  1. Hello!! I'm starting the next 4 week challenge a bit late, but I'm here! My goals for this challenge will be: -Doing yoga for at least 10 minutes every day -Walking outside 3 times per week -Doing meditation or Tai chi 2 times per week for 15 minutes I've been doing a lot of kettlebell workouts for the last few years, which I love, however, I just had my second baby and I feel like focusing more on grounding and connecting to my body/breath and slowing down/staying present are what I have been craving physically and mentally in the three months since I've given birth. I'd like to shift my perspective inwards right now while still staying healthy! Thank you for your support!
  2. Oh my goodness gracious have 6 weeks gone by already? This has been one busy challenge, and due to me finally catching that terrible flu that's been going around, I don't feel like I'm ending this one on a high note. I feel recovered enough to be able to do one last body weight workout today, but have skipped the last 2 due to illness. I am going to return to my normal schedule this week and prepare myself for my 4th challenge on June 8th! See you then, and thanks for helping me stay motivated
  3. Hahaha I wish it was like a silly walk! I call it my Jedi walk because I have my 2 year old son on my back Yoda-style! Our walks are a fun bonding time for both of us and I get a great workout carrying those extra 35lbs! I started a new job at a daycare center this week, so the new routine has changed this up a bit,but we still manage to get our walk in and even though I've been tired at the end of the day, I have been sticking to those body weight workouts as well! I'm feeling highly motivated this week! There is nothing I can't do!
  4. Wow this picture is everything! Love love love! Submitting work is fun! My stuff isn't for everyone, so I'm getting more and more used to rejection letters but it feels extra great when I actually get something accepted! I went out of town this last week and fell off the Paleo train pretty hard. We went to visit family for a big Mother's Day fest which means lots of yummy food and drinks and well, I couldn't resist some treats I'm back home again now so that means it's business as usual. Although my eating habits weren't so good while I was out of town I was still exercising quite a bit and brought my weight so I could do my workouts. Between that, and walking and running, I have been on schedule for the most part Yesterday I did my first body weight workout back home: Squats(with weight) 20-20-20 Push-ups 12-12-12 Kettlebell press 10-10-10 Walking lunges 24-24-24 Bicep curls 12-12-12 Plank hold 30sec-30sec-30sec Kettlebell shelf 7-5-7 Jumping jacks 30-30-30 I think I'm going to start playing with adding some reps here and there just to mix things up for the last couple of weeks I'm off for my Jedi walk with my son! Thanks for all your encouragement!
  5. Looking for creepy bugs sounds like fun! I currently teach a beginners Yoga class, a general Hatha Yoga class, and a kids yoga class as well things are going great! The kettlebell is getting easier every time I do my workouts, but I am still getting used to it I have been submitting more of my work to publishers and magazines and so far one of my pieces has already been accepted Just finished today's workout and feeling stronger every day! Thanks for your support! (I love that Kermit pic btw )
  6. I'm still here after week one! I admit that this week I totally didn't stick to being Paleo-it was hot and I indulged in some ice cream and sweets this past week, but I'm hoping back on the wagon today Yesterday I kept up with my body weight workout (#3 so far) despite the heat, feeling exhausted and sore due to the additions to my exercise routine. The kettlebell is really kicking my ass! I know I'm getting stronger every single day I do my workouts and that motivates and inspires me I taught my yoga class this afternoon and had a couple of new students this week (woo hoo!) Here's to week #2! Bring it on!
  7. Phew! I'm on day 3 of this challenge and I already know the additions I made to my workout routine are going to make me so much stronger! (and probably kick my ass for the first few weeks) Monday I did my new walking route and my new body weight workout Tuesday/Wednesday I did yoga for 30-45 minutes (I am beginning to explore some more challenging asanas and loving the process) This morning I did my walking routine and walked a bit further than Monday/Tuesday(Not too much further, but my legs are certainly feeling it!) and my BW workout. The exercises I am doing are: Squats(with kettlebell) 25-25-25 Push-ups 12-12-12 Walking lunges 24-24-24 Kettlebell press 10-10-10 Plank holds 30sec-30sec-30sec Kettlebell shelf 10-10-10 Jumping jacks 30-30-30 I am trying to stay motivated for the first 2 weeks of this challenge(when the muscular adjustments feel the roughest) so thanks for all the support!
  8. Greeting! I'm excited to embark on my 3rd nerd fitness challenge! My Jedi training has been going well these last 2 challenges and I am excited to see where this challenge takes me! I've been wanting to incorporate a kettlebell into my routine, and this is the challenge seems like the perfect time! Goal 1: I'm going to be continuing my body weight workouts 3 times per week, as well as at least 20 minutes of yoga 3 times per week. I will be adding 3 kettlebell exercises to my body weight workout as well as 3-5 reps for each of my usual exercises. In addition to this, I will be changing up my walking routine. I live in a hilly country area and I have been going on 1 mile walks with my son 4 times per week, and I am going to be adding to my walk by walking on a steeper road. Goal 2: I will also be continuing to eat Paleo 90% of the time Goal 3: I have been wanting to publish some of my writing lately, but have had a hard time motivating myself, so for this challenge, I will also be submitting my work to at least 2 publishers every week. Look forward to the journey! Thanks for coming along with me!
  9. Challenge #2 complete!!!! Feeling great!

  10. Yay!!! I made it through my second NF challenge I can't wait to start challenge #3!!!! Thanks for all the support
  11. I know the challenge isn't done yet, but I wanted to post this progress photo today I got my body weight workout done yesterday and have been doing my daily yoga routine (been able to actually kick up into headstand this week---which I haven't been able to do in years )
  12. Benbot and I have decided to buy a kettlebell as a reward at the end of this challenge! I'm excited to start to add it to out workouts on the next challenge. I've been beating myself up for not being 100% Paleo this challenge like I had planned but looking back, maybe it was a bit of a stretch for me to expect to go 100% on my second challenge and after all I've been doing pretty well if I do say so myself. I've lost 15 lbs since the start of my first challenge and am only 7lbs away from my personal goal weight! I've just finished a body weight workout: 60 squats 60 walking lunges 30 push ups 30 bicep curls(on each side) Jumping jacks AND 30 minutes of yoga today!
  13. Looking forward to our body weight workouts on Friday! Woo hoo!
  14. Woo hoo! Still going strong, but I can feel my body going through another "challenging" phase. Today all of my muscles have been soooo sore and I've been fantasizing about milkshakes and French fries and beer. The darkside is tempting me, but I will Jedi through it! I'm logging in my body weight workouts, my yoga practice, and my mile walks this last week. I've managed to stick with everything up to this point and I'm hoping I'll return to feeling strong in another couple of days! Thanks for sticking with me
