  1. I am registering me and my brother for team Nerd Fitness for the Berlin Mudder (at the Lausitzring) for the Saturday. If anyone wants to join just tell me and I'll send you the password!
  2. Yeah that sounds great. Glad that you can make it! Feel free to invite others, I might try as well, but they all seem untrained (yet) and avoid hard things
  3. I would not mind either of them I guess, will need to take some days off work afterwards anyway If we go on Sunday I think I might watch it the day before, on Saturday we'd be totally unprepared. Both would be fine. So you can decide what's cheaper with the plane tickets. We should get started before the next price raise in June though.
  4. I did not mean to offend you, I just wanted to express I am still in, it just felt strange reading several excuses (valid or not, not up to me to decide) upon returning I hope you can manage this, it would be a great experience. If you'd come, would you prefer sat or sun?
  5. Sounds like you had your fun Maledictus Waiting to hear your story! For us in Berlin it would be at least 15 degrees © I guess, so not too bad I did not post here to back out once the registration is open. I'd even consider doing it alone! Would just like to know if someone would come with me
  6. It doesn't necessary have to be rainy and the temperatures are fine until mid to late November I think.. Sure in the summer it would be nicer, but there's more time to train on the late run.. Do we have any other options?
  7. As an introduction, I'd like to quote RandomWanderer from the EMP thread: That pretty much sums up how I feel and why I did not finish the last challenge. I also did not bother to find the time and energy to post a recap of the last and an intro post to this new challenge. Now I'm trying a minimalistic approach, not specifying much (yet) and leaving it all open and trying my best. I want to keep this easy and maintainable, so that I finally finish a challenge on my fourth (is it already?) try. Goal #1. Drink two liters of water a day. Rehash from the last challenges, but it's that important to me and needs to become a habit finally. Too specific and I failed the last three times. Will just drink as much as possible and not track it. Goal #1: Do a PLPP challenge for the remainder of the challenge. Complete x push-ups, lunges, pull-ups and plank (5*x seconds) each day. Number of sets is irrelevant (I'll even try hard not to make those max-rep sets to not wear me out), just the total number counts. Each day has x++, so I started three days ago and today I did 4 push-ups, 4 lunges each leg, 4 pull-ups and a 20 second plank. I'll track this streak on fitocracy. With this I want to get into the habit of strength training again, build a base but not do too much. Because of the high volume and low amount of reps per set I do not need many rest days I hope. Goal #2: Complete two at least one quest in fitocracy each week. I'd like to do something more active, and I do not care what it is. I like fitocracy and so the quests there are interesting to pursue. Goal #3: Do some sort of brain training at least twice a week. I am very unfocussed and scatterbrained at the moment and this has to improve. I found a brain training program that I want to test that is called lumosity. I'll test if it works for me, otherwise I'll do something else along that matter. Goal #4: Write my manifesto / creed. See last challenge for explanation. This time as a real goal. I want this to happen. No points assigned (yet), I just want to finally get this started.
  8. So, some weeks late, but I still want to wrap this thing up so that I can learn from it for the next challenges. The first two weeks went fine, but then I caugth a nasty flu and was ill for a whole two weeks, which totally derailed my progress. Afterwards I fell into a do it now frenzy. Dit a lot of household chores in the evening that my girlfriend did not manage to take care of during the day, and finished some other projects including rearranging stuff and garden work. All in all, I was pretty exhausted in the evenings, did not even manage to keep up reading my email, let alone reply or post progress here. I also completely lost in on my tracking, so most of the grades are just guesswork. (The bug that messes up my post formatting when posting in Tapatalk also somehow threw me off) The water drinking goal is a very elusive one. It has been haunting me for several challenges and still does. But in the last two weeks, I have improved and it is much easier to do, mainly because it is warmer and I am exercising more again. Grade: D. The cold showers were not that hard in themselves, but I did not find the need to take a shower daily when washing my hair was enough. I changed my behaviour to "when taking a shower, make it a cold one", and have only had one warm shower since, and that was after a hard day of Jugger tournament. Taking cold showers is just something I do now (although I still fear it sometimes), mostly because it wakes me up and is much better for my skin. Grade: B. Exercising: I think I messed up on this one. Did not bother much with strength training, because I made myself so busy during the day. I went for some runs though, mainly because I signed up for a marathon relay event at work where I will be running a fifth of a marathon next thursday. So I did well on the running part, but need to get back into strength training. Grade: C. For journalling I used the app "Everyday.me" which worked quite well for the purpose, but I did not find the time or energy to do it every evening. I completely stopped for the last month and have started again two days ago. I need some framework for this to have some ideas what to write about to make this work, but I still don't know if this will yield any benefit to me, so I feel pretty "meh" about that. Grade: D I also did not take the time to write my manifesto / creed. Although I still have ideas and core values that I want to manifest in there, I did not get to do that. I'll pick it up again this next challenge. Grade: F Overall grade: D. I will not give myself any attribute points or level up (again), because I did not follow the challenge and write any updates most of the time. On to the next one.
  9. I noticed that Berlin is open for registration! Prices will rise on the 9th, so we should do the registration before that date! Chris, substix, are you still in? Do you prefer the Saturday or Sunday? I wouldn't mind either of them so it is up to you. Will need some vacation afterwards anyway I guess
  10. So... How do I import the sheet into the google drive app?
  11. Thanks for the recommendation! Will check that right after I get up tomorrow morning.
  12. Lots of exercises I've never tried? Count me in!
  13. Oh noes! I even got in a measly 10x 50m hill sprints in addition to my workout sometime last week but then forgot to update the sheet.. Need to do better on the next one.. Need to figure out how to do the google docs thing on iPad because that stopped me from entering them right away..
  14. Hey, great idea there.. Could at least sketch up a rough summary and some bullet points to get started.. I'm progressing nicely on the other goals, did my fastest 3k ever in15:22. Will be great to see a new 5k time after the challenge, the first one in vibrams.. Gotta be faster than ever I guess Up next: Strength training tomorrow or Thursday.
  15. Progress report: Water drinking: It's tougher on the weekend with no structured daily order but everything's on track. Cold showers: Same problem here, and I did not have a shower yesterday so that's one day missed. Exercise: wanted to do something yesterday but spent the whole day about town with my girlfriend so it is either swimming or BW exercises today. Journaling: Easiest goal of the challenge but the real use won't show until before some more weeks I guess. Manifesto: Wanted to do something this morning but lost over three hours to heavy snooze abuse. Need to work on that as well, I'm losing so much time of my free weekends to this..
