  1. Hey guys! Sorry I'm a little late on this one, but here I am! I'm still trying to keep things simple, so this challenge will be focused on two of my Level Up Your Life (LUYL) goals... I'll have a quest for each, and a third personal quest. LUYL Goal #1: Finish School Quest 1: Finish Global Business by February 29. My goal for my remaining 12 classes is to finish one per month. This class has a cohort session that runs from the 10th to the 26th, and this should set me up to be able to pass my final exam by the 29th. I've carved out specific study time during the week, and will set aside 5-6 hours on the weekend for studying. LUYL Goal #2: Nationals 2016 Quest 2: Get back into my regular training. I have an appointment to see a hand specialist today to discuss the possibility of having to get surgery on my wrist. What I am hoping is that I can put off surgery until after Nationals in May. If I can do this, then I will probably have to get cortisone injections to keep my wrist from being too painful for weightlifting. I'm okay with this, as long as it's not going to cause more issues down the road. So, my ultimate goal is to get back into my regular lifts this month. If the hand specialist doesn't think this is such a great idea and suggests surgery sooner than later, my road to Nationals is over for this year. If this is the case, I will amend this goal accordingly. Quest 3: Read, dammit. READ! I have once again stopped most enjoyable reading (with the exception of LUYL!). Instead, I find myself staring at my phone for hours in the evening before I go to bed. Not cool. I'm committing to reading non-school books for 30 minutes, at least 3 times per week. This doesn't sound like much, but it usually jump starts me back into reading more often. Here we go again, nerds!

I managed to finish a class right before my term ended on Sunday, so I only fucked up 2 classes last term, instead of 3 or 4. I set up my new term and I have already started working on my next class! Overall: This was a great step back into challenges for me! I'll be coming up with my next one very soon. Thanks for the support, nerds!
  5. Great job on the challenge! Also, I'm very much looking forward to trying Moe's based on your opinion. I had never even heard of it when they started building it.
  6. HI GUYS! My coach (Uncle Charles) has extended an invitation to Sacramento area nerds to come hang out at Crossfit Sacramento tonight. It's open gym, so you can come get in a workout and get some hands-on coaching, or you can just come to say hi and hang out! The address is: 1146 Fulton Ave, Sacramento, CA Website: CrossfitSacramento.com Charles gets there at 5:00, and I'm usually there by 5:30/6:00. We have open gym every Friday night, so feel free to come in any other week also! We are also planning a NF Meetup for the near future, so I'll start another thread once we get the ball rolling.
  7. Pause squat FTW! You know what's even more awesome? Tempo squats. I've never counted to 5 so fast in my life as I did on my last set of those the other day.
  8. Hey, great job on your challenge! Sorry I hadn't popped in sooner. Can't wait to see all your gains in the future! I secretly hope you fall in love with Olympic weightlifting because I selfishly want more weightlifter nerd friends.
  9. To properly hurt your thumbs, you must attempt to hook grip the heaviest weight possible the first time you attempt it. Srsly tho, hook grip is great. I do Olympic weightlifting, so it's second nature for me. Sometimes I even find myself hook gripping my steering wheel when I'm driving. A proper hook grip can help a lot with deadlifts. Here are some pics: Some people can fit their thumb under three fingers, some only two, and I've seen a few people that can only get it under one finger. Personally, I use two fingers. Your other option, of course, is straps. I use straps for deadlifts, pulls, and snatches.
  10. Well, if you're ever in interested in checking it out, it's only $19/month for a basic membership. But I'm sure Fitness 19 has what you need.
  11. I've been doing tempo and pause squats. I think I'll need to do that online shopping also.
  12. I'm doing them a bit more now because I needed to work on my lower back strength. I don't see any reason to do them with a lot of weight. When people try to PR on silly shit like this, it ends up just being a pissing contest. I stick to relatively light weights with perfect form for like 5-8 reps at a time.
  13. For sure! I'm dealing with an injury right now, so I don't know when I will compete next, but I'll let you know!
  14. Hi Randy! It seems that there are a few of us in the area, but we haven't been able to get much going for any kind of meet up. Maybe we will if more people start popping up!
  15. If you're ever looking for a coach, Charles is the man. Not just for Olympic lifting too. He's coaching me through a powerlifting phase right now, and he's a really great crossfit coach.
  16. That's awesome. Do you go to Gold's? That's where I was working out for a while. It's a great gym.
  17. OOOOOOHHHHH! HA! Well, you are still welcome. I'm not a fan of snow sports... I would mostly sit in a warm room and play on my phone. Sorry!
  18. pssssssssssssssssssstttttttttt... my coach is lurking on the boards. teeheehee.
  19. I'm actually 95% sure we live really close to each other. Moes on Sunrise and Cirby?
  20. Somehow I've almost completely missed your challenge. Here I am now. HI! I also didn't know we were like actual neighbors...
  21. WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!?!?! How did I not know this? Dood.
  22. HEY YOU!!! You've come over to the dark side, I see. This is where I hang out online. These are my peeps. Nerds, Uncle Charles is my new coach! SAY HI!
