  1. Hi David. I hope you have been eating your vegetables and doing your exercise. There have been some great days for bike riding or walking. I bought a new weight today and will bring it tomorrow morning. Hope you get plenty of rest tonight and are ready to do a great workout in the morning! I know how to change the email address and we can do it tomorrow. Terry
  2. I have been rewarded by loosing 8 pounds so far during this challenge. It is going pretty good, but I am making a chart for my exercise buddy and I may even make one for myself. The food stuff is already charted, but I may give myself stickers on the calender. I should do something with the calender now that most everything is in my phone. Did not get down to working on plank yet, but maybe right now. The scrapbook is going great. Graduation is May 9th.
  3. Hi David, The new challenge starts on Monday so we will write new goals on Tuesday. I hope you are exercising. I just finished doing Zelda Temple 1 Three times. See you Tuesday. Terry
  4. New goals. ready to get to it now: 1. Track all foods eaten and exercise done 2. Do Zelda Workout with warm up and 3 reps of 1 temple at least 3 times every week 3. Increase plank from 1 minute to 2 minutes Non exercise Goal: Complete scrapbook in time for daughter's college graduation
  5. Hi David. I am here with my son, Lee in Las Vegas and he has shown me some things to try. He has also given me some good ideas for us to explore. I will see you Tuesday and we can get to work on Temple 4 and finishing up this challenge. Remember to do your warm-ups and get WALKING! Terry
  6. That is supposed to be 1 repetition of each circut for the temples
  7. Written by David's exercise buddy: David has worked on this challenge and has come up with new goals for the next one. He is doing 30 curl-ups (up from 20), 35 biceps curls with 5 pound free weights, but has not made progress on his eating goal. He has been sitting with his feet on the floor during Blackboard (instead of on the desk) David has also been doing the Zelda Workout. He is able to do the warm-ups, Temple 1 (only 1 repetition) and Temple 2 without the final 30 second running in place. (1 repetition). During a one hour exercise session, he does 10 minutes on the exercise bike, the 3 levels of warmups ( Deku Tree,, Dodongo's Cavern, and Jabu Jabu's Belly) 1 rep of each part of the Forrest Temple (1), one repetition of each part of the Fire Temple (2) except the Boss Battle. He has done a very good job during his Tuesday sessions with this buddy, but has not done enough on other days. He will try to improve on his exercise on other days. New Challenge goal: 1. Do the Zelda Workout Warm-up at least 3 times per week. (Tuesday with buddy, Thursday, and Saturday) 2. Learn how to do all exercises in Temples 1 - 4, performing one rep of at least 3 temples with buddy 3. Eat fewer "meals" and healthy snacks. Include at least 2 vegetables and 1 fruit each day. Non fitness goal: Sit upright during all school activities on the computer.
  8. It is never a waste to throw away something that you do not want and should not want to put in your body. The real waste would be to drink it and then have to work it off. My family always said that one should get their money's worth at buffets, but a wise person taught me that my money's worth provided for the food that I enjoyed eating. If I find it worth the price to go the restaurant and eat nice portions of vegetables and good proteins, then I don't need to do anything else. It is just wasteful to fill my body with stuff I don't need just because it was there. Go and throw that drink away. It tastes like pure sugar because that is what it is. YUK!
  9. Update: 1. Veges are going well. My son offered to send me recipes, but I don't think I need them yet. I eat them raw, cooked plain, in meals, etc. 2. Have not needed to do much aerobics indoors because the electric company has cut down trees all over and we went to get 6 truck loads. Carried wood, loaded wood, unloaded wood, stacked, split, stacked again. A bit sore but it is warm in the house. 3. Plank was up to 45 seconds, but then I fell out of the wood truck and landed on my hands and left knee. Injured my triceps so plank took a vacation. Much better now so I will be getting back to it. Knee is superficial so just not kneeling in Church. Other goal 1. Built my new spice rack. 2. Made new jars with labels. 3. Caught the flu from my granddaughter. Not an accomplishment, just a good excuse. I am looking forward to the next challange and already coming up with my new goals. I am doing the Zelda workout with my student and I might build something around that. He is teaching me about Zelda (she appears to be a princess) and I teach him how to do the exercises. Teamwork!
  10. Week One Report (got a late start) 1. Not having any trouble getting the 3 veges. I like vegetables. 2. Doing 100 step-ups most days if I am not too tired from hauling wood. Good to get some inside aerobics 3. Regular plank for 30 seconds, up from 20. Airplane for 15 on left, 20 on right. up from 10 Having trouble with leg cramps while doing airplane Having the most trouble squeezing in time for projects. I only count activities which produce something but are beyond everyday stuff that I will have to do again next week. (Cleaning the kitchen- NO, Building and installing a new spice rack in the kitchen - YES.) Getting a weeks worth on wood for the furnace - NO, building a new sawhorse for using my chain saw - YES. This week -A. Hemmed 15 pair of my daughters pants, B. donated blood a pint of blood, C. bought, cleaned, roasted and froze butternut squash for soup in times when they are not available for 5 batches of soup
  11. David is a young man who attends high school online in a low ratio class. I am his school Physical Therapist. We are doing this challenge together so we can both get in better shape. David is feeling a little isolated because serious medical concerns happening in his family have changed the family dynamics. Since he attends school on the computer, he does not have access to the constant support of school friends. He enjoys talking to friends and people who could become his friends. David has several interests. His first love is computer games, mostly Clash of the Clans, Battle Island, Boom Beach, and Crash of the Castle. Since he is still in school, his computer game time is limited. He also is interested in cooking, especially gluten-free cooking (although he is not medically gluten-free himself). He enjoys bowling, Putt-Putt Golf, and lawn games like Crochet. He is also very helpful to other members of his family, taking on a larger role in the care of his siblings and helping his mother with activities that require strength. David participates in a supervised exercise program for one hour per week and is attempting to add 2 independent sessions per week. He is very responsive to competitions and challenges, which is why he has joined this group. We hope to continue participating in challenges as they are posted although I may be a bit out of my league since I am not a game player. I am sure that David would like to join a guild and do the whole fun experience if I can figure out how to help him through it. Thank you to everyone who has responded to his post.
  12. Main goal: Objectives: 1. Do large muscle exercise or 100 step-ups 5 of 7 days per week 2. Double the baseline time for 3 Pilates positions: Airplane, plank, and 1 more 3. Eat at least 3 portions of vegetables daily Non-fitness Goal Work on 3 projects for home improvement per week Motivation At Christmas next year, we are going to renew our Wedding vows to celebrate our 40th anniversary. I may not look 19 any longer, but I can look much better than I do right now. I love fruits, vegetables, and healthy soups, but it is so much easier to pop something into the microwave. I need to make my health a priority again. I always work hard, but not specifically for fitness.
