  1. Made it up Dreadlock Hill with ease. What a difference six weeks makes. Right now I feel like I could climb Everest
  2. Awake nice and early having slept for eight hours through the night - six weeks ago I never thought I'd be doing that once let alone regularly - and this morning I'm going up Dreadlock Hill to get my dreads washed and tidied up. I'm going up it in one go with a smile on my face. Congrats to everyone else who's reached Level 2. Woot
  3. Thanks Elastigirl and Chris-Tien Jinn. Finishing strong and feeling great
  4. Is this the right thread to say hello on? Hope so. Hello Just coming to the end of my recruit challenge, loving Nerd Fitness and especially grateful for the splendid Assassin ambassadors who cheered me on on my thread. Thank you. Looking forward to becoming an Assassin and wearing more black, lots more black.

Assassins for me. Really appreciate them cheering me on on my challenge thread and befriended the ambassadors that did so. Off to their forum to say hello.
  6. Thanks Making little changes like that and then feeling the effects quite quickly really help with motivation.
  7. Good luck, Gainondorf. Hope you crush your mini-goal
  8. Conrgatulations, Rivet! Best of luck kicking the crap out of week five. Couldn't find a gif so have a picture of dog totally going its own way in true NF style
  9. Wishing you good luck for this week of your challenge. Have you ever practised mindfulness? I found it, well to be honest, life-changing in terms of keeping my moods more balanced and not swinging between as you put it 'super stressed and super pumped'. This book is funny, sciencey (science is not my field so it made me feel proper clever) and a great introduction to good mental health and mindfulness especially. Good luck http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sane-New-World-Taming-Mind/dp/1444755757/ref=sr_1_1/276-7923912-4810563?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1422926304&sr=1-1&keywords=sane+new+world+ruby+wax
  10. *waves at you from Devon* Hope getting back on track is going well. I smashed by wrist to buggery - it's a medical term - a few years ago and what really helped me and still helps with stiffness and mobility is my Rubik's cube. You don't have to solve it although that is a good nerd skill to have just holding it in the injured hand and manipulating it all the ways it can be moved and with different fingers has helped my grip and mobility. This is a great guide to solving the cube. Very easy to follow and you'll look cool thereafter.
  11. How are you going? Hope the challenge is going well for you.

Vegetable curry. Swap out the potato for more sweet potato and serve with cauliflower rice for paleo goodness that everyone wants to eat. The recipe is for mild curry so if you like it hot add more masala paste and some chllis. This recipe makes a huge amount of curry so it's great for splitting into portions and freezing for when you need it. http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/775646/vegetable-curry-for-a-crowd
  13. Pets are wonderful but not so loveable when they attack first thing. I have a huge main coon that likes everyone to be up and doing around 06:30. If it's not a paw in the face he walks over us until he's stood on both our heads at once and then starts yowling. Paleo is getting easier but I have to plan. When there's nothing prepared that's when I start thinking 'I'll just have a sandwhich, it won't matter just this once' and have to remind myself that 'just this once' leads to nowhere good. Swapped lattes for peppermint tea when I'm at a coffee shop. I think that's helping weight loss and general feeling better.
  14. Last night I was asleep before midnight and slept until just after seven. I literally cannot remember the last time that happened. Feel shocked and properly happy. Hope everyone else is crushing it

Challenge done (see signature) and yay, I have points! I feel a warm nerdish glow at having some stats Good luck to all as we keep levelling up.
  16. Good luck. Hope you stay psyched and motivated. You can do this!
  17. I'm doing the Beginner Body Weight workout every other day and in the short time that's been going on I can see a difference. I carry myself better and I feel more confident. So best of luck to you and I wish you good results too. Good luck with the belongings purge. I'm guessing you'll feel amazing once everything is tidy and squared away.

    1. I'm struggling to establish a proper sleep routine and still sleeping too much into the day and then being awake all night. 2. Found this http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2014/08/14/how-to-become-a-morning-person/ and this http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2013/11/19/are-you-making-these-mistakes-with-your-sleep/ and read them both through plus the comments. 3. They made me realise I'd gone wrong by trying to make too many huge changes at once. So am now going to put what I've learned into practise by 1) moving alarm clock out of arm's reach and 2) turning all screens off quarter of an hour earlier than normal at night and setting alarm quarter of an hour earlier for the morning and week-by-week adjusting the times back until I'm up in the mornings, every morning, and asleep every night. Also going to keep a sleep diary from now on so I can see what exactly I'm doing.
  19. Thanks Rest of challenge is variable. Paleo eating is good, it's not easy at this stage but I'm enjoying the challenge and cooking new stuff. As I type I have a pheasant that one of my neighbours shot this morning slow-roasting in the oven, never eaten or cooked it before. My biggest problem is sleep. Finding it very hard to establish a proper routine. Am about to go and do this week's Campus Tour challenge and read around the site on the topic. Thanks Assassins for cheering me on with this, it's hugely appreciated
  20. Went up a hill that's about half of Dreadlock Hill. Was breathing hard but not doing open-mouthed-gasp-for-air breathing. Felt good
  21. Back to cheer for you Hope it's going well. I'm finding sorting my sleep out very difficult but I am managing to make a little progress. Wishing you lots of success.
  22. Popping in to cheer you on, hope it's going well I'm taking my first trip to Japan next year specifically to hike Mt Fuji. Is there a time of the year that's best to do it?
  23. I hope to start not worrying about being seen to eat different/being though weird for doing so soon. I did abdandon the paleo thing when I went home. My mum had cooked a very carb-laden meal (not knowing I'd gone Paleo) and she'd done it out of love because I was home. I ate and enjoyed it. Life's too short to upset your mum
  24. Good luck to all for the coming week
