  1. well its been a few days, i was doing good but today sucked. i had so much freetime and i ate way too much, snacked a lot. im trying not to feel too bad about it but im having a hard time.
  2. the last couple days have been good, i need to dig deep to really fall into my meditation though- i haven't felt like i've been 100% in it. i'm trying though. i will be going for a run today after my yoga routine. i weighed myself and was a little let down. i weigh around 156 on average- which isn't AWFUL, but its enough that i thought the first 5-10 lbs. would be quick? i know the number isn't as important but the first few lbs. normally get burned off quickly. i know i just have to be diligent and stay healthy anyway and my body will figure itself out and focusing on it wont help and will only serve to dishearten me. i cant wait for this week to end so i can finally get veggies and fruits and tofu and basically anything other than rice and bread and those frozen mixed vegetable bags with carrots, green beans, and peas. ill be pulling out my juicer and make something delicious. maybe with some beets!
  3. OMG yum! my in laws are from colombia and make the most amazing beans- i don't know their recipe but anything colombian that can be incorporated to my nutritional needs sounds fantastic! i'd love to hear it if you can find it. and those poses could make a good 10-15 minute flow (meaning don't hold them longer than a few seconds just smoothly "flow" through the movements almost like a yoga pose dance )
  4. the beginner yoga challenge i liked best works like this - week 1 pick 2-4 poses from each list holding for desired time week 2 pick 3-5 poses from each list holding for desired time week 3 pick 4-6 poses from each list holding for desired time week 4 pick 5-7 poses from each list holding for desired time Part I. Warm Up - A quick warm-up series that touches on the major tension-holding areas of the body. You can do a few of these poses if you get to class early or do the whole sequence at home. Bridge raises/pelvic tilts - Setu Bandha Sarvangasana Eye of the Needle Pose - Sucirandhrasana Easy pose with head rolls - Sukhasana Easy pose with Eagle Arms - Garudasana Seated Spinal Twist - Ardha Matsyendrasana Cat-Cow Stretch – Marjaiasana and Bitilasana Downward Facing Dog - Adho Mukha Svanasana Child's Pose – Balasana Goddess Pose - Supta Baddha Konasana Part II. Stretching Poses - Yoga poses don't have to look like a crazy, twisted pretzel in order to be effective. The poses in this series are likely positions that are familiar to you. Do them regularly and you will definitely feel a difference in your body. Mountain pose – Tadasana Raised arms pose – Urdhva Hastanasana Half moon pose - Ardha Chandrasana Standing Forward bend – Uttanasana Garland pose – Malasana Lunge pose - Ashwa Sanchalasana Plank pose - Uttihita Chaturanga Dandasana Staff pose – Chaturanga Dandasana Seated Forward Bend - Paschimottanasana Head to Knee Pose - Janu Sirsasana Happy Baby Pose - Ananda Balasana Pigeon Pose - Eka Pada Rajakapotasana after the 4 weeks i want to add in whatever poses i havn't already tried on this list. i deleted the visuals because i know what these are but a quick google search and theres plenty of reference. i do these in the order they are listed so when i choose 4 from the lists i pick my starting pose and do the 3 poses following it consecutively i hope this helps!
  5. i did not do a long enough yoga session yesterday and didn't get a chance to meditate at all. evening plans with my s/o and his buddies were made. i honestly should have done both in the morning instead of putting it off until the evening. we went to the american sniper movie- for me personally it was very stressful and i had a hard time staying in the theater. everyone else was blown away by how awesome it was and it was horrifying to watch. my session today was wonderful the time flew by, i meditated for longer than i thought. im also going to make a different thread for my vegan recipes in the next few days to keep track of them. if anyone has any really great ones id love to hear about them!
  6. As for the yoga challenge there are numerous on doyouyoga.com. They start out really simple and build on themselves by adding a new pose or 2 every week. I am out and about right now but when I get home I'll find the exact one I'm incorporating (which was a print of list of which poses to do with pictures of them for reference).
  7. Yesterday was great- I walked/ran 3 miles and did walking lunges with weights for 50 ft (ish) I also did a short yoga session with my mother in law before my solo yoga and meditation. I didn't fall into my relaxation while meditating like I've done in the past though... I'll have to work on really letting everything go when I meditate again tonight. As far as food- due to money our household doesn't have the extra money to spring for fruits and veggies at all right now and we are eating grain heavy this week... Hopefully after that we can get back to normal but because of this I am feeling very "backed up" from the grains and starches. Thank you for being interested in my challenge guys! I'll post pictures soon as a visual of my starting point and do another update.

  9. i've never stuck to a fitness plan for very long- i've been terrible at it, really. i want so badly to change that so my goals might seem small but to be able to stick to them is going to be an amazing accomplishment all on its own. Primary Quests Do Yoga daily (15 mins+ 5 mins/week) Meditate daily (5 mins+ 5 mins/week) Secondary Quests Learn to make new vegan recipes lose 10 pounds tertiary (Life) Quest De-clutter possessions i am using the doyouyoga 30 day challenge plan and then after 30 days will be incorporating new poses into the same routine. i also want to learn the sanskrit pronunciations of the yoga practice. i am excited for the idea that a community of people will help keep me accountable and ready to take on the responsibility of finishing this challenge i've given myself.
