  1. He glared round the mountains , letting his anger grow, to fuel his determination and courage. "Do your worst," he said aloud to the glittering, indifferent rock. "Here I come" Day 8- 3/2/15 - Back onto the workouts 1. Did my 15 minute walk and stretching goals. 2. Recorded my food - breakfast was good, lunch was good, dinner was good in all the wrong reasons 3. Did core 1B today - it continues to get easier, but the same exercises give me trouble. 4. No new mini-challenge stuff. Weekly score 111100 out of 777321. Requisite Cool Picture here:

  5. They also learned to fight, fiercely and tenaciously, to survive. - Young Legionary Day 4 - 2/26/15 - worked hard overall - I was tired. 1. Did my 15 minute walk and stretching goals. 2. Recorded my food - breakfast was sausage and mushrooms, lunch was an unexpected cheesburger and fries, dinner was eggs, potatoes, cabbage and quesadillas. Ok, but not great nutrition wise. 3. Did BBW through one cycle, did the push-ups and 10 additional squats. Today was the most squats I have ever done - 35 in all. A few months ago I could only do a few at a time. 4. Added a few people to my watch list and so did the recruit mini-challenge. So, that was cool. I picked people from all different clases to follow. Weekly score 444221 out of 777321. 6. the ritual required him not to ask questions - but instead to show himself ready to face whatever was to come, as it came - Young Legionary Day 3 - 2/25/15 - did ok, but really dragging at the end of the day. I had to get up early, and sleep is pretty important for decent functioning. 1. Did my 15 minute walk and stretching goals. 2. Recorded my food - breakfast was paleo (mini-omelets), lunch was mostly paleo (lettuce wraps with chicken), dinner was wilder (enchiladas) 3. Did Core 1B in the morning 4. Did no challenges - will look at the minis after I post this. Weekly score 333211 out of 777321. Requisite Cool Picture here:
  7. And the Ordeal that awaits you is a symbol of all of the hardships and struggles to come in the years ahead - Young Legionary Day 2 - 2/24/15 Did ok today - it was hard in the cold and at the gym, but I did do everything. 1. Did my 15 minute walk and stretching goals. 2. I tracked my food, which was better overall. I would say about 70% paleo. 3. I did the BBW at the gym through one repetition, then did the push-ups and 5 squats on the second repetition. A few months ago, I could barely do 3 squats - today I did 30 in all. 4. Did no other challenges, but will look at the minis for later on in the week. Weekly score 222111 out of 777321. Requisite cool picture:
  8. The silvery, compact flyer arrowed down through the night sky like a falling star - Young Legionary Day 1 - 2/23/15 The day went ok, despite the cold temperatures. 1. I did my 15 minute walk, and my stretching goals. 2. I tracked my food, which was reasonable for breakfast and dinner, but was kind of out of control at lunch. Was cold, and that makes it hard to make good diet choices. 3. I did core level 1B - the knee stretches are still difficult, and the side planks - everything else is pretty good. 4. challenges are usually for the weekend, but I did work out with my wife at the gym, so I cleared that NFA challenge "Co-op mode" So, a pretty good start: Weekly score 111101 out of 777321. Recruit workout tomorrow.

  13. 2/20/15 - Better in general - food was kind of all over the place. 1. Did my walking and stretching - no problems. 2. Logged my food - I visited with my mother-in-law (it was her birthday), and wound up eating ice cream, and kind of junky food for dinner. 3. Did Core 1B in the morning. The knee exercise is still difficult, but continues to get better. 4. Challenges are tommor My current week score is 553110 out of 777321 P.S. Saw Jupiter Rising - what a mess - laughed a lot though...
  14. 2/19/15 - Not a great day 1. I did my 15 minutes of walking in the morning. I also did my stretching in the evening. It's interesting how unbalanced my flexibility is. When I do the upside down pigeon stretch, one side is substantially harder than the other. The rest is getting better. When I first stared NF, my flexibility was so bad, working out caused a lot of stiffness, and that's mostly gone away since I stretch daily. 2. I did track my food today, but I ate really poorly, and I'm feeling it today. I just got back from a long trip, and was pretty exhausted. So, I didn't eat well, and that cascaded through the day. 3. I then went off to the gym and did the Core Warmup, and 1/3 of the Recruit workout. I'm adding on exercises each time , with the goal of getting through all three times. 4. Challenges are on weekends. My current weekly score is: 442010 out of 777321
  15. Hi Everyone - this a is a placeholder post for my battlelogs. Cool stuff to follow.
  16. Introduction: Hi Everyone, I'm Moros, which is actually a fictional planet in a series of books I read as a kid. The Legions of Moros were a group of mercenaries that fought for the little guy, and they were tough as nails. Sort of like Captain America, but with laser guns too. The books inspired me for years, and I could use that now. According to wikipedia, Moros is also "personification of impending doom, who drives mortals to their deadly fate." That's a little darker than I mean, but maybe it's impending doom to my fat cells I was a lurker on NF for a really long time, and finally got serious last October, and joined the NF Academy. I'm now ready to do my first 6-week challenge. Main Quest: Keep doing what I've already started and add on to it. Make it more consistent, and have fun while I am doing it. Quest 1: Walk and Stretch Daily - Walk for 15 minutes, and do do stretches from "Staci’s Basic Cool-Down": from the NF Academy every day A = 6x a week, 6 weeks B = 5x a week, 6 weeks C = 4x a week, 6 weeks I'm pretty diligent about walking daily, but I sometimes forget to stretch out. I stretch in the evenings, and I need to develop a better cue to remind me to do it. For a while, I was stretching while my wife and I watched Arrow, but now that we've caught up on the episodes, this does not work Quest 2: Track what I eat and drink in my moleskine notebook daily A = 6x a week, 5 weeks B = 6x a week, 4 weeks C = 5x a week, 4 weeks I have a long way to go on food. I've cut out soda 95% of the time, which was a major past win (I used to drink at least a liter of soda a day). My wife and I are gradually going Paleo, but carbs in general and pizza in particular is still my Kryptonite. I'm aware that diet is 80-90% of the battle on Nerd Fitness, and "you cannot outrun your fork" but the truth is I have a really long way to go here. So, getting my food recorded is a base goal for me. Quest 3: Get Stronger with Bodyweight Exercise - 5 times a week, 3 times doing Core Performance, 2 times doing the NFA Workout A = 5x a week, 5 weeks B = 5x a week, 4 weeks C = 4x a week, 4 weeks I am still creeping up on this. When I started in October 2014, the warm-up routine on NFA was enough to knock me out. Now, I can do the base exercises through one round on TR, and am working on the second one. I also do the Core Performance basic workout on MWF. As I get stronger, I plan to switch to three days of recruit work, and two days of Core Performance. Quest 4: Do one mini-challenge or one NFA quest once a week I like the ideas of mini-challenges and quests a lot, but I want to start slow. I'm slowly knocking off the NFA quests, and I'd like to try some of the mini-challenges to. I'd like to do one per weekend. A = 1x a week, 5 weeks B = 1x a week, 4 weeks C = 1x a week, 3 weeks In my head, I think of my goals as (777321) - 7 - Walks 7 - Stretches 7 - Food log 3 - Core Performance 2 - NF Recruit 1 - Challenge Hope to see you all on the forums!
