
  5. I've never done inverted rows but I think I will add them starting next week. I need to change up my strength routine to keep it interesting and those look interesting.

So I did make an appointment with a doctor at a "women's mid-life health" center. I'm hoping I can talk through my symptons with her and get some suggestions for things to try. There is so much info out there its hard to know what to do. I am open to nutrition and other non hormone treatments. My appointment is next Friday. In the meantime I am going to stick with the workouts and modified Paleo diet I've been following for the challenge. I have been trying to get in two yoga sessions a week because it helps with stress but my joint pain has been over the top this week. Especially in my hip. Sometimes I feel like such a mess!! Not sure how this happended to me but I got to get it turned around.
  7. Hope you made it to the gym today! We've been having alot of snow too which gives me an opportunity to work from home. That makes it easier for me to get my workout in without the long commute I normally have. Good luck preparing for the color run!
  8. Hi, glad you didn't have any broken bones and that your injury is healing. Sorry about the superbowl, I was rooting for the Seahawks too . I'll be sending you positive vibes for the last two weeks of this challenge, lets finish strong!!

Thanks for the encouragement, I can really use it! I weighed myself this morning and I have gained two pounds. I have been consistent with my workouts for the whole challenge but my diet has been all over the place. My mood is up and down constantly too. I am considering going to an ob/gyn that speacilizes in menopause. I did some research and found a few options. I think some of my symptons are on the severe side The only thing stopping me is that when I talked to my regular ob/gyn about my symptons she just brushed them off and told me to suck it up. Not exactly the response I was hoping for!!

Thanks for the suggestions. I did eat some dairy last week, mostly greek yogurt and a little cheese. I also had some whole grains. The week went much better. I still didn't lose any weight but I felt pretty good. Hopefully this week I can drop some pounds.
  11. Hey thought I would check out your challenge thread after I remembered you had posted in the over 50 thread. Sounds like the first couple of weeks went well, hope you've been able to keep it up! You mentioned you have had some hormone stuff going on, I hope it straightens out. Hormone fluxes can be really tough to deal with sometimes.

Well halfway through this challenge, I seem to have lost my way. I am looking for direction from you guys. I added some information below about what I've been doing and what I'm thinking about changing. Any suggestions would be appreciated!!
  13. Congrats on your success with the challenge so far and that kitten is so adorable. I just had to smile
